Little Buffy Summers

Chapter Five – Little Buffy Summers

Lindsey was wandering the club aimlessly as he searched for Elizabeth. After Addictive had finished their song and headed off stage he figured she’d be headed back to the table. Then out of the corner of his eye he saw Doyle leading her backstage figuring she might like to meet the band he let her go and went off in search of something to entertain himself for the time being.

He soon found a bouncy brunette more than willing to help him out with some instant gratification in one of the stalls in the plush bathrooms. Though as soon as she was done being on her knees and his member slipped from her lips she just wouldn’t shut up, the only bit of information he reluctantly retained was that she was named Kathy and was a Celine Dion freak. Shuddering at the memory he continued on his search for Elizabeth.

Angelus was fairing no better. After the song had finished he only lingered to see if the emerald eyed beauty that had caught his eye would return. He was sorely disappointed to discover that she decided to go backstage and meet up with the band members. Brushing it off he quickly excused himself from Lindsey’s presence and went off in search of what he wasn’t sure… just as long it was a distraction from the tiny blonde that hadn’t left his mind since he set eyes on her only hours earlier.

Usually bright eyes flashed and darkened with jealousy as she watched the two men part. She always wanted either of them. Though she did desire one more than the other on many levels but she would take what she could get. She couldn’t believe it when she heard that little Miss Elizabeth Summers was actually at the opening of Metamorphosis. Usually it was a well known fact that Lindsey kept her hidden away from things like this though she guessed since it was Doyle’s club he allowed her to attend. It only made things worse when she saw how lovely the child was. Well there was no way she was going to let her take either man’s attention. Elizabeth Summers had just made her first enemy.

Spike scanned the crowd before finally spotting Doyle by the bar looking deep into a conversation with Wesley. Glancing back to make sure he hadn’t lost his precious cargo. He grabbed her hand and pushed his way toward the bar.

“Hey Doyle, Doyle we gotta talk.”

The Englishman and Irishman both looked up from their drinks toward the two blondes headed their way. Doyle was surprised to say the least when he saw Elizabeth’s hand grasped within Spike’s. He quickly shook off his surprise and threw Wesley a quick glance.

Wes also didn’t miss the somewhat friendly gesture that the two blondes shared.

“What’s going on Spike?” Doyle asked

“Well first I think we should introduce Miss Elizabeth here to the absolutely wonderful Wesley Windham-Pryce” Spike said with a bit of mocking smile

“Flattery will get you no where William…” Wesley drawled

“Hey now…” Spike whined at the use of his given name

Wesley just shook his head efficiently ignoring the bleached rocker and got up from where he was perched at the bar and went to introduce himself properly to the lovely young woman before him. When he finally found himself before her, he was struck by how lovely she truly was.

As Wesley looked over her she couldn’t possible have been anymore than 16, 17 perhaps even 18 years old. Her long blonde hair flowed past her shoulders almost to the middle of her back. Her unblemished skin saw enough sun just to glow but not enough to become dried out. But what had to be her most alluring feature were her eyes; her eyes seemed to change with each passing moment. Sometimes they were a moss green color and others they seemed to darken almost to a hazel color depending on the light. She truly was a vision and Wesley was instantly taken.

“Hello I’m Wesley, owner and head executive of Slayer Inc.” he said as he laid a gentle kiss to the hand she offered

Elizabeth blushed in spite of herself, she never been in the presence of so many charming men before let alone the fact they all seemed to have some level of interest in her. Ever since she could remember Justine Holtz had always been the more popular one that just love to torment Elizabeth and her friends ever since junior high. So this whole evening was an entirely new but not un-enjoyable experience.

“Elizabeth, Elizabeth Summers” she said with a smile

“Elizabeth a lovely name, for a lovely lady” he said with a small smile

Elizabeth just giggled at the comment. There was no denying that Wesley Windom-Pryce was a very attractive man. His dark eyes and hair against his naturally fair skin with the scruffy looking beard gave his look a bit of danger that normally wouldn’t be there. Though he was delicious eye-candy Elizabeth had to admit to herself he didn’t hold a candle to Angelus whom she met just an hour or two before.

Doyle figured that Lindsey wouldn’t be too happy with all the attention Elizabeth was getting and figured he ought to find out the reason she seemed to be attached to Spike’s hip.

“Uh Spike, what did you two want?” he asked a quizzical look on his face.

“Oh right Elizabeth here wants to sing” he said bluntly

“You sing” Wesley’s curiosity was instantly peeked.

Elizabeth instantly wanted to smack Spike upside the head. She was already nervous beyond belief. Though with Spike with her she felt and odd since of calm come over her and nearly all her stage fright would evaporate into the air.

“Well, um I…” she shot a pleading look at Spike and for some strange reason he decided to take pity on her

“She does play… but our darling girl has bit of stage fright, sorta freezes up every time she goes to sing…” Spike explained

Elizabeth just kept quiet as the three men spoke. She wasn’t about to correct Spike’s inaccuracy. There was a time that she use to love to sing with or without numerous people present but that all changed five years ago and it wasn’t about to change in just one night. Conversation seemed to die down and when Elizabeth lifted her eyes from the spot on the floor she found so fascinating she found 3 pairs of eyes trained solely on her.

“Well ‘Lizabeth if you want to play just let me know when and the stage is yours” Doyle said with a smile

Spike was basically just grinning like a kid on Christmas and she had to admit that his boyish charm was slowly working its way into her heart. Wesley just looked hopeful that he might actually get to hear her play.

“Alright William, I have a few things to show you before I go out there if you’re going to play with me” she said with a slight smirk before she sauntered backstage not even looking back to make sure he was following her.

Spike and his two companions looked stunned for a moment at the use of Spike’s actually name but eventually their slack mouths turned into knowing smiles. It seemed that the lovely Miss Summers had a bit of a bite to her. Spike just shook his head and jogged backstage to catch up with the blonde.

About an hour later Doyle, Angelus, Lindsey and Wesley were all seated at the same table discussing business and other pointless things just to pass the time. Both Doyle and Wesley were surprised that Angelus and Lindsey had been able to restrain themselves for so long. It was clear that the other wanting nothing more to throttle the other man. It would’ve been extremely amusing if it wasn’t for the possibility of a high causality rate.

“Doyle, I was bored two minutes after I go here. Why on earth are we sitting here like this?” Angelus asked impatiently
Lindsey was thinking and feeling the same way and sent a look of displeasure Doyle’s way for good measure. Both Doyle and Wesley decided it was best to way to the very last minute before telling Lindsey about Elizabeth’s upcoming performance. It was no secret how protective he was of her and no one really knew his opinion on her performing again and since she asked them to keep it on the low… they would.

“Just hold on man, I’ll be right back”

And with that Doyle ran backstage to see how the band was doing. About an hour ago both Spike and Elizabeth rounded up Addictive to have a short rehearsal of her one song. All the members of the band were pretty good at learning things by ear and that was exactly what they were doing when Doyle found them not five minutes later.

“Are you guys ready yet? Both Linds and Angelus are getting restless. I’m not sure how much longer I can keep them in those seats, especially without killing one another”

Elizabeth and Spike shared a look; to Doyle it almost looked as if they were silently communicating. Nodding to one another Elizabeth, Oz and Xander left the room and headed toward the stage while Spike lingered behind.

“Hey Doyle, gotta talk to ya for a second”

“Sure, what is it?” he asked impatiently

“’Lizabeth and I don’t want you to introduce her as Elizabeth…”

“Well what the hell do you want me to call her?”

“If you let me finish I was going to tell you” he bit out

“Sorry”

“Right then, I want you to introduce her as ‘Buffy’”

The Irishman’s face was marred in confusion. He hadn’t heard that name in a long while. He was pretty damn sure that that particular name was never to be mentioned again, especially around the tiny blonde just outside.

“Man just do it”

And with that Spike trotted out toward the stage leaving a very perplexed Doyle behind. Muttering a curse he himself ran out toward the stage getting ready to introduce the band.

Back in the club the lights dimmed once more and the main stage became the focal point once more. Lindsey, Angelus and Wesley instantly quieted down and directed their attention toward the stage. They didn’t have to wait too long before the Irishman was once more gracing the stage.

“Alright we have a real treat tonight; Addictive will be performing again with a lovely new singer. So without further ado I’d like to introduce to you Addictive and BUFFY SUMMERS!”

Lindsey nearly choked on his drink when he heard who was going to be playing that evening along with Addictive. Wesley and Angelus just looked confused until the lights came up and standing front and center with guitar in hand was the lovely blonde from earlier. She glanced briefly back at the band and with a small from Spike and encouraging nod she faced the audience once more with a small smile.

“This is for Lindsey” she said softly and with that she began to play

Can't you see?
There's a feeling that's come over me
Close my eyes
You're the only one that leaves me completely breathless

No need to wonder why
Sometimes a gift like this you can't deny

'Cause I wanted to fly,
so you gave me your wings
And time held its breath so I could see, yeah
And you set me free

The room was entranced by the tiny blonde on stage. She held everyone’s attention but she didn’t seem to notice. Her eyes were trained on Lindsey and Lindsey alone. At first he seemed upset and she began to loose confidence that she could do this again but suddenly the confusion and hurt melted away into a small almost secretive smile and she just smiled back.

There's a will
There's a way
Sometimes words just can't explain
This is real
I'm afraid
I guess this time there's just no hiding, fighting
You make me restless

You're in my heart
The only light that shines
there in the dark

Angelus watched the exchange with emerald colored eyes. Waves of jealousy crashed throughout his body. He couldn’t understand the connection the two shared. Lindsey was never one to hold and attachments, not to anyone of the female population. What in gods name made this girl any different?

'Cause I wanted to fly,
so you gave me your wings
And time held its breath so I could see, yeah
And you set me free

When I was alone
You came around
When I was down
You pulled me through
And there's nothing that
I wouldn't do for you

Doyle just watched from the wings and smiled. It was good to see Elizabeth back where she belonged. It had been to damn long and whatever had occurred between her and Spike that night he was thankful for it.

'Cause I wanted to fly,
so you gave me your wings
And time held its breath so I could see, yeah
And you set me free

'Cause I wanted to fly,
so you gave me your wings
And time held its breath so I could see, yeah
And you set me free

Wesley just smiled and sat back in his chair as the last few chords rang though the air. The crowd went wild and so did he. He applauded the performance just as enthusiastically as everyone else which was NOT a normal occurrence. The sole thought running through his mind was that; Little Buffy Summers was going to be the new princess of Slayer Inc. if he had any say in it…
