A date?
CHAPTER 5 - A DATE?
I go back to the table with the two drinks and hand one to Buffy before sitting down.
"So do you know that guy, the bartender?" Buffy asks.
"Yeah, Mike's like a brother to me. A very GAY brother, but a brother no less," I chuckle a little.
"So do you come here a lot?" Buffy took a sip of her drink and then made a face, but didn’t say anything about it.
I take a sip of mine, "Yeah, this place is better than the Bronze."
"Well, yeah, cause your gay. Or… bi. Whatever. Me on the other hand, doesn’t fit in so well."
I raise an eyebrow, "Your not, hmm?"
She looked uncomfortable, "What?"
"Eating pussy and LIKING it no less, kinda makes you on the bisexual side."
"Well.. I… um… well you see I…"
I hold up my hand, "Don’t worry about it, B. You are what you are, labels don’t really matter to me that much anyway."
She sighed. "I know I am, Faith."
I looked at her, surprised. I never thought that she would admit it.
"Why are you so scared of it though?"
"I-I don’t know. I guess people would look at me, ya know… differently. Think of me as some sort of freak." She sighed again and took another sip of her drink.
"Buffy, why should it matter what other people think? Your friends won't abandon you, and that’s what matters." I take her hand from across the table and lightly stroke the backside of it with my thumb. "You know I'll always be there for you, right?"
She looked up and smiled appreciatively. "I know that Faith, thank you. Your friendship means a lot to me."
I keep stroking the back of her hand and looking at her until she looked down at our hands and then back at me.
I then realized what I was doing and let go of her hand as if it burned me. "God! I'm sorry."
Remember when I told you I don’t blush? I apparently lied.
She giggled, "You look cute when you blush, Faith."
"Yeah well don’t get used to it," I grumbled.
She giggled more and I gave her the finger, which then made her burst out into laughter.
"Come on B, shut up. Beeeeeee…" I wined. I don’t like being laughed at.
She calmed down, "Sorry, sorry."
I pouted into my drink.
"You really are adorable, Faith." Buffy said to me and smiled.
"I am NOT adorable. I am hot, sexy, and a god damn fucking machine. No where on that list does the word 'adorable' come up."
"Okay okay, your hot, sexy, desirable, and a fucking machine. Got it."
"I didn’t say desirable."
"Yeah well I did." She gave me a sexy smirk.
I raised an eyebrow. Oh REALLY? Hm.
Damn, wasted already?
"I'm not 'wasted' Faith."
Oh, did I say that outloud? Wow, I really got watch my mouth. That happens too many times.
"Just wondering. You don’t usually come back with flirts of your own."
"Yeah well I'm 'finding the fun', isn't that what you always wanted?"
I raise an eyebrow, You SURE you're not wasted?
"Of course not I'm not THAT much of a lightweight. I'm in college for Christ's sake, I DO drink. "
"Yeah. Okay."
"I do!
"Faith!?!? "
Uh oh.
I turn around and come face to face with an old fuck buddy of mine from like a week ago. Crap, what was her name?
"Uh, hey… um…"
"Michelle. God your such a fucking liar!"
Buffy looked at me with her eyebrows raised in slight amusement, "Friend of yours?"
"Lover," Michelle interrupted. "And who's *this* whore? I thought you were with me!"
I stand up and stare her down, "Don’t you EVER called her a whore." I said it calmly, but it was quite clear that I was threatening her.
NO ONE calls B a whore.
" You're on a date with her aren't you? You promised that you'd call me!"
I really hate the clingy ones.
Wait… date?
"No we're---"
"Don’t lie to me! Your wearing THAT, you brought her HERE, and look how close you two are sitting together! I can't believe you're cheating on me!" She went to slap me but I caught her hand.
"Lets get some things straight here *Michelle*. Number one, don’t touch me. Number two, we are NOT together. It was one night, one lay, nothing more. Sorry."
Not.
She look like she'd been stung. A glare then settled in, "Well I'll make sure you'll never get laid again!"
Yeah right. She can TRY.
"Look, I don’t care. Just go."
She turned on her heel and stomped away. God, why'd I pick HER up?
I look back at Buffy, "Sorry about that, B."
She studied my face, "Faith… is this a date?"
Okay, cue 'deer in headlights' expression.
What do I say? If I say no and she actually, by some miracle, wanted it to be then I might ruin my chances with her. But if I say yes and she didn’t want it, then I'm screwed too.
"Uh… um… "
She smiled lightly and let me off the hook, "Because it'd be nice if it was. "
What??
Oh my fucking god!
Am I dreaming?
I pinched myself. Ow. Okay, not dreaming.
"Well um, I didn’t think you'd see it that way but yeah, I wanted it to be. " I blush a little again.
I hate blushing.
Then again I never even knew I blushed till tonight.
But I've decided I don’t like it.
Buffy smiled again, "You know, underneath your tough exterior you really are very sweet."
Oh hells no.
"I am NOT sweet. Nor adorable, but we went over that. " I crossed my arms in front of my chest.
There. Told her.
"You keep telling yourself that."
I grumble something inaudible before taking her hand, "Come on, let's dance."
She giggled and followed me to the dance floor just as a fast song changed to a slow one.
I DON’T slow dance. I don’t know how.
But it's Buffy.
Before I could think of an excuse to get off the dance floor, Buffy wrapped her arms around my neck.
She must have seen the look of pure panic on my face.
I don’t know how to do this!
"Faith?" she questioned lightly.
I look down.
"You've never done this before, have you?" She tipped my head up to look at her.
I shook my head, not trusting my voice. If I spoke it would probably shake.
"It's easy. Here," she wrapped my arms around her waist. "And you just move slowly. I'll lead, okay?"
I nod.
We start dancing and it wasn’t that hard at all.
Still.
Buffy laid her head on my shoulder and I could feel her whole body pressed against mine.
I was having trouble breathing.
She lightly stroked my back and my skin was tingling everywhere she touched. I wrapped my arms around her waist tighter and put my head on her shoulder. We were touching everywhere and it was so… intimate. I've never… I've never felt like this. It was nice. It was better than nice.
When the song ended we pulled apart slowly, and looked into each other's eyes.
I wanted to kiss her.
She brushed a piece of hair out of her eyes and smiled shyly.
Kiss her.
Then she brushed a piece of hair out of mine.
KISS HER
I couldn’t. Or I guess I wouldn’t. I want to do this right, and well, she's got a boyfriend still. I don’t want B to be the type that cheats on people.
I smiled and looked down, then back at her. " I guess I should take you home, its getting late."
She nodded slowly, "Okay."
The drive home was uneventful and silent. But it was a peaceful sort of silent.
I walked her up to her door and we stood outside for a minute, just looking at each other. I knew she wanted it.
"Well I guess I'll see you tomorrow. Magic Box right? Training?"
She nodded. "Yeah… training."
I leaned in close to her, but instead of going for her lips, I went for her cheek. I kissed her softly and I saw her breath catch. "Bye B," I whispered.
"B-Bye. "
And I walked back to my car, just like that. I wanted to kiss her so bad, but something inside me told me not to.
I really hopes she gets rid of dick face soon.
TBC…
