Chapter 5: Hidden Talents
~~~~~~~~~~~
Fiona and Angel walked down the stairs hand in hand; quickly separating when they saw Cordelia was in early.
“What are you doing here?” Angel asked when she looked up.
Funny, I didn’t even realize she was here, He thought, a sideways glance at Fiona confirmed she hadn’t felt the seer either. Then again they had been a little. . .preoccupied.
“I got bored, figured uld uld come in and finish this paperwork.” Cordy said with a shrug. “I’m almost done now.”
Fiona moved behind the front counter to where the refrigerator had been placed. She rooted threw the contents then emerged with a bag of carrot sticks. She sat on the desk behind Cordy, ripped open the bag and began to eat her treat. Angel made small talk with Cordelia until Fiona caught his attention again. She had sated her hunger but continued eating, if you could call it that. Angel growled softly, so that only Fiona’s enhanced hearing would pick it up, as she made lewd gestures with her mouth and the vegetable. She grinned at him wickedly and continued to tease him until she could see he was almost at his breaking point. Cordy finally noticed the strange look on her friends face and turned but all she saw was Fiona eating a carrot but the too innocent look on the younger girl’s face led Cordy to believe she had missed something and not just then. But now she thought maybe she had missed something about the situation as a whole. Exactly how close were Angel and Fiona?
“Well, I’m all finished, I’m gonna head home.” Cordy said getting up and grabbing her purse from the front counter.
“I’ll see you later.” Angel said scooping up the now completed files and moving to the file cabinet.
After the seer had walked out into the morning sun Fiona walked up behind where Angel stood and wrapped an arm around his waist. She nuzzled his neck for a moment then kissed his cheek. “I’ll be in the ballroom.”
“Okay.” Angel said turning slightly to grab her hand. He squeezed it once then turned back to his task.
Twenty minutes later Angel put the last file in place and went into the ballroom. She sat, as always, at the piano. Her eyes weloselosed as she played Mozart, her slim fingers dancing over the keys. He loved to watch her play.
“I’m bored.” She said, her eyes still closed and her fingers never pausing. “Wanna spar?”
“If you feel like having your cute little ass kicked.” Angel said with a smirk.
“I think your ego has gotten a bit big. I think you need to be taken down a few notches, vampire. And I also think, I’m just the person to do it.” Fiona murmured, eyes still closed, fingers still flowing gracefully and flawlessly over the ivory piano keys. She finished the piece then looked up at him with a smirk.
“Come on, little girl.” Angel said then started toward the basement where his workout room was set up.
Once they were downstairs the pair wasted no time in beginning. Fiona was stronger than a human but Angel knew he was stronger. He could easily defeat the young woman but he always held back to make things even. But today he wasn’t as careful as usual, he held back too much and she took the upper hand. Before Angel knew what had happened Fiona had tossed him across the room and into a metal folding chair. The chair collapsed under the force of the throw and a piece of jagged metal cut into his arm. Angel didn’t need to look to know it was deep; the scent of his blood had already filled the basement.
“Oh Gods, Angel are you ok?” Fiona asked running to his side.
“Yeah, I’m alright.” He said then looked from the wound to her worried face. “Oh no.”
“What, what is it?”
“Your face.” Angel whispered bringing a hand up to run over the ridges covering her forehead.
Her hand followed and she gasped as she felt the vampire visage. Angel was proud of her when all Fiona did was ask, very calmly, “How do I make it go away?”
“Just concentrate. It’ll happen.” He told her. She closed her eyes and a moment later her human face reappeared.
“Why didn’t you ever mention that this was going to happen?” Fiona asked as she bent down again to examine the wound on his bicep, she probed it gently but stood when she saw it was already healing.
“Because it’s not supposed to. I’ve never heard of it happening.” Angel said taking the hand Fiona offered and standing.
“So what do we do now, is there even anything we can do?”
“Research.” Angel said with a sigh.
