The Greatest Power
Chapter Five
Buffy made her way back to the old house, the sun was just setting. Spike was pacing the room, watching the sunlight fade. He stopped as Buffy walked in carrying the scythe and amulet. He felt relief at the site of her, but he was raging mad that she’d gone to face Caleb alone.
“Spike—“
“You could have gotten yourself killed. You shouldn’t have gone alone.”
“I’m okay. Caleb is dead and I have these.” She held up the weapons. “But they can’t be used together. Someone else has to wear the amulet. A champion.”
“I suppose you’ll be wanting Angel, then.” Spike looked away.
Buffy put the scythe down and walked over to him. She took his hand and placed the warm amulet in it. “I believe in you, Spike.”
Spike felt a warmth spreading through his undead body. He didn’t know if it was from the amulet or from Buffy’s words. He put the amulet around his neck. Buffy was about to kiss him when she heard some familiar voices at the door.
“They’re in here,” Dawn called, and she and the rest of gan gang barged in the door. “Buffy, we need you.”
