Love Is In The Air
The silence in the car was slightly unbearable, but what was more so was the way Buffy kept swapping her eyes from the road to the new slayer, all the whilr far face lit up in a contagious smile that made the interior of the car shine. Jamie couln't help but laugh before she broke the strangely comfortable silence.
"So, um Buffy? Care to gimme some mind blowing insight into the life of a slayer? Before I pass out from the suspense I mean...." The new girl stated the last fact just a tad sarcastically, which Buffy picked up on.
"Well Jamie! It's kinda a long story, well stories actually... But I'd be happy to make a dent in them?" Buffy knew it was going to be a long night, but it didn't matter. Faith was alive, and she had brought home a new firend, fighter and guardian angel. All wrapped up in Faith-like leather, topped off with the most astonishingly beautiful set of eyes Buffy had ever seen. She felt herself almost hypnotised every time she fell into them.
"Well B, it's not like I'm goin anywhere soon, so spill baby!!" Jamie was practically jumping out of her seat waiting to hear all the wicked cool stories Buffy was about to share with her. The oldest slayer just looked at the girl quizically. *My God, she doesn't just dress like Faith, she talks like her, called me B! Those two are gonna get on like a house on fire...*
"I can tell you're gonna fit in perfectly in our house Jamie..." Her remark made for a very confused Jamie! "Sorry. Uh, oh yeah! Stories! Ok, I was called when I was fifteen, which kinda sucked at the time. Well, it still kinda sucks know but it tends to grow on, as well as put a very heavy weight on your shoulders haha! But anyway, my first few months as the slayer were really *really* bad. I got expelled for burning down my high school gym and lost my first watcher, and..."
"What\ wat watcher?"
"Oh yeah, right..."

"Wow.... You really are a real life superhero B! Holy shit, and I thought my life was weird before this happened? Ha! You really stopped the world from en? Mo? More times than you can count on one hand too, fuck! I mean, my life just flashed before my eyes, and can you say pathetic?! Wow... I've been so blind man."
The two slayers had been parked outside the liquor store for about an hour now, and Buffy had just finished telling Jamie all the details, and all her stories, of being the slayer. Well, all the stories she could remember anyway. She couldn't begin to imagine how swamped the other girl's head must be right now.
"And this First? Sounds like one wicked evil mofo... Looks like my timing couln't have been better huh? Shit, what's gonna happen? I mena...."
"Look Jamie, just relax for tonight ok? Try and not dwell on everything I just told you. This is a night of celebration, in gaining back a friend and gaining a new one. Now lets go in there and stock up on some booze! What do ya say?"
"Hell yeah B! Ya read my mind!"

*Where the hell are they, they've been gone almost two goddam hours... What the fuck are they doin anyway?*
Faith was wearing away a path in her carpeted bedroom floor, internally freaking that her significant slaying others were still not home. She wasn't sure why, but she was desperate to be near the newest slayer more than anything, and it was beginning to confuse her. True, she did save her life so that made her feel indebted to the gir girl. But she could sense that this was running deeper inside of her that gratitude and reimbursing her guardian angel.
*So why can't I put my finger on it?*
Her brain was beginnig to hurt as she made her way downstairs to the rest of the Summers' house residents. Everyone was talking busilly, no doubt the third slayer was the topic on everyone's tongues. Subconsciously using her slayer hearing, Faith hearfew few questions being thrown around the room as she slowly sauntered down the stairs.
"Did you see her eyes? They're so bright and..." "I wonder if she'll be as strong as Buffy..." "Yeah the leather! She dresses just like Faith!"
"Wonder what she's like, hope she's just like Faith..."
"Hey! Who's talkin about me in here?" Faith strolled into the living room and all eyes fell on her and she smiled. The potentials simply turned their heads back around and continued with their in-depth discussions on the new girl. Willow, Xander and Giles kept looking at her though, each with a smile mirroring hers. She walked over to the groups core and squeezed, literally, into a spot on the couch in between Willow and Xander. They both just looked at her like she was a divine deity, and then Willow hugged her. Which shocked the girl, as they were never relatively close, more like they pleasantly tolerated each other. But it looked like Faith had misjudged their relationship. They were friends. At least, it looked that way now! And Faith was glad.
"Hey don't worry Red, I'm not gonna fade away or float up into the ray of light apparently shining right above my head! I'm not goin anywhere, so chill. And uh, thanks."
"What for Faith?" Willow looked genuinely perplexed.
"For caring..." Faith lifted her eyes to the red head wicca's sheepishly and smiled gently.
"Aw Faith, you don't have to say thank's ya big silly! It goes without saying!" The powerful witch pulled her friend into another hug and whispered, "But you're welcome anyway"
They enjoyed their moment with a silent confirmation that things had indeed changed when Giles piped in.
"It's certainly wonderful that you're alright Faith. As Willow put it, it goes without saying. I\ure ure you and Buffy are certainly going down in the slayer history books for what you've both survived so far. Not to mention that there are now three slayers!" He placed his hand on his charge's shoulder in a much appreciated fatherly gesture.
"Thanks G-man, you always know how to word things don't ya?!" Faith gave him a look that said it all, her eyes displaying the affection she had for the man.
Suddenly, the front door swung open and the room hushed. In staggered Buffy and Jamie, unable to see over the two crates of beer, each, that they were carrying.
"Honey we're home!" Jamie almost fell over the rug under her feet but managed to catch hersel, alll the while laughing.
"And we brought some refreshments!" Buffy remarked, as she placed her crates of alcohol on the floor near the door. "And there's still more in the car ha!"
The room erupted in a burst of joyous laughter. Everyone there was relishing in this celebration, because lately there wasn't much reason for any of them to celebrate. Faith eyes brightened the second her guar ang angel stepped through the door, never leaving her as she moved, and brightening even more when the new slayer's eyes bore into her own. *Almost like she's lookin right through me... God she has the most amazing eyes man, shit.*
"Uh, Faith? Are you sure we shouldn't get you checked out at the hospital? Hellooo, earth to Faith, ya there?"
Faith snapped out of her reverie to see Buffy waving her hand in front front of her now hazed eyes. And looking kind of worried. Just as she was about to look up at Buffy and answer her, Faith caught a glance at Jamie. Her lifesaver was looking at her, with a combined look of goofiness and subtle seduction. She slumped against the wall and winked at Faith, knowing damn well that she looked sexy as hell. Faith found herself blushing, even though she never blushed, and smiled back at Jamie, a slight, sexy curve of her lips. It was then she acknowledged a very nervous looking Buffy.
"Ah I'm fine B, just kinda got lost in space for a sec..." She smiled up at Buffy who smiled right back at her, happy that her friend wasn't damaged.
"Hey, you call her B too! That's wicked huh?!" Faith frowned, and it slowly melted into a grin. *My God, she calls her B... She's right, that is wicked. Wicked sexy!*
"Hey now, I gave her that nickname J. As you can tell, I shortened your name down too... Its' my thing, suits ya both anyway. Band J!" Jamie laughed at her statement and made her way out to the car to retrieve the remaining drinks from the car, the stuff she insisted to Buffy they get. The "good stuff", as she put it... In other words, the hard liquor. This was gonna be a good time, she could tell.... *Man, why was Faith staring at me like that? She looked so hot too, damn... Is she interested? Ah, what am i thinkin, she doesn't even know me, how could she be interested?*
*Shit.... I think I'm fallin for this chic! Nah, just chill Faith. Get to know her first, ya don't even know her that much. But what I do know I like, a lot. Ok, just spend some time with her, do the bonding thing, the sharing thing... Where the fuck is she anyway, I want her to sit with me!*
