Visionary Kiss III 9

Visionary Kiss III Part 9

LONDON, TOWER BRIDGE, – TWILIGHT

Once again Willow noticed that twilight had a magical effect on every town, but in a town as marvelous as London it was a breath taking moment, a perfect moment for tourists, to inspect her.

Even she herself was tempted to take a bus and visit all the places she loved, there was the great Bank of England, or she could just take the Streetcar and enjoy the look over the Thames from the Surry-Side.

But she was not back in town for fun, there was Danger, Death and Disaster coming and her task. The redhead who had seen so many things in all her years on this planet, in her own and other dimensions, watched the car. The car in which her friends were sitting drove around the corner disappearing from her field of vision. She had told them there were things she needed to take care of, things that made her unable to go with them.

It had not been a lie, but also not the truth.

The real reason she now was standing near her home, looking over the deserted river, was that she was afraid that her love for her friends would make her do things, make her stop things.

She feared the things that would come, but at the same time she was happy that finally she would be able to win. And she would win.

Looking up into the sky Willow felt the change in the atmosphere, the electrical unloading of a threatening thunderstorm seeming magical to reflect what was about to come, extinguishing dusk; the gray sky turned black while the thunderclouds moved closer. Against this dark gloomy background Big Ben looked like a small pocked watch.

Finally she turned away and started walking towards her house, she had a lot of packing to do, a long journey lay in front of them all.

OUSIDE LONDON, A COUPLE OF MILES WEST, - NIGHT

In the probably most beautiful area near London stood, enclosed by a green landscape, the home of the family O’Connell. The taxi-driver drove onto the gravel drive, in the hope that he would be able to leave as soon as possible, to be fast enough to be able to leave the thunderstorm behind.

So he was in a hurry as they arrived in front of the manor house built in the Tudor style. The neat English grass would appreciate the thunderstorm, but the O’Connells who owned the house would soon be annoyed by the storm.

Rick looked dog-tired; he had already put down some of his wife’s bags in the entrance. Now he was dragging, as ordered by his wife two suitcases filled with Artefacts, to the library. Evelyn, who he thought looked breathtaking in her Egyptian dress, followed him empty-handed. She only had to carry her effusive enthusiasm that had not been soothed by the long journey.

The Library that looked more like a private museum was two stories high and had a fantastic overhead light; hundreds of books, artefacts and other things collected by Evelyn and her father filled the shelves, cupboards, tables, simply everything.

A collection of incalculable value, however, the lady of the house didn't have a second look for, at least at the moment.

“According to my investigations”, she said, her voice echoed in the room, “this bracelet leads us directly to the lost oasis of Ahm Shere.”

Rick put the bags roughly on the floor.

“Careful!” she called.

“What good advice”, he replied and turned to her; all he wanted was a decent night sleep. “Evey. Love of my Life. Sunlight of my Soul. I know what you are thinking, and the Answer is: NO!”

She pressed her hands to her sides and looked at himinglingly, defiantly: “Doesn't this sound enticing, though? Looking for the lost oasis of the king of the scorpions, a mythical figure, we by chance proved his existence.”

He sighed and gently holding her shoulders. “Darling, we have just come home!”

Her eyes sparkled and her smile was the pure zest for life. “This is the beautiful part of this anyway! Why do you think I made the effort to have all our things washed in Cairo?”

“Because you are an efficient wife and loving mother?”

“That goes without saying. But anyway the point is: We have already packed!”

Moaning he loudly sunk into the next chair and shook his head. “Mention only a good reason to me…”

Grinning, victory already in front of her eyes, she sat down on his lap.

LONDON, LIBRARY, ROSENBERG HOME, - NIGHT

“We finally meet again”, Willow said looking into the dark deeps of Ardeth Bay’s eyes.

The Warrior had known were to go to find the woman he called a friend but at the same time was an Enemy. He had his goal and she like him would do everything to reach it, the problem was they had different aims; the only reason that made it possible for him to like her was that she would not sacrifice everything to reach it.

Knowing so well her after all these years; he had not been surprised to find her dressed in fine leather trousers, high boots and a coat that except for the colour was just like his.

“As promised, I havee toe to inform you that they have found him, but like it appears to be unnecessary.” Bay spoke as he looked at all the suitcases “You already know that it has started, that they will try to bring him back.”

Willow was aware of the fact that the man in front of her did not really want an answer, because it hadn't been a question. She smiled as she walked over to the window looking out into the stormy night.

“Yes I know that they have him and I know that he is near, to be exact, he is only a few miles away.” She turned to make it possible for him to see the truth in her eyes. “You know that I need you to take care of them…” before she had a chance to say more she shook, her eyes widened, making Bay take a step towards her.

It was time.

“Ardeth they need you, you have to hurry.”

OUTSIDE LONDON, THE O`CONNELL`S HOME, - NIGHT

“We don’t talk about the search for a Book or - even worse - after an administered mummy. All I talk about is an oasis, honey.” Evelyn whispered into her husband’s ear, laying her arms around his necstlistling herself against him. “Think it over … the moon shimmers on the water, the sand sparkles like a sea made of diamonds. Imagine how romantic and exciting this would be …”

He took her into his arms and looked at her longingly. “Palms he whe wind? A white, remote beach? Cool water for swimming - without swimsuits?”

Rubbing herself against him she said, “I think you understand what I am telling you.”

He put her aside and asked with an eyebrow pulled up: “What is the hook?”

“The hook?”

“The hook! The other side of the medallion. The part I will have to pay for, expensively.”

She shrugged her shoulders, rose from his lap, and crossed the library quite busily and with clattering heels. Then she stopped and pointed at the suitcases. “We can look through the things tomorrow … it’s told that the oasis is the resting-place of Anubis army. That’s all.”

He got up and followed her. “I just knew it., that’s the hook. This isn't coincidental the Army of the Dead, the army that waits to be lead by this scorpion - guy?”

Looking over her shoulder Evey again looked quite innocently, “I wouldn't worry about this in your place. He wakes up only every five or six thousand years.”

“Yes, but this little voice in my head is telling me that the alarm call soon is due.”

“Don't be silly”

“And what if he wakes up anyway?”

This time she didn't look at him and was silent.

“If no-one sings him to sleep again, he destroys the whole world, true?” Rick asked her.

“I am impressed, Rick. You have developed into a scientist.”

“No darling, but I have gone through something like this before.” He mumbled as both started to climb the stairs. “Does it always have to be this way? I mean … just tell me the details.”
