Chapter 103

The village - a while later

**************

“Happy, Luv?” Spike asked.

“Mmm,” Angel murmured.

He certainly looked it, if that grin was anything to go by.

“Sure it’s still you in there?” Spike asked.

“Would Angelus have said the things I just have?”

Never had been one for the after glow, had Angelus. Nah, this soppy sod had to be Angel, not that Spike had been in any doubt.

“Love you too,” Spike said, rolling on top of Angel and kissing him on the end of his nose.

“Feel better for a good shag then, eh?”

Spike sighed as Angel’s hands began to caress his back.

“Yes,” Angel admitted. “Spike, I’m sorry about last night. If only I’d known… It could have been us… We could have spent the whole night together… I don’t know what possessed me to spend it with those whores.”

“Steady, Luv. Not sure they’d like to hear you call ’em that,” Spike cautioned. “Anyhow, it doesn’t matter. You’re here now with me. That’s what counts.”

The hands were on his buttocks now.

“We don’t have to go,” Angel said. “We could stay here… spend every night together making love…”

Spike began to rub himself against Angel as the hands began to explore his body intimately.

“Tempting though that sounds, Pet, we both know it can’t be. We’ve got responsibilities back home.”

“The Powers That Be?”

“Bugger The Powers That Be!” Spike exclaimed. “I meant Cordy and the Mick. How long do you think they’ll last helping the helpless without us to keep ’em out of trouble?”

Angel laughed.

“I suppose you’re right.”

Spike could feel Angel’s body responding to the contact. He lifted his hips slightly to allow Angel’s erection to find a more comfortable position.

“I know I am,” Spike said. “Be nice to come ’ere for a bit of a holiday once in a while but we can’t call it home, Luv.”

Spike slipped a hand between their bodies.

“I don’t think I’ve ever taken a vacation,” Angel said.

Now it was Spike’s turn to laugh.

“That’s rich! You never did a day’s work in your life until you set up Angel Investigations.”

Spike curled his fingers around Angel’s length and started to kiss his neck.

“You know what I mean,” Angel protested. “The kind of vacation where you pack a bag and go on a trip.”

Spike began to work his fingers up and down Angel’s shaft.

“And lie on a beach soaking up the sun, with all the local talent giving you the eye…” he added between kisses.

“Well, maybe not the sun part,” Angel said with a groan. “Oh, keep doing that… I was thinking more of you and me alone together in the presidential suite of an exclusive hotel…”

“How about that one in Dubai?” Spike suggested, absentmindedly continuing the stroking.

“… with one of those whirlpool bathtubs… Urgh!”

“Can’t remember what it’s called but they charge you thirty dollars just to step into the lobby….”

Spike gave Angel a gentle squeeze.

“… a bottle of champagne chilling on the side… Oh! Ah!”

“No one’d come looking for us there…”

“… with nothing to distract me…”

“Paris’d be more romantic though…”

“…from making love to you…”

“Or, there’s that place in the Cotswolds Wes was on about. It’d be quieter, more private…”

Spike let go of Angel and rolled off him.

“… pleasuring you again and again…”

On the other hand, sod the venue! It didn’t sound like they’d be getting out and about much.

“Catering to my every desire?” Spike asked, repositioning his hand and resuming his attentions.

“Of course.”

“Every desire?”

“Yes… anything, Sweetheart.”

“Mmm, I like the sound of that. Come ’ere. Give us a kiss.”

“We should hurry, before he has a chance to hurt Spike,” Fred said, grabbing a crossbow from beneath Lorne’s bed.

“I don’t believe Spike is in any immediate danger,” Wesley said. “Though Angelus will undoubtedly use him to get to us…”

“And then kill all of us,” Lorne added.

“I’m good with this,” Fred said, holding the crossbow up for them both to see. “We won’t give him the chance.”

Wesley smiled. He’d contemplated suggesting Fred remain behind but, if this Fred was anything like as determined as the one he’d known, she’d insist on coming along. He was glad to hear she knew how to use a weapon. No doubt Groo had instructed her.

“Isn’t there something we could do to render him harmless without actually killing him though?” she asked. “Spike will be so upset if anything happens to Angel…”

“We won’t kill him unless we have to,” Wesley said.

Wesley removed a pair of automatics from his rucksack and tucked one into his belt and the other his jacket pocket.

“I didn’t think bullets could harm vampires,” Fred said. “Or, are they loaded with tranquilliser darts?”

Lorne picked up the sword Angel had brought with him. Wesley wasn’t sure that he knew how to use it but it would be useful to have a sword, just in case.

“This one is,” Wesley said, patting the gun tucked into his belt. “The other contains carbon-tipped bullets,” Wesley explained. “The Watchers’ Council are running field trials…”

“Oh, I see. Yes, of course,” Fred said. “What a clever idea.”

“They’ll be standard issue in two years’ time,” he added.

“So, you know they’re effective?”

He nodded.

“I’m ready,” Fred said.

“Just one thing before we go, Darlings,” Lorne said. “Let’s be careful out there, boys and girls.”

***************

Chronologically this had been their first shag as vampires with souls although, of course, not from Spike’s perspective.

“So, how’d it compare, Luv?” he asked.

“How did what compare?” Angel asked.

“Shagging me with a soul?”

“We’ve made love before since I got my soul back,” Angel said.

“Huh?”

Unless he’d been too drunk to remember, Spike couldn’t recall anything more intimate than a fistful of fives passing between them back in Sunnydale.

“Oh, you mean China,” he said, suddenly realising what Angel was referring to.

He’d wondered in recent years how it was Angel had managed to hang on to his soul on that occasion. Guess he hadn’t really been able to give the shagging his full attention, being newly ensouled an all. The guilt over the thousands he’d killed must have prevented him from really enjoying it. Or maybe it was the fear of being caught by Darla…

“Nah, I didn’t mean you, I meant me,” Spike explained. “Last time we did it I didn’t have a soul.”

Angel smiled.

“Is this one of those questions where whatever answer I give I’m in trouble?” Angel asked.

“Wasn’t meant to be a trick question, Pet. Just asking if you enjoyed it, is all.”

He began to pout.

“Of course I did, Sweetheart,” Angel said, pulling him into his arms.

Spike smiled. Angel always had been a sucker for the pout.

“It was everything I’ve dreamed of for a hundred years…”

Their lips met in the most tender of kisses.

“I can die happy now,” Angel whispered as he released Spike’s mouth, “having had the chance to make you mine once more…”

Soppy bugger!

“How about another round before you go?” Spike asked. “Fancy trying it in the water?”
