Visionary Kiss III Part 6
INT. TEMPLE RUINS, THE CITY OF THE DEAD, - DAY
They hurried through the vestibule, into the room behind and out into the catacombs, while the rumble of thunder in their ears swelled; making them run even faster, if that was possible.
"This is the chamber with the steps? Right?" Rick yelled as he pointed at the entrance in front.
The raging water was chasing them through the catacombs.
"I don't know!" she yelled back, " Maybe?"
He pulled his wife through the entrance, his torch illuminating a small room without an exit - a dead end.
They wanted to go back but the water had already caught up. It gushed through the door like a spring tide, the torch flame went out. And the room was filled with water.
" Tell me if I'm mistaken, but I am pretty sure that we are in a goddamned desert!" shouted O ' Connell over the thunder. "Because I am interested where all the water comes from."
Evey looked at him, knowing that he did not really want the answer to his question, "Darling what have I done?"
"Stop it, we will get out of here. There is a way out. There is always a way out."
Rick kissed his wife, then they, pushed through the cold, waist-high water to reach the corridor, trying to swim from there under the water surface, but the raging torrent pushed them back.
Within minutes the water had risen to their necks, and they were still in the same room, breathing hard, the musty air getting thinner and thinner.
"Evey.."
"Rick!"
INT. TEMPLE RUINS, THE CITY OF THE DEAD, - DAY
Spivey and Jacques, and little Alex, had no idea what was going on under them.
His sword between his teeth, Jacques climbed the scaffolding looking like a pirate.
Alex could see him coming and while the small boy called out for his parents in his mind, he brave shot at his attacker repeatedly. He tried to hit the eye of the man, but the nasty Frenchman only laughed, ducked or fended off the tiny stones with his hand.
"Go on, my little mouse", he shouted to Alex. "Keep shooting at me, it only makes me more furious!"
This didn't please Alex at all, he retreated to the outermost edge of the scaffolding. His back pressed hard against the wall he could only wait for the Monster reach him.
"You will be a delicious piece of tenderloin, my small one." The French man said.
But before he reached his victim there was an underground rumble. Jacques, precisely at that moment looked down, as Red, the leader of the gang, emerged panic-stricken from the crevice.
"Move!", he yelled "Quickly!"
"What is your problem?", required Spivey wanting to know why, pointing at one of the small stacks of art treasures. "We haven't found the damned thing at all anyway yet."
"Then look further and die!"
Red rushed out of the temple towards the waiting horses. That was enough to convince Spivey to do the same, he made off.
Still on the scaffolding close to the boy the French man listened to his partners' conversation as they left the temple. He looked once more at Alex who had big fear stretched eyes, "This is your Lucky day, little mouse." and slipped down the scaffolding.
Before the villain got to safety, he kicked a load-bearing connection out of the scaffolding. Alex could only watch, already feeling the movement of the construction, no longer stable it started to sway. As on a teetering seesaw, the boy had to try keeping his balance.
Everything swayed, crashed and creaked. Horrible sounds could be heard from the catacombs and Alex feared not only for his own life but also for that of his parents. He rode on the swaying rack as on a surf board.
"What are you doing?" Willow asked the boy, who was no longer standing on his feet. Held by magic his body floated some centimeters over the scaffolding.
Just as it finally caved in, it tipped sideways, and directly into one of the solid temple columns.
"Would you believe it if I said I did nothing?" Alex answered, making Peter Pan like flying movements in the hope that his aunt would forget about the question. There was no reason to let her know about the little incident with the Frenchmen.
Willow shook her head, there was no time for this, she had to do something or the parents of this boy would drown. Searching with her mind for her friends she used a little spell that had already saved Evey's life in another adventure not too long ago.
INT. TEMPLE CATACOMBS, THE CITY OF THE DEAD, - DAY
His lungs burning, Rick knew that soon, the need to breathe would be unbearable. Just as he said goodbye to his wife and son in his mind, there was a tingling all over his skin and then there was air surrounding him.
Slowly he opened his eyes to look straight into the face of his wife. "Honey I think you can breathe now," he told her, as he touched the skin of the bubble that surrounded them.
INT. TEMPLE RUINS, THE CITY OF THE DEAD, - DAY
Knowing that the O'Connells were safe, Willow waved her finger and Alex started to float down, half way to the ground the boy made a unfavorable movement with his leg, kicking the column that was already unbalanced by the collapse of the scaffolding.
The column tipped over, Alex out of reflex hung on to the column. As soon as he had a sure hold he started to glide down. He almost enjoyed it, it almost was as if he was home, on the banisters. He arrived safely on the ground, his heart beating in his throat, the blood in his ears roared so loud that he could no longer hear the rumbling under his feet.
Helplessly, he could only watch as the column that he had used, crashed into the next, a chain reaction triggered, like dominoes of stone, the columns tipped over. Vast amounts of new and old dust whirled up, and they were left in a now completely destroyed temple.
Only one column was still standing, but wobbly.
"Oops!" coming from the boy made Willow turn away from the ruins and toward him.
"I think that I should tell you a little story about your mother, a library and the shelves."
Before Alex had a chance to ask his aunt what exactly she meant, the rumbling under their feet was getting louder, the ground started vibrating, and the last column toppled slowly.
Having a mad moment, Alex tried to save the last of the temple, by throwing himself against the column. But he was not surprised when he lost the fight.
The column crashed loudly into the wall that held the Hieroglyphs that looked like the tattoo on Rick's arm, showing the compass and the wings of the falcon with a pyramid with an eye in the middle.
The Picture was destroyed, in its place there now was a giant hole
. Through which a gigantic geyser shot.
Not only water came through the hole, Alex parents were also there. Still in the invisible bubble they were washed over the temple ground. They were soaked completely and exhausted, but finally they recognized the surroundings and Willow who walked over to them, the bubble bursting like a Soap-bubble.
"Mom.Dad", Alex called out, his eyes big in his pale face. "Don't be irritated. I can explain everything."
