Signs of the coming storm
Asher softly closed the door to his house, stepping off the porch he headed to his car. Andrew had worked up a craving and just HAD to have French vanilla ice cream at one in the morning. So this was how he found himself opening the back seat and tossing his jacket in. Shutting the door he opened the driver’s door when suddenly his sense went haywire and he spun around and whipped his claws out.
Scanning the empty courtyard he caught sight of what the presence was. Lonnie and Buffy’s daughter Jaeger.
“Jaeger?” He asked softly, straitening to his full height when the girl stepped out of the shadows. He smiled down at the little girl that had become best friends with his twins.
“Hi Ashtner” Jaeger said causing Asher to smiled fondly; he recalled how Skye had had the same lisp when saying his name when she was Jaegers age.
“What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be at him…in bed?” He asked her in his best ‘daddy knows best’ voice. He felt the hairs on the back of his neck when her icy blue eyes met his, he studied her sad expression. “What is it sweetie?” He said dropping to his knees.
“You don’t wear your seat belt do you?” she asked him. He tilted his head to the side.
“Did Andrew tell you to ask me that? I promise I won’t be mad if he did.” ‘At you’ he added silently. Jaeger shook her head.
“No he didn’t I promise.” She took a step back. “You should wear it tonight.”
“Why?” He knew all the stereotypical reasons that he heard off the television but he wanted to know what this little girl had to say.
“Because…you won’t come home again if you don’t.” Asher was left speechless in the courtyard, numbly watching Jaeger turn and walk back to her house, stopping on the porch and waiving at him before she went inside.
Climbing into the driver’s seat, he sat there for a moment, resting his hands on the steering wheel of the car. Looking up into the living room he could see Andrew sitting on the couch resting his hands on his large stomach. Smiling he could see Andrew scold the child all the way outside. The baby was an active one and constantly catching his foot between Andrews’s ribs which cause him pain constantly.
Sighing he looked back to Buffy’s house and slipped the seat belt into place.

Buffy sat up when she heard the front door close, listening as Jaegers soft footsteps climbed the stairs and went to her room. Turning to Lonnie she leaned over and jabbed her sharply in the side. Rolling her eyes when the woman simply rolled over.
Repeating the move Lonnie groaned. “Stop it baby” she groaned out.
“Honey, Jaeger just went to bed.” Sighing when Lonnie replied with a grunt she sat up.” She was outside.”
That one caught her drowsy wife’s attention. Lonnie rolled over and looked up at her mate. “What do you mean?” Lonnie sleepily rubbed her eyes. ‘Spirits it’s to early for this shit.’ She thought as she yawned and sat up.
“I…I think we should have Willow do another scan on Jaeger.” Buffy said softly.
Nodding Lonnie agreed with her, “Yeah that might be a good idea. Willow might understand whatever it is Jaegers seeing more. When?”
“Tomorrow, after school.” Buffy leaned back and looked over at a framed picture of Jaeger and Axel sitting on the end table. Smiling at the adorable little faces of her children she fought off her anxiety. She couldn’t lose them. They were her family, sure there were the Scoobs and Dawn but anyone in there right mind could see how much happier Buffy was with Lonnie and the two children.

Asher stepped out of the quickie mart and dug in his pocket for his keys, trying not to turn around when he felt eyes on him. Sniffing the air he cursed softly, whatever it was was downwind from him.
Opening the car door he climbed in and turned on the car, pulling on his seat belt he back out of the parking space and turned to drive out of the lot. Turning he carefully scanned the trees. So many damn trees here…pulling down the road to go home he admitted he felt a little jarred over Jaegers statement.
He knew the problems surrounding the child and if she could really see ‘visions’ he wasn’t going to take the chance it was all bullshit.
Slowing down at the light he waited for it to turn green, looking into his rearview mirror and saw a large truck pull up behind him. Frowning he sped up and kept a wary eye on it, lightly increasing the gas when he was far up enough on the road that he was less than a mile from the school he looked back…the truck was still behind him.
Looking in front of him his heart dropped when he saw a little boy standing in the street and he was headed right for him. Slamming both feet down on the streets he felt a moment of confusion when the boy vanished before the truck slammed into his car and he looked out the window to see the road directly below him. Bracing his hands on the roof he braced himself when the car landed on the roof. Groggily opening his eyes he looked around and twisted to look behind him. Why was the truck backing up?
A moment later he got his answer when the large trucks tires screeched and began tearing towards him rapidly. When the truck hit the smaller car pushing it off the side of the road and the driver slowed to a stop and got out.
Walking to the ledge he looked down the cliff and saw the car lying at the bottom of the ravine. Smiling he turned and returned back to the truck, stopping only to collect the illusion stones. One down…this was going to be easier than planned.
Driving away he hummed a happy tune.

Everything hurt, Asher couldn’t feel his legs, and he weakly turned his head and saw his legs were broken. ‘Shocker’ he thought, trying to look to where the passenger she was he saw that his cell phone was lying several feet from the car.
Choking when the first waft of smoke reached him he looked around weakly, he realized somehow he had been pinned and was looking out the rear window. Suddenly the pain and effect of the crash reached him.
“Andy” he whispered softly before slipping into the dark.

“NOOOO” Raya sat upright in the bed, looking around frantically for the fire. What the hell was that? Looking up when her wife walked into the room looking at her worriedly.
“Are you okay?” Faith asked softly. Raya looked around frantically her eyes wide with fear and disbelief.
“Asher…no…Asher.” Raya climbed out of bed and rushed out of the house to Asher’s and Andrew home. Not even stopping she burst through the doors scaring Andrew enough that he flung popcorn everywhere.
“What the hell Ray?” Andrew whined. He had FINALLY gotten the baby to go to sleep. Bullshit parenthood started from birth it started well before that.
“Asher where is he?” Raya went to the bottom of the stairs.” ASHER” she cried desperately.
“He went out to the gas station to get ice cream…what’s wrong?” Andrew asked softly, staring at Raya. He knew the connection the pack had to each other because they were all related. The only other time he had seen Raya that scared was when a hunter had mistaken Horus for a wild dog and shot him three years ago.
“Raya…where is he?” Andrew felt weak. Holding a hand to his stomach he sunk back on to the couch. “nonononono.” He whimpered and leaned into Faith when she came and wrapped her arms around him.
Raya looked out the door as a bedraggled Horus stepped in followed by Skye.
“Asher’s missing. Were going to find him.”
Turning she walked outside and she and her family stripped and she changed first and waited for the other two, turning she looked over in time to see a large white stripeless tiger making its way toward them. Raya looked at the way the tiger head was bowed, Ryan was asking to come.
Raya nodded and they broke into a run off the property and spread out and began tracking for any scent of Asher.
