Devil's In The Details

Giles stared at the familiar looking figure that had basically had appeared in his library.
"Hello Giles," it said. It was like someone just out of shift with reality then he began to come into focus. Then he realized who it was and he threw a knife at him. The knife flew through the air and landed at the center of Wesley Wyndham-Price's chest. The bad news for Giles was that Wesley was already dead so the knife didn't have much of an effect.
"Rude," he said as he pulled the knife from his chest.
" What do you want,"
"I want safe passage,"
"No way," Giles said in a very unbritish way.
That was the moment that Buffy came into the room with a man over her shoulder.
"I need you to make someone a complete un-vampire," she said and threw the body onto the library table.
" And it seems that you have need of my services," he said. Before Giles could say anything Buffy looked at the unfamiliar figure.
"Wesley?" She said as she squinted, "someone got hot all of a sudden," she said and Giles looked at the body, it was Xander.
"Agreed, bring who you need to but remember I'll kill you more than you already are if you try and betray us," he told him. Wesley solemnly nodded his head and disappeared.
"Pillock," he said as Wesley disappeared.
Willow was on her way back to her friend's when she felt it, something had gone wrong. She landed and there was no fanfair, no ballons or signs, just Dawn looking stricken. Willow hugged her as she got off but Dawn didn't hug back.
"What's the matter Dawnster?"
"I'm not supposed to tell you until we get back to the mans," she said. They drove silently and Willow felt the energy of the place before they pulled up. It was filled the energy of girls even though the place was silent due to Christmas break. She saw Buffy in one of the upper windows. As Willow walked in she saw her coming down the steps tears in her eyes.
"What's wrong?" she asked.
“You don’t know.” Buffy asked as she wiped her face.
“Because we blocked her,” Willow heard Giles say behind her, she turned to see Wesley and Giles standing together holding a book.
“We didn’t want her to lose herself again.” Wesley said Willow suddenly felt the need to sit down. Then she looked around at what she hadn’t seen yet, Xander.
“Where’s Xander?” She asked and she felt her pulse quickening. “I know that you’re hiding something big, and I know someone’s dead, and Giles is here, Dawn is here, hell even Wesley is here, but the one person I haven’t seen is Xander.” Willow suddenly felt like her insides were burning down. Her heart stopped beating for a second; she could swear her heart stopped beating. Tears streamed down her face as Buffy kneeled down next to her.
“He went out patrolling by himself, and he must have got bitten...”
“He’s dead?” Willow asked and she felt her stomach drop out.
“ Deadish.” Wesley said and Willow looked at him strangely.
“What do you mean deadish?” Willow asked.
“He’s a vampire.” Buffy said, and for the first time it really stuck in her brain. Willow jumped up.
“Oh, I call evil twin! His evil twin from another dimension is here and he’s running amuck!”
Buffy shook her head. Willow still felt like her heart was breaking.
“I..I mean we checked him out, real Xander. He’s just Xander with added vampire accessories.”
“Let’s curse him, like Angel, it’ll be fun!” Willow said but she knew she would still never have the old Xander back.
“He said he doesn’t want that.” Buffy said and Willow shook her head.
“ I don’t give a crap what he wants, I want our Xander back post haste, I don’t care if he can’t go out in the sunlight, or have children...”Willow trailed off and saw how Xander would never consider cursing as an option.
“We may have a plan to get Xander back the way that he was.” Giles said and he glared at Wesley. “But we have to do something in exchange.”
Willow wiped the tears from her eyes.
“What is it, I’ll do anything.”
“Protect Angel from Wolfram and Hart.” Giles told her before Wesley could open his mouth.
“Done,” Willow said the moment Giles finished.
“I don’t think you understand the entire force of an evil corporate law firm is going to come down on us. And you don’t even minute to think about this?” Giles asked her.
“How long did it take Buffy to say yes?” Willow asked.
“About two minutes.” Buffy chimed in.
“It’s decided then isn’t it? Unless you have a problem with it?” Willow asked looking at Giles.
“I don’t like being blackmailed, but since it’s not like we’ve never done it before, I also agree.” Giles said and Willow got up and looked at Wesley.
“This doesn’t work I’ll kill you.” Willow told him.
“Already dead actually,” Wesley answered.
“Oh, well dead without your limbs.” Willow countered and Wesley nodded his head.
“Where’s Xander now?”
“He’s in the dungeon; I’ll take you to him.” Buffy told her and Willow nodded her head. Buffy began to take her downstairs.
“Is he, is he ok?”
“He’s been drinking pig’s blood only, so he hasn’t feasted on anyone yet.”
“Is he still our Xander?”
“I think so, he acts like it anyway.”
“Is there something you’re not telling me?”
“Xander and I are sort of going out.” Buffy told her and Willow stopped.
“That’s great! I always thought that you two should get together after we destroyed Sunnydale!” Willow said and she hugged Buffy, then she pulled back from her.
“You two did get together pre-vampire, right?” Willow asked and Buffy looked uncomfortable.
“Buffy!”
Giles tried to read what Wesley was thinking as he ran through the books in Giles’ shelf. Wesley was hiding something, Giles wasn’t sure what, but the fact that he remained so silent about what had happened to Angel worried him more than anything.
“So when will this all happen, do the stars have to align or anything like that?” Giles asked while Wesley made his way through the epically sized volumes.
“I’m not going to tell you anything until my friends are safe.” Wesley told him without even looking back.
