Chapter Three: Visionary Girl

A man, tied between two trees, his wrists and ankles bound. A look of fear seemed permanently plastered on his face. If it weren’t so cut and marred, it might have been recognizable. A woman, in long flowing black robes stepped forth, her hair black as pitch and down to her mid-back. Black veins disrupted the beauty of her, her eyes though, that truly scared, they were black, completely, irises and all, completely black. Her skin deathly pale, the color of dried bone. Clearly, this was the nightmare that plagued the tied man. Her smile malicious, one that made blood run still. She was speaking, but no words audible, in fact, the silence of everything was deafening. Soon though, a dull thump could be heard, quite like a heartbeat. The tempo picked up as the woman continued speaking. Finally, she raised her hand and pulled it down sharply, flaying the man alive without touching him. A silent scream echoed across the void. He hung lifeless and she left him, tears running down her cheeks. So it goes. A bridge, they were on a bridge. The venomous witch and a woman, tall, gorgeous with raven-black hair to her shoulders, streaked with vibrant violet. They were arguing it seemed, over what was unknown. The black and purple haired woman’s face was visible, her black colored lips read the words of “I love you.” Tears pouring down her face, smearing the slight eyeliner she was wearing, and her look was that of desperation. Tears cascaded over her cheeks and some made it far enough to touch her lips. Her violet eyes shone with inner power, though they dulled with sadness. Her face, neck, and chest flushed from , which was easily visible on her pale skin. She wore black leather with purple accents, having the look of an elegant sorceress. The sorceress clenched her fists together and yelled out at the witch, though now words were heard, her mouth showed all, however. “Why can’t you believe that! You believed it for all these years! But now you want me dead for what? So that you can—gah…I love you…please, believe me…I love you.” That was the thing she said that made the witch snap, caused the look of cold fury on her face, “I love you.” Those were the words that made the witch use her powers to hurl her lover off the bridge and onto the rocks below, impaling her in three spots: shoulder, thigh, and ankle. She gasped at the excruciating pain and her eyes rolled back. She tried fighting the darkness that attempted to overcome her. She failed however, mouthed out her lover’s name, and fell unconscious. The Witch? Willow. The Victim? Amy…

Amy woke up with a jolt. She sat up quickly, her body coated in a light sheen of sweat. Her black hair plastered to her forehead and cheek. Her breathing laboured. The girl looked around and saw no one, nothing. Sighing from relief, she laid back down, her arms splayed out above her haphazardly. She hit the head board of her bed with her knuckles. “OW! Sonuva bitch!” She howled out and jumped up off her bed, holding her knuckles, kissing them softly, since they were all red and painful.
“Amy? Morgan? You okay over there?” Willow called out across the gap.
Amy turned around and looked out her window. “Yeah, I’m fine, just hit my hand…” She said, smiling weakly.
“Would you like me to kiss it and make it better?” Willow asked with a sexy smile on her face. Amy’s blood ran cold at the sight of the smile, remembering the look on the evil witch’s face. She was visibly scared of her best friend at that moment. “Amy? Are you okay?” The smile was gone and replaced by a look of concern. Amy shook her head to clear away the thoughts and looked back up at Willow with a false smile on her face.
“Mm-hmm. Of course.” She said sweetly. Willow raised a brow.
“Whatever you say…” She looked extremely skeptical of her blonde friend. “Hey, can you come over, like, now? We should start researching on what the hell you are. Cause, normal people can’t freeze things with their hands.” The redhead stated matter-of-factly.
Amy blushed, but still looked wary. “Look, Morgan…its been three days, you have to move on from the fear of it. We should find out what you are, this could be so cool! And, you could be that hero that fights those…things…and saves the damsels in distress! We could make you a spandex costume with your own, like, bat signal. You could do some serious good with this power of yours…” Willow said, begging almost.
Amy thought about it for about ten seconds. “Okay, let’s do it. I’ll bring my laptop over so we can work at the same time.” Willow smiled hugely. “I’ll be right over.”

Five minutes later the girls were sitting in Willow’s room on their respective computers. Willow was at her desktop in her rolling chair while Amy was laying down on Willow’s bed on her stomach, her laptop in front of her. Amy growled as her bangs fell in front of her face for the umpteenth time, so she pulled her hair back in a ponytail. She smiled at Willow, who had her brow quirked up at her friend’s spastic display.
“So, just to check, you are researching what I am, and I’m researching what that thing was?” Amy asked, Willow nodded. “Okay, just checking.”
After about a half hour of searching, Amy jumped up exited. “I found it! It a vampire! Or vampy’re as some texts say…basically it’s like the Hollywood kind, except killing it is different. Sunlight, fire, decapitation, wood through the heart!” She squealed again and did a happy dance. Willow laughed.
“Sit down you spaz…you’re gonna pull a muscle.” Willow said, still laughing.
Amy sat down on the bed again and calmed down. “Okay, so vampires are real, obviously some kind of magic is real, since I did make that poofy frosty thing happen, and thousands of types of demons are real…” They sat there thinking it over.
Willow finally looked up and at Amy. “You should try to manifest that power again…I’ll keep researching.” She said.
Amy sighed and looked apprehensive. “How?”
Willow was confused by that. “Um…meditate…that should help…”
Amy nodded and closed her computer. She sat cross legged on the bed and closed her eyes, concentrating on the power within her.
Willow turned back around and looked up Witches, but found nothing of her liking, all their power came from outside of their selves. She did, however, see something of interest. Called a Sorceress. She clicked on the link and read all about this breed of magick user. Coming primarily from the Isles, where Amy came from. How they can manifest their own power with concentration. Willow turned around to look at Amy, who was about a foot off the bed.
Purple motes of light danced around her and slowly went back to her, forming into corporeal material. Skin-tight black leather armor formed around Amy’s torso, upper arms, waist, legs and feet. All had amethyst accents throughout, Leather gloves the went to mid-wrist formed next. A waist length, black, military like coat manifested itself afterward. Amy fell to the bed exhausted. She laid back panting and Willow rushed over to her.
“Amy, honey? Are you okay?” She asked worried. Amy’s eyes fluttered open slowly, revealing the brightest amethyst eyes. Willow stifled a gasp. “Amy…is that…you in there?” She asked timidly, not wanting to annoy her friend or whatever possessed her.
Amy rolled her eyes at her. “Of course it’s me…I…I found the power…I then saw…a really cool outfit…and…tried to create it.” The sorceress raised a gloved and up and rubbed her fingers together. She admired how real it was, and how she created it out of her own power. “I guess it worked…”
Willow smiled and kneeled next to her. “I found out what you are…” Willow said, smiling more.
Amy looked at her happily. “And…what’s the verdict?”
“You’re a sorceress…you just proved it.” Willow revealed to her.
Amy squealed in happiness that she finally knew what she was. “I should continue finding out my powers and such…so I can fight those damn creatures…”
Willow smiled and nodded. She hugged her violet eyed friend and got up, walking over to her computer. She sat down and looked at the screen, re-reading the text about the sorceresses. She saw a footnote at the bottom of the screen about a ‘Slayer’. She decided to investigate it further. ‘One girl…blah blah… it says sorceresses are frequently targeted by Slayers on the orders of their Watchers. But in reality, where a slayer is found there is usually a connection to a sorceress. Hmm…slayers? Watchers?’ She mused to herself and researched into the dead of night, and into early morning.
