The morning after

Sammy I love Xander too, but I'm not sure I'm really getting him right yet! it is a little longer Katus Kaijou hope it doesn't disappoint! Suzie Que, as long as people want to read it I'll keep going till the story is finished I promise. But I wouldn't say no to the spike on top lol. Who would?
Hope you enjoy this chapter!

Xander woke in a bed that looked like a bad prop from a vampire movie and tilting his head slightly to the right he understood why. For smoking a cigarette and leaning against the wall was Spike.
“Welcome back Mate” he smirked
Xander tried to speak but his voice was gravelly. He coughed trying to clear it and ended up clutching at his wounded throat. Spike handed him a glass of water and he sipped slowly.
“Careful. Don’t try to talk for a few minutes” Spike smirked “I know. How will you manage?”
Xander shot him his patented Xander Harris death stare and found out it had no influence on the living dead. Then the night came rushing back to him.
“Fa-ith!” he barked out swallowing convulsively and splashing water on the covers.
Spike caught up the glass and placed it on the low table by the bed “Bint’s not dead if that’s what you’re worried about. Bloody poof of a sire turned up just as I was getting to the good bit. He took her with ‘im”
Xander relaxed and then tensed again.
“Bloody hell Harris aren’t you happy I didn’t kill her, even if she deserved it!”
Xander nodded and then shook his head “its just” he coughed again “then she could….”His voice trailed off the sudden lump making his throat even more painful and he rubbed at it gingerly.
“NO!” Spike looked down at him gamefaced and snarling “She doesn't get near you again"
Xander propped himself up on the blood red cushions and stared right at him "Why?"
Spike let the gameface ripple away, took a long drag from the cigarette and dropped it to the floor. "Your mine, Poof gave you to me."
Xander half smiled. "And you decked him for it"
Spike crushed the cigarette out under his heel and flashed Xander a grin. "No that was for me"
Buffy sat on the steps in the library head resting on her knees with Giles away this morning it seemed a lot bigger and more bookish. "Do you think that was why Xander wanted to go see Faith last night?"
Willow looked over curiously "hmm?"
"To get a concussion" Buffy nodded "I’m sure it would have been more fun with concussion"
"It wasn't that bad"
Buffy gave Willow her best horrified expression and dropped her head back down. Xander could have at least given her the heads up about this morning’s lesson and then she would have played hooky too.
Two men sat in a quiet corner of the airport drinking a poor excuse for tea.Conspicious only by how completely ordinary they seemed. Taking a sip of tea and grimacing slightly the sandy haired man sighed before he spoke. "You understand that you aren't here in an official capacity don't you"
Giles nodded. "I appreciate you talking to me at all Church we both know the rules."
"Only so we can break them properly isn't that right Rupert” He smiled.
The only response Giles gave was a small smile and took another sip of his tea.
The door opened to a surprisingly modern bathroom with a large bath tube set into the middle of the room and a smaller shower set into the wall by the door.
"You have running water? Hang on I thought that vampires can’t cross running water! I remember reading that in one of the books" Xander turned the tap in the shower and jumped back to avoid the surge of spray.
Spike laughed out loud. "Daft bugger. I'm not about to leap the tub if that’s what your thinking!"
Xander laughed at the idea and then blushed bright red as little Xander drew attention to Spikes clothing, or lack there of, in his mental picture.
"Well out. I may sleep like the dead but I don't want to smell like them"
Spike lent over his right shoulder and breathed deep through his nose before he murmured into Xander’s ear.
"But I like the way you smell luv" before blowing the air back across the fine hairs on his neck and sending a shiver down his body that not even the hot water of the shower could drive away.
Another man joined the two in the quiet corner.
"Sir" The trainee dropped his voice and looked warily around them to ensure they were not overheard "the 'girl' is aboard, the 'others' are with her"
A shared look had both Giles and Church smiling and rising out of their seats. "Very well. Return to the others"
The trainee cast one last wary glance at Giles before scuttling back the way he came.
"Lord were we like that?"
Giles laughed "No old friend much worse"
He frowned a little turning towards the window behind them and looking out at the plane were Faith now sat "Take care with her. She's very unpredictable"
"I will. Now go, see to your 'Scooby gang'!" He laughed. "Well that’s not something I ever expected to say to you"
Giles smiled “No, nor I expected to hear" "But Xander does love to come up with these things. The more they irate me the better"
"Liar. You love it" Church turned meet Rupert's eyes in the glass. "From the sounds of it we owe "all" of these children a great debt of gratitude. You aren't 'her' watcher any more. But that doesn't mean you can't see them all safe."
Giles frowned "I do try"
"Watching is much different to seeing old friend. We have spent a life time watching Rupert, but my time with the council has taught me that you can watch everything and still see nothing" he squeezed Giles shoulder and stepped away.
Long after the plane left Giles looked at his reflection in the window not seeing anything at all.
Xander dried himself slowly trying to figure out why he wasn't more freaked that he was in the home of a vampire.
“Well…” he sat onto the edge of the bath to dry his feet “what do I know?”
He sighed.
“Same as usual: Not much”.
He took a deep breath and started again “I know for a fact that there are at least three minions in the building having met them when they brought towels for me and reported to Spike about their hunts. So…there is no way I am leaving in one piece if Spike doesn’t want me too. I’m not even sure Buffy could get through that Cruz guy to get me and for some strange reason I’m feeling a little thrill at the fact that I am concealed away in here with Spike.” He paused with the towel draped over his head “and isn’t that freak worthy!”
“What am I doing! Spike has tried to kill us, beaten me over the head with a microscope and tried to kill Angel” Xander smirked a little “ok bonus there” “So why do I feel so safe here?” Xander dropped the towel to the floor and rested his head in his hands “And why am I more afraid to leave than I am to stay?”
On the other side of the door lounging on the bed Spike felt a sudden grin on his face and began to plan sweeping out of the room to gather his minions.
Having transferred Faith into the custody of suitably terrified watchers Angel felt himself relax for the first time in days. Slipping into the shower to wash the most recent excursion into the Sunndydale sewer system from his skin he reflected on how well the whole mess had cleaned up. Watchers took the troubled slayer away with little hassle to themselves and Spike took care of Harris so Buffy didn’t find out what Faith had almost done. He scrubbed his hair and then froze.
“SHIT! Xander!”
As he scrambled from the shower and hurriedly dressed Angel hoped Xander had yet to wake. A conscious Xander posed high probability of annoying those around him and Spike had one of the shortest fuses of man or demon alike.
Spike lounged in the chair at the centre of the room. His presence filling the large space easily and only enhanced by Cruz standing stoically by his side.
“You all saw the boy on the way in I take it?”
The minions nodded. A few of the older ones shuffled their feet and glanced at each other. Spike caught the look and narrowed his eyes.
“Got somthin' to say boys?”
They twitched. It was not a good idea to question Spikes judgment. It was a mistake you only made once; in fact it was often the last mistake you would ever make.
One of the braver, or more stupider minions spoke up “Its just that…” He trailed of at the look on Spikes face but continued when he saw Spikes patience start to wear thin “…he is the Slayer’s boy” the demon hissed the word Slayer like it left a filthy taste in his mouth.
Spike surged to his feet and hauled the minion into the air by his neck.
And snarled ”BOY’S MINE!” into his face before separating his head from his body and turning to face the others through the still falling dust. ”Have I made myself clear?”
He pulled his demon to the fore growling lowly. “He is under our protection and any of you gits let anything happen to him and I will personally drive crosses in to you delicate bits and leave you out to get a tan”.
The assorted minions hurried to swear. If the master wanted them to protect his pet who were they to argue.
As Spike returned upstairs to fetch Xander a few minions subtly shook the remains of their late colleague from their clothes.
Xander looked up as Spike returned. He was growling lowly and covered in dust. Worry creased his brow and he rose to his feet crossing the room to brush dust from the shoulders of his duster.
“What happened? Was there a fight”
Spike smiled at Xander’s concern “Don’t worry mate all bits present and accounted for”
Xander blushed red as he considered Spike’s bits. Bits that were quite close at the moment Xander jr. reminded him.
Spike fought to keep his demon under control as Xander’s arousal flooded his senses. He had just decided to kiss Xander and began to lean forward, when Cruz arrived at the door.
“Master Spike. Your grandsire has arrived. He demands to see the boy”
And Spike pulled back with a soft snarl.
“Stay here pet. I’ll go see to the wanker” Spike swept from the room. Cruz took one last look at the dazed look on the boy’s face before following Spike back downstairs and decided he was very glad he wasn’t in Angel's shoes right now.
