Changes

A week passed in no time and Buffy already felt as if she had been with the group for years and loved every minute of it. It was lunch time on Friday and Xander and Willow sat in the cafeteria waiting for Buffy and Jesse to arrive.
“I think im going to ask her out.” Xander announced.
“Really?” Willow asked looking at her friend trying to be supportive but feeling her stomach twist.

“Yeah I mean we’re friends now and she’s not like other girls I think she’d give me a chance.” Xander nodded to himself.
“When you gunna ask her?” Willow asked masking the sadness in her voice.
“Now.” Xander gulped watching as Buffy walked in. He stood up and strode over to meet her.

“Hey Buff.” He greeted shyly.
“Hey Xand.” Buffy nodded at him glancing eagerly at Willow over his shoulder.
“Can I talk to you?” Xander asked nervously.
“Um sure let’s go outside.” Buffy nodded wondering what was going on.
Why is he so nervous?
“Okay Buff I feel like ive got to know you a lot over the last week and safe to say I really like you so im just gunna come out and say it. Will you go out with me?” He asked shutting his eyes once it was all out not wanting to see her horrified look.
Buffy blinked at him stupidly trying to figure out what he had just asked.
No way! Is he kidding?!

“
Are you serious?” Buffy asked quietly.
“Sadly yes.” Xander sighed finally opening his eyes and scratching the back of his neck nervously.

“Xand…”

“No it’s okay Buff really.” Xander interrupted already backing away.
“No Xand it’s not like that will you just listen.” She pleaded.
Xander stopped moving and sat down at a nearby bench and Buffy sat opposite him. She reached across the table and held his hand smiling at him.
“Xand we’re friends okay? You’re like one of my best friends now that im here…” Buffy began soothingly.

“But you don’t like me like that.” Xander sighed.
“No Xand I don’t like ANY guy like that.” Buffy said quietly biting her lips waiting for his reaction. He looked at her confused for a moment before realisation dawned on him.
“Wait! You’re a…..lesbian?” Xander whispered the last part looking around to check if anyone was listening.

Buffy nodded not meeting his eye. Xander sat there gob smacked. That he was not expecting. Suddenly his face lifted and he grinned happily.
“Wow…I got a hot lesbian best friend.” He laughed and she smiled slapping him on the arm.
“Thanks!” She laughed good naturedly.
“I can’t believe it. Why didn’t you tell us?” Xander asked.
“Well you never asked and it’s not the kind of thing you just tell people after a week. I was kinda hoping you’d just guess. I thought I was being obvious.” Buffy laughed.
“How was you being obvious?! I haven’t seen you pay attention to one girl! Except for Will…” Xander trailed off his eyes as wide as saucers now. He started to splutter choking on his tongue as he tried to make some sort of noise. The thought of his two best friends making out however had filled his head and he couldn’t think straight.

“Are you freaked?” Buffy sighed.
“No…of course not! It’s just…Willow’s not…I mean…im sorry Buff but she’s straight.” Xander said quietly.
“Yeah I know…cant blame a girl for trying though right.” Buffy laughed sadly.
Xander smiled sympathetically at her and stood up to pull her into a hug.
“Good luck anyway Buff…thanks for telling me…wish you’d told me sooner instead of me embarrassing myself but better late than never.” Xander teased. Buffy just rolled her eyes and followed him back into the lunch room.

“Hey Willow my beautiful friend.” Xander greeted his best friend in a surprisingly good mood considering he had just found out the girl he had a serious crush on was crushing on his girl best friend. He couldn’t help it though. Buffy being gay just made her hotter and Xander prayed that maybe one day she’d make out with someone in front of him.

Man I am such a typical teenager.

He snorted to himself and took his seat studying Willow and Buffy as they talked happily together. He saw the completely smitten look on Buffy’s face and felt kind of sorry for her but at the same time he was a bit confused. No offence to Willow but Buffy was seriously hot and Willow…well…she had the potential he guessed.

Xander looked at Willow really studied her instead of the quick glances he usually sent her way and realised that the red head was in fact pretty. She had bright green eyes and a cute pixie face.

Wow willow could probably be hot if she wore a bit of make up Xander realised. He frowned when he saw Willows face light up when Buffy told a particularly funny joke and he smirked when he saw her lean into the blonde slightly.

Hmm…maybe I was completely wrong about Will after all.
