4a With friends like mine

Part Four: With friends like mine

At the Bronze Buffy could not have planned it any better, it was a little after ten and Willow was sitting alone at their usual table. “What’s up? Where’s Oz?”

Willow just looked up at her trying not to scream, trying to trust Oz like she said she did. He’d left her a message said that he wouldn’t be back until Monday. And when she called Xander’s house to invite him to the Bronze his father said he wasn’t there. Said she should find her boyfriend and maybe she’d find Xander too, he didn’t expects the boy to come home at all tonight since he’s got a new friend and then he just hung up the phone. “Oz had to leave and do band stuff this weekend he’ll be back on Monday.”

“Where’s Xan, I haven’t seen him all day? Have you talked to him?” if they handed out awards for steering a person to make the right conclusions without setting off their radar, Buffy thought she just might be able to earn herself a prize.

“No, I called, but his dad said he wasn’t there.”

“Oh…okay wanna dance till the boys get here?”

Thirty minutes later Willow was sitting at their table being a witch not a super powered slayer type she needed breath and a break. Buffy was grinding against some poor guy she didn’t recognize. Buffy moved around him sidestepping any attempt to get too close. Willow never understood that push and pull she always thought it was kinda mean at the least. The poor guy would step in and the slayer would move away and just when he looked ready to give up and move on she moved her hips against his and he was hooked again.

Buffy was having fun. The night wasn’t a total bust this guy was no Angel but he was a hottie. The game though was growing old and when the song changed she simply turned around pulled out a stake and shoved it through his heart. He turned into a dust cloud and she just walked trough it to get back to the table were there should be a drink waiting for her. That’s when she saw him standing in the corner. He smiled and nodded at her and moved so they would converge at the table where Willow was sitting.

Angel had been watching the dance and why should he be surprised. //Don’t say it.//

/What? What could I possibly say that you are not thinking…/ Angelus was laughing, /…remember I’m in your head./

//You don’t have to be so smug about it.//

/You worry too much, I have a feeling that the slayer will make all our choices for us./

//What do you mean by that?//

/Just what I said when the summer is over I can almost guarantee the slayer will not be your choice./

//Who’s to say the boy will be my choice even if the slayers not?//

Angelus moved into the background he had no wish to he anywhere near the slayer, so when they got within touching distance he withdrew as far as he could, taking comfort in the cage he was in was so deep inside Angel’s head, happy that he could hide if he needed. Sometimes if he tried he could even ignore the itch that bitch seem to produce every time he insisted on getting near her.

He moved toward Buffy and kissed her check avoiding her mouth for some reason kissing her was not a particularly interesting idea. “Hi”

“Hi, how have you been? Hoped you’d show tonight. How’s Xan?” Either way she wins if he hasn’t seen him, then Xander’s with Oz and if he has then at least Buffy and Angel are trying to help and Willow is not.

“I haven’t seen him. Have you?” He knew the answers to these questions he was just wondering why she was asking them. With the mention of their boy Angelus crept a little closer to the bars. /I don’t trust her, something’s wrong and I don’t like it. Never once has she asked about the boy unless it pertained to her getting a cappuccino./ “Would you like to dance, but I must insist if you want to change partners you just tell me.”

Buffy threw her head back and laughed exposing her neck, something she knows he likes. “You can’t blame me I was just having a little fun, till you got here.”

Willow felt totally left out as they walked to the dance floor she didn’t have Oz or Xander to keep her company and Buffy and Angel sure were not dancing like they were having relationship problems. Actually they looked like they were in the honeymoon stages from where she sat. She could figure this out it was Saturday she had till Thursday that gave a little over five days, she could do this. It would be helping her Xan right, she’d make sure it helped. Maybe even find him a nice human girlfriend.

***
Xander got up put on clean cloths vowed that today would be the day he got his hair cut and started up the steps. Her parents had been acting strangely the last few days. When he’d come in the other day they had actually gone to bed in their own room leaving him a clear shot to his basement getaway. He said goodbye to his mom who said goodbye back, grabbed his book bag and stepped out into a beautiful Sunnydale day. He really hadn’t seen any of the gang since last Friday and here it was Monday and he really didn’t miss them, he did miss Angel though but the vampire had come by last night. Asked him to come out and talk, at first it had been a little strange then they started talking about books, then it was movies and then they moved on to music. Before Xander knew it he was yawning and trying to sneak back into his basement window without making too much noise.

He was already late so he skipped the morning get together and went straight to his locker and got his gym cloths, smelly or not best not disappoint the gym teacher if your weren’t an athlete. By the time he found out he didn’t have to dress out Oz was sitting next to Willow on the bleachers along with the rest of the kids in their class. “What are you gonna do with your free period?” Willow asked.

“I was thinking breakfast run. What do you say Oz? Give a guy a ride to the nearest grease trap?” Xander tried to look adorable and hungry. One or the other always seemed to work.

“Sure man.” Oz was all for a grease induced coma.

“You coming Wills, can we interest you in a little heart disease?”

“No, no that’s okay I think I’ll just go to the library, I’ve got some research to do.” Willow was already gathering her books.

***
The last day of school was only a half day and found the Scooby’s sitting in the library while all the rest of the Sunnydale High population was running not walking through the nearest exit door school was over for the summer. He’d passed everything, but he could have done better. Next year they’d all be juniors, next year he’d do better.

All his talks with Angel over the last few days have been changing, no not changing evolving his point of view. Certain things didn’t make since to him any more, like why he was so willing to let the rest of the Scooby’s see him as the clown, the idiot, bait. That’s what he got at home and at home he had no choice. With the Scooby’s though he had a choice, he didn’t have to stay and as Buffy was fond of pointing out he wasn’t the best fighter or the best researcher, maybe there was something else for him to do something that didn’t require him to be in pain at the end of it.

Maybe he could do more work with Giles or even Willow on the magic side of things. This whole bait on demand thing had to stop. He could get Angel hurt that way, and since the vampire had made it clear that he considered Xander a gift. A gift Angel planned on keeping, it wasn’t fair to keep letting his friends dangle him like a pork chop over a crate of snarling pit-bulls.

In their conversations he had asked Angel why he had, been so nice, taken to him even after the way they had started out. Angel answer was simple, “Because they gave you to me. You are mine to do with as I want and I want to keep you. In the old days a village or a family would give a master vampire or a clan a gift to do with what they pleased to save the rest and you consider the Scooby’s your family and they gave you to me, so now your mine.” There was a long pause and then the vampire spoke again, “And the answer is no, I would not just accept anyone as a gift. I might have protected them yes, but I would not have given them a place in the house of Aurelius. You mean something to us, I just don’t know what yet.”

Xander was fine with that. Now though he sat in the library waiting for the guys to decide what they were going to do tonight. It was Wednesday and school had only been a half day so he had time and one of the books Angel had gotten for him.

“What’s up with you, you’ve been all bookie lately. Your not bookie guy your…” Buffy was cut off by Oz.

“Hey, Buffy what’s the plan for tonight? I was thinking that, I would like to spend some time with my girl, unless we’re needed to fight the nasties of the night.” Oz was lounging against the back wall, Xander had to wonder if he even made it to class today. How in the hell did Oz pass any of his classes.

Buffy eyes lit up, the ideas of spending one of her last two nights here with Angel was a really good idea. “Um why don’t you take Xander home and me and Willow can get some girlie stuff done while Giles is in his meetings. Then I promise to have her home early, before dark even.”

“Cool, you ready Xan?” Oz was on his feet the slayer had been giving him the wiggins lately and the further away from her the better. Willow was on some kick to find a spell of some kind or other and he knew that when she was on a ‘must find the answer’ kick, the best he could was distract her for a while and he meant to distract her tonight.

When the boys were gone Willow laid her head down and gave a sigh she was obviously not finding what she was looking for. Buffy was tired of waiting and had other things she wanted to do. She walked to the shelf and took three books off the shelves at random it seemed. “I’ll help, what are the things I need to look for?” Buff was all smiles and sunshiny hope.

Willow really thought Buffy could be the one to find the right spell, not. She had been looking for four days. “Thanks Buffy I could use the help. It’s just that I find some that do this and some that do that but not ones that do this and that.”

After Willow’s explanations Buffy sat there flipping through the first book while asking questions about what they needed to make the spell actually work. By the time she got to the second book she wanted out of the library and into the sunshine, it was summertime and she was free. So when she slid the second book across the table, “What about this one, will it work?”

Out of politeness Willow took a look, the first part would work. The second part was a little ifie, she wasn’t sure she wanted the transformation to based on what she wanted it to do, but the last part about helping the transformed find their true path didn’t sound so bad. Flipping the book over to look at the binding she was a little dazed but not much so. She was only reading a bunch of bound pages, this happened sometimes especially with the old books sometimes they just fell apart. She took in a breath and got ready to admit surrender, “This could do it, where did you find it? I’ve been looking for four days.”

Buffy tilted her head and looked at Willow in the eye and said, “I just pulled it from under the stack on Giles’ desk along with the others. He doesn’t think I know but I know that the stuff Oz said worried him too. So I hoped he’d been looking, but when I asked he said that the spell would take too much time and a certain amount of power that he didn’t think he could come up with. I’ve been thinking about that too…”

“Why didn’t you tell me! I’ve been lookin’ for four days.” Willow was beyond mad, why had she held out on her and the phrase ‘amount of power and apparently Buffy had an idea for that as well, she couldn’t resist. “What’s your idea?”

“Well, first I thought you would talk to Giles first, you and him like to go all bookie together and second been kind of busy clearing out any kind of trouble Giles can see coming to make sure my summer of freedom won’t suck the world into hell.” Buffy thought maybe she needed to play a little harder to get. “Look I’m sorry if you been looking for all this time…just don’t worry we’ll go with plan A, okay no big.”

Willow’s head was spinning and she settled on, Plan A, what was plan A again? Oh yeah, it was the one where I ask my Oz to watch over my best friend that smells like werewolf candy. “Sorry to much caffeine. You’ve got an idea about the power issue? What is it?” She gave her best book worm smile all the while admitting to herself that this was pretty much their last chance.

Willow knew they were running out of time and whatever they were going to do she would need to get everything ready first that meant supplies and incantations to learn among other stuff, and after all the begging she did to her parents there was no way she could to be late for the plain that was taking her to the Wicca retreat. “What’s your idea about the power source problem?”

“I know its stupid but I was thinking that you could use me like you did in the park that night with the small creepies, and bam instant slayer power plus witchie power to.” Buffy was all but laying it out in front of her with a sign pointing here right here.

“Uhm, well that’s an idea, yeah.” Willow’s brain was already spinning she had never done anything like this before, Buffy was right it would require a mass amount of power and a few ingredients she didn’t have, she could get them though. Just like that the spell had been decided on, they would use some of Buffy’s essence to power and fortify the spell and as simple as pie Xander would be demon candy no more.

“Okay the spell needs to be done at sunset and at the rising of the new day the new form will assert itself. So, that puts a halt on any spell casting for today there is no way I can get all the stuff we’ll need by sunset.” The witch was in her element and quiet happy to ignore the fact that Buffy was still there.

Willow was poring over the text and making lists, Buffy knew her job was done. “You need me for anything or can I go home and change some of us still need to go out and pound nasties later. No doubt Giles will have a list of places for Angel and me to check before I officially get my summer vacation.” Buffy had been spinning her favorite stake in her right hand as she talked.

When Willow looked up at Buffy the slayer looked totally bored “No Buffy. I will need you to get to my house before sunset tomorrow though to help cast the spell and I need to get some stuff to cast it too, oh and I need to learn the pronunciation of these words.”

Before Willow finished the slayer was on her feet as she said “Okay, see ya at sunset tomorrow and remember to go home soon I promised Oz before sundown, okay.” Buffy was all smiles leaving the witch behind to immersed in the pursuit of finding the ingredients needed the how’s and when’s they need to pull this off.

Oz was getting close to Xander’s street he didn’t want to assume that he wanted to go home so he asked “Where do you want me to drop you?”

Xander looked around watching the café that had become his second home as of late get smaller in his rearview window. Oz had been nicer to him lately but now he acted as if he couldn’t wait to get rid of him, so he said “Homes fine, thanks for the ride.” That was the last thing he said to Oz if Xander knew anything he knew when someone didn’t really want him around after all he had more that sixteen years of experience.

Oz would have felt worse for just dropping Xander off so quick, except he was looking forward to the sunset meet up with Willow. They may not have gone all the way yet but he was far from unhappy. He knew that his little witch wasn’t always reading school stuff behind the plain brown covers she uses.

Oz pulled away and for some reason took a look back and saw Xander was walking away from his house. Oz shook his head knowing he should have done better, but not knowing how he should have gone about it. Xander already smelled different. The vampire was taking his time, but he was doing something. After summer Oz thought watching Xander in his rear view window get smaller and smaller he vowed that he would do something more for Xander. Aafter the summer if things hadn’t changed to his liking.

So this afternoon was spent as usual Xander was camping out at the café. Come to think of it did the café even have a name he didn’t know and he spent his time sleeping, eating and reading in what was now his spot there. Just to make sure not to piss of the nice lady running the place, he always bussed his own plates and even gave up his coveted spot if it got to busy and setting ran out. He was working his way up to asking for a job on Friday, it wouldn’t have to be much just enough so Angel could stop giving him money.

On the way home he ran into an ambitious fledge who thought he’d make a good dinner snack. Odd thing though when the fledge got close he hesitated and that was more enough time for Xander to stake him. All Xander could think on the rest of his walk home was ya for off limits invisible vampire signage.

Things had become really strange at home after that day his loving father would hardly look at him and last night he asked, ASKED, if he would bring up the laundry he’d taken down stairs yesterday. His father was even going out of his way, not to come in contact with him, not that Xander stayed at home long enough to be ran into.

After all was said and done he was a little disappointed Oz had dropped him off so soon he walked back to the café and spent his day reading comic books, now he was laying in bed planning out his day tomorrow. Most likely his parents won’t even notice that he’s not in school for another couple of weeks yet so if he just got up and went out in the morning like he was going to school it would go unnoticed he wasn’t actually going to school anymore.

Staring at the ceiling he had to admit what he really wanted was to see Angel. He knew in his head that Angle should be spending this time with Buffy because she was leaving in two days, really only one day and didn’t that just make him happy in ways he really did not want to explain. Xander just keeps telling himself that with the rest of the Scooby’s gone he and Angel would have more time to do guy type activities. What was kind of strange was that the only activities he wanted to try with Angel again were the ones he’d done with him on that first night that the vampire had chosen him over Buffy. As soon as the thoughts crossed his mind he wished they hadn’t, this was the hellmouth and it had a way of giving you the things you want except they never came exactly the way you wanted them to. He decided it was time for him to get some sleep he had to get up early even though this Thursday was no longer a school day.

***
In the old caves just north of the welcome sign to Sunnydale Buffy and Angel were clearing out a nest of vampires. There where more than they thought there would be but they hadn’t been the problem. The vamps had a werewolf and even though it wasn’t a full moon it was wolfed out and defending the lair to the best of it’s ability. Neither he nor Buffy wanted to kill it till they found out if it was Oz or not.

Finally Buffy got feed up when the creature took a practically viscous swipe at her. Before Angel could do anything she had cracked its spine. Angel voices was left no room to misunderstand his anger at what she had done, “Buffy!”

She tried to look innocent, “What?”

As the wolf lost consciousness he turned back into its human form. Thank the gods that it wasn’t Oz, he would not have liked to explain why Oz may never be able to walk again. “What if that had been Oz?”

“Um…well, it was him or us, and besides he’s not dead. Is he?” Buffy was bent over the now naked man trying to discern if she knew he or not, maybe she’d seen him at the Bronze.

“No, but now I’ll have to get him somewhere safe its at least two weeks till the next full moon.” All the time Angel spoke he was dreading trying to pick up the now harmless looking man, if he was correct there were four claw marks down the center of his back.

/Now that we are bleeding and hurt, I wonder what your slayer will do?/

//Quiet!//

Buffy was checking herself over, she had a few bruises and a few scratches nothing she couldn’t explain and they’d be gone by tomorrow. Tonight she just wanted to go home and not have to deal with the wolf herself. “Your gonna take him somewhere then?” back to the most innocent she could be Buffy wasn’t so much asking as much telling.

“Yeah but I’m not doing so good and I don’t think my place is the right place for him right now. Besides we leave him here and he’ll be vamp food or demon chow.” Xander was rubbing off on him in more ways than one and that idea made him smile just a little.

Buffy listened but she just didn’t care, “Alright we should move this back to Giles’ then you think or the hospital?”

Angel was trying to hold himself up as straight as possible for some reason he had no interest in showing to much weakness in front of this girl. “Whichever is closer, I can’t carry him to far.”

“‘Your like 250, don’t be a baby. We’ll be as good as new by sundown tomorrow.” She rubbed her hand over Angle’s bicep and she spoke and he tried not to flinch away. To make her point she walked over and reached down and snatched the wolf off the ground slinging him over her shoulder. “Just keep him at your house tonight or maybe Xander can take him in.”

She had meant that a second part to be a joke, but the look in Angel’s eyes said differently he was not taking her word as a joke. “That’s a good idea, even if we can’t put the wolf there Xander might know a place to put him.”

She was huffy know “Why would Xander know where to put him?”

“You’d be surprised at what he knows. He’s lived here all his life he has to know where theres a shelter or something. If he doesn’t there’s a place I can take him but that’s a last resort. Let’s get going I’m sure you want to get home and take care of those bruises.” When he turned his back on her he started to smile, she’s the one who said go to Xander’s.

Once there Angel moved around to the back of the house and even if he wasn’t ready to recognize it the bond between them was already pulling at him. When Angel knocked on the window Xander was already there, climbing up the chair he keeps there now just for this proposes.

Xander was looking at him, “Angel you okay?”

Angel reached down helping Xander up and out of the small space. “No, I’m not and I’ve brought company.”

“Angel?” Xander had just gone to sleep and was a little confused, moving to look around Angels back Xander head tilted when he caught sight of a very pissed Buffy carrying what looked like a naked man over her shoulder except he was twisted all wrong.

Angel expected to have to explain what he was doing here, but he didn’t have to. The next thing the boy said endeared him beyond measure to Angel and made Angelus sit up and preen at his choice of mate. Xander pulled back and started to speak, “You don’t look to good, why don’t you go down into my room and I’ll help get that guy inside.” Xander was already moving them towards the window.

He walked up and said “Hey Buff you coming in? Try to be quiet cause parental units sleeping, okay. You need some help?”

Buffy was trying to decide what to do should she come in to keep an eye on them. Before her mind was made up Angel hushed voice came to them. “She still has to check in with Giles to make sure we are actually done for tonight.” Then Angel and his voice were gone.

The two teenagers moved to the window and passed the unresponsive body though where Angel was waiting. Xander moved to follow but was held up by a hand on his shoulder.

Angle was right she did have to go back to Giles before going home, but she needed to make sure that the she was only leaving Angel here to heal and deal with the werewolf. “Hey Xan you meeting us at the Bronze for our last night right? I’m looking forward to seeing you.”

This was strange she saw him all the time. Xander didn’t like the look in her eye and something told him to agree with her and get away from her as soon as he could. “Yeah Buffy wouldn’t miss is, it’s yours and Willows last night, no way I’d miss it.”

“Cool, and would you take care of Angel for me. I think he got a little hurt in our last brawl. I think he’s being all I’m way stronger than I am.” Buffy smiled and walked away.

Xander could have stood there another hour or two if he hadn’t realized he had a vampire and an almost dead guy in his parent’s basement. Making his way through the window he could see that Angel had laid the man or boy really on the only flat surface other than the bed a table beside the washer and dyer. Angel was sitting on his bed and didn’t that just send a sparks through Xander.

“What happened? Who is he?”

Angel wanted to lay down, but his back wouldn’t let him. Out of the corner of his eye he could see Xander checking over the wolf arranging the limbs in a position more conducive to humans. He didn’t envy the wolf it was two weeks till the first full moon when the boy could change and heal. Then there was the question of how in the hell the boy had wolfed out when the moon was less than half full he remembered reading or being told something about this happening but he couldn’t remember just now.

When Xander said, “Tell me what happened. Who is this?”

/Tell him. Tell him that your beautiful slayer broke the wolf’s spine. Tell him that when she did she had no idea where the witch’s wolf was./

With a growl Angel had meant for his internal companion that seemed to have escaped to heard by Xander anyway, “Not now, okay. Let’s just say I get to clean up after Buffy once more.”

As in all times of violence and pain his demon was closer to the surface, after all that’s what his demon did, it gave and took pain. When Xander said for him to get up he obeyed without even thinking about it. Again proving him and his demon trusted the boy. He was pushed pulled coat and shirt removed then he found himself shirtless and face down on Xander’s bed, all he could think was he wanted to sink into whatever or whoever smelled this good. When the warm water came in contact with his cool skin he just let out a little growl that turned into a purring sound.

Angel was tired and all he wanted was to sleep even just for a little while. He heard the boy speak, “The bleedings almost stopped but the wounds aren’t closing. How long has it been since you had any human blood. No wait don’t answer that. Just stay still alright I’ll be right back.

When Xander came back from the bathroom he dressed the guy Angel had brought in some old sweats, then next he removed his own shirt, when he got back to the bed he laid down on his back next to vampire looked over and waited. It was so strange Angel didn’t move in his sleep no breathing no twitching nothing and he still looked like he was brooding over something. When a heavy arm locked over his chest and pulled him closer it wasn’t unexpected. He still made a little whimpering sound and he knew in the back of his mind that was the wrong thing to do or maybe it was the right thing because it denoted him as prey and wasn’t that what he was going for.

Without any help on his part Xander found himself laying on his side with his back to Angels front. Angel started to nuzzle the back of his neck and even though they had done this before all Xander could think was God this was his life. For the first time he felt lucky, something he had never felt before. Then Angel did something amazing he rocked his hips forward and then back, and then did it again and again. Helpless to stop the vampire, and with no means of escape from him either Xander just gave in. Nothing had ever felt so right in his short life.

“Angel please.”

His mind seemed to take a vacation every time they got close like this. In response to Xander’s words Angel pulled his hand free from Xander’s hair where it had locked his head and neck immobile since the first whimper and placed that hand on boys hip pulling him back flush with each of Angel’s thrusts pulling them into a rhythm, that’s when Angel sunk his teeth into his boy. Xander tried to think of other things anything else but his owner would not be denied. Everything in him screamed for him to submit, just go along. In the end his brain gave in and let his body have its way. He ground his ass back against the hips pushing against him.

It didn’t take long for him to come close to completion moving with Angel like this, but before he did for the first time he felt something new. Angel’s body went rigid and after a second started to shake, the knowledge of what just happened forced Xander over the edge too. Angel had come while feeding from and moving against him, did that constitute cheating or were they still in safe friend territory? Xander would have chosen this moment to panic except Angel started to purr and sleep took them both.

Waking up Xander had a since that there was no way his luck would continue, something would go wrong. He felt safe cared for and happy. The thought of it all being taken away racked him with tremors and then sobs, because he may belong to Angel but Angel did not belong to him. He belonged to Buffy.

Angel’s first reaction when he felt the tremors and heard the sobs from the body, in front of him was to pull it closer to him. The smell of sadness coming off his boy was almost nauseating. He could tell that his boy needed comfort and even with his demon receding Angel wanted to give it. He bit into the fleshy underside of his forearm and placed it in front of Xander’s face.

Even through the tears the call of his owner’s blood was so strong. Xander took what was offered. Angel stared to rock and purr once again, ”It’s alright beagán éileamh we have centuries to figure out our places. “

Lulled by the body behind him and the soft words spoken Xander sunk back into sleep. Angel got up after Xander’s breathing evened out and found his discarded coat and shirt. Then he collected the wolf from the corner he had a couple of hours yet before sunrise and allot to do still.

Standing outside the abandoned building that housed Nicholas and the others he was meet by three vampires each he had meet before. Angel pulled down the mask of Master Vampire easily too easily for his liking. “I need you to take him, keep him safe and confined. You’ll need a cage or chain enough to hold a full grown werewolf. Do you need anything before I go?” Angel was in no mood for small talk and he was a little confused with the way he felt leaving Xander this morning. It was Angel not Angelus who wanted to stay to hold the boy to make sure Xander’s nightmares didn’t follow him into his sleep.

“No Master.” The vampires answered quickly and to the point they could tell that Angel was in no frame of mind for even base pleasantries at this instant.

Angel left the ruined clothing behind and climbed into bed in the basement level of his new house and thought he would sleep, could sleep the day away and deal with all the complications of his life at sundown, but Angelus was in his head and not letting him rest.

/I want him. I need him. I miss him…/

//The sun will be up soon.//

/Want him. Need him. Miss him…/ Came louder and more instant. The strange thing was the Angel wanted too.

Angel gave the only consolation that he could to his demon. He went and got the clothes he had been wearing bloody and stained with dirt, but also permeated with Xander’s sent and put them in bed with him using them as a pillow. The hum in his head / Want him. Need him. Miss him…/ was still there just lower allowing him to sleep.
