Family Roots
Chapter 3
She was running for her life. The baby gurgled in her arms, unaware of the apparent danger. It would only be a matter of time before Hades would capture her and take the baby with him. The nymph collapsed by a nearby pool. The little bundle in her arms wailed because of the sudden fall.
“Shush now little one. I will find a place where you will be safe from him.” Tali held her daughter close to her chest, trying to calm her own fear. She closed her eyes and let a single tear fall onto the babe’s cheek.
“I know I cannot have you in this world my darling. You are a daughter of Hades therefore he will mould you into his own once he captures you. I won’t let that happen. I don’t want to go to The Sister’s because I know there is always a price to pay, but if I don’t…” She shook her head and squeezed her eyes from letting the torrents of tears to flow. Tali stood and headed for the hut.
The Sisters eyed the baby in its bundle of cloth. The baby gurgled and tried to pull the closest sister’s hair. The Sisters scowled and glared at the nervous nymph.
“Why have you come here Talimon? You know the laws set for nymphs. Those who tread here twice are immediately sent to Lord Hades.”
“I am aware of the law, but there is also the matter of my wish…” Tali squared her shoulders and looked fiercely at The Sisters.
“Very well…what is your wish?”
“I wish for my daughter to live in another world. Not in another part of the world, a whole different dimension. A place where Hades cannot touch her.”
“You are aware Talimon, that your wish will disrupt the dimension we place her in. And for this wish to be granted it will have its consequences.”
“Yes, I know. But the law states I may be granted my wish before you turn me over to him.”
“Very well.” The Sisters huddled together and gathered the ingredients for the spell. Talimon spoke to her daughter for the last time.
“I will miss you my Faith. You will always be a part of me. Even though Hades is your father you will never posses his dark heart. I promise. “
“It is ready.” The Sisters looked at baby Faith and Talimon.
“What is the consequence?” Talimon still wouldn’t allow her tears to fall.
“We are placing your daughter in a realm much like this one. The consequence is that she will be tied down to an ancient line of warriors. She will fight until she dies. It is the only way she can live in that realm without totally upsetting the balance.”
Talimon looked at her daughter and prayed to all the gods to keep her daughter safe.
“Do you hear that darling? You will be a savior of Man and no god in this world will be able to touch you.”
She kissed her daughter for the last time and watched as the babe was enveloped in a beam of blue light.

Hades watched in his vision pool as his daughter was being transported to Earth. The anger swirled inside him making the blue flames in his eyes peak. He bellowed for his servants.
“Anger! Anguish!” The minions scurried to his feet.
“I want you to accompany my daughter on Earth. Make sure she stays alive till she’s ready. I’ll need her when she’s at her heightened power.”
“Yes oh holy dark Lord!” The minions groveled repeatedly as they slithered away. The Lord of the Underworld grinned manically.
“Zeus will never know what hit him.”
