Author: Aislynn

Disclaimer: It’s not mine all of it belongs to Joss, and Mutant Enemy. I just fell in love with Buffy from the very first episode.

Summary: AU from the end of Season 3 of Buffy, not a Spuffy like my other stories. So the new Slayer is Synn Colton as you learned and this chapter is more to set up the character.I hope you like the changes I make to the two worlds, and how the entry of this one person will change the events that follow.

End of Chapter 3

“Let me get started on this.” Wesley sighed walking over to the computer. “I may have to call Willow for some assistance.”

“Whatever it takes but we have to find this girl.”

Chapter 4 – An Encounter

Wesley ran into Angel’s office. “We or rather Willow and I located this Slayer, if we are correct that leads us to.” Wesley paused as he scanned the computer before him with Willow on the other side it made things much easier. “She’s at a hotel about 20 minutes away.”

“How did you find her so quickly?” Cordelia asked coming up behind Wesley looking at the screen.

“Willow was able to do a location spell and able to triangulate the girls location by focusing on the energy of a Slayer in the area, then we utilized those coordinates to pinpoint her exact location.” Wesley smiled.

“Well that beats the old fashioned way of running down a lead.” Cordelia pouted silently all her hard work for nothing, they really needed to come up with these spells earlier and save her the trouble.

“We should get going them.” Angel grabbed his coat and led the way, he wasn’t sure about taking everyone along, but they all seemed pumped up and ready to meet a new Slayer. “Where are we going?”

Synn emerged from the stairwell, and head toward the lobby assuming that Lindsey was waiting at the desk she headed in that general direction. One sweep of the elegant entry way revealed that he was no where in the lobby, which meant she was going to have to go looking for him. There were two bars, a spa, and a 5 star restaurant in the hotel. It was Friday evening so she decided to check the bars first.

The bar was swanky with people from all walks of life brushing shoulders. The range of attire went from jeans and a tee to designer suits. Things were lively in the bar since it was Friday, and Synn scooted past two men engaged in a lively debate about a recent sporting event. Glancing about the room she sighed not seeing him and was about to leave when her gaze returned to the bar. At first glance she passed over him because she expected Lindsey to be one of the power players at the hotel wearing their designer suits. Tonight he was wearing quite the opposite.

Lindsey was leaning against the bar wearing casual blue striped button down shirt and jeans with a pair dark brown docks. He looked as comfortable in this attire as he did in his suit and she wasn’t sure what she preferred business or casual. Even his hair so perfect during their first meeting was tussled and he looked good she had to admit in either mode of dress. Apparently she wasn’t the only one who thought so because a bleach blond wearing a barely there dress was leaning toward him giving him an ample view of her breasts as they talked.

The blond leaned forward touching his arm letting her hand linger, and a smile passed across Lindsey’s mouth. It was one of those smiles that you gave everyone practiced, and not at all sincere. His gaze slid toward the door and then over the crowd. Synn felt a little uneasy as his gaze settled on hers, he leaned forward to the blond saying something as he leaned down picking a bag from the floor by his feet. As he passed by the blond she turned watching him go her gaze roaming over him appreciatively.

Synn’s gaze moved form the woman to the man advancing on her at the moment. Even as he moved toward her she noticed a difference in how he carried himself as he moved, and she wondered just how many faces Lindsey possessed. There were people who had many sides to their personality and she was certain that in his quest for power, and money Lindsey had developed quite a few to keep himself from getting hurt.

“Do you have my fee?” Synn asked as he slowed before her.

“Let’s grab a booth.” Lindsey smiled, not waiting for her response he was the one with the money so he led the way sliding into the free booth that would afford them a little privacy.

Synn glared at his back as they made their way to the table, and her gaze unwilling slid to his rear, which in those jeans looked quite amazing. Snapping her gaze up she defiantly needed to get a life.

Lindsey slid into the booth watch as Synn stiffly slid into the booth opposite him. “Would you like a drink, or perhaps something to eat?” Lindsey asked.

“I’m a minor or did you forget that little fact, being a lawyer one would assume you would know the dangers involved in providing a minor with alcohol.” Synn glared at Lindsey her response clipped.

“Trust me I am very aware of your age, and they do serve drinks that are non-alcoholic, and as for something to eat I know you just returned from a long day I thought you might be hungry.” Lindsey replied, actually enjoying himself he was actually intrigued by the girl before him in more ways than just business.

“I don’t socialize with clients.” Synn replied, despite the fact that she was starving.

“For such a young woman you have a lot of rules for yourself.” Lindsey met her gaze and saw those beautiful amethyst eyes begin to burn with anger and he couldn’t help but smile in response. He was sure that at all times Synn Colton was quite controlled she would have to be. In the time since their first meeting he had done a little more research and he was amazed at the jobs she had taken on.

“My money,” Synn raised a brow meeting Lindsey blue eyes really getting pissed because within their depths she could see he was laughing at her.

Lindsey slid the bag to her under the table. “I will see you soon anyway well if you take the job we have on the table. Adrian signed an exclusive contract with Wolfram & Hart just this morning.” Lindsey smirked as she jerked the bag from his grasp.

“What if I hadn’t finished the job?” Synn asked pulling the bag up besides her in the booth.

“One thing you can always count on with Wolfram & Hart we always have a contingency plan.” Lindsey met her gaze directly. “I knew the exact moment Varrik hit the floor.”

“You had a tracker on me.” Synn glared at the man across from her, at no time in the past week had she felt someone trailing her.

“Not you, we tried but they couldn’t keep up.” Lindsey chuckled. “We had one on Varrik.”

“I told you before that any deal you made with Adrian didn’t include me, I am an independent contractor with him, and not one of the operatives he owns body and soul.”

“Independent,” Lindsey sighed, “He is your guardian for at least a year right perhaps less the information on your birth date is vague how old are you?” Lindsey asked his gaze flickering over features.

“17.” Synn replied a frown crossing her features as he realized that he hadn’t meant to give him any information.

Lindsey noted the slip but kept going. “I know that every job you’ve ever taken has been brokered by Adrian.” Lindsey met her gaze. “This contract means that everything Adrian has ever wanted is within his grasp so long as the jobs sent his way are completed successfully.”
“Is that a threat?” Synn asked calmly sliding the bag over shoulder.

“It’s a fact you can take it how you like.” Lindsey responded and watched the lethal creature before slide out of her seat standing besides the table. She shifted the bag over her shoulder and leaned down besides him moving like a predator no fear, and with a liquid grace.

Synn braced one hand on the back of the booth and leaned down. “You might be quite the player in the court room, but you have no idea who you are dealing with.” Synn purred softly her voice dropping down to a soft deadly whisper. “You wouldn’t even see it coming councilor.”

Lindsey felt the first prickling of fear at her words, but the mere fact that she was so close to him was having a very arousing effect, and the combination was heady.

Lindsey couldn’t stop himself from turning his head toward her very aware that their lips were very close. His gaze met hers, “I think I know exactly who I am dealing with.”

Synn held his gaze for a moment, then without another word left Lindsey sitting in the booth and headed out of the bar and back towards the stairs, at the moment unaware of the eyes that followed her progress.

Angel pulled up to the hotel, and was surprised that it was one of the more expensive hotels in the area. Instead of using the valet parking they parked themselves, it really wasn’t convenient to wait for valet to bring the car around in an emergency.

“This is the place.” Angel heard Cordelia telling Wesley. “With the Spa that everyone says is divine. Are you sure this is the place because this place is way to expensive for just anyone.” Cordelia ignored the glare Angel sent her way. “What I wouldn’t give for a day at the spa.” Hint, Hint she thought rolling her eyes at the oblivious men she was in the company of at the moment.

“I am sure that this is the place, unless there was some variable that we didn’t.”
Angel cut Wesley off as he caught her scent. “This is the place, she’s here.” Now he could tell the difference everyone had their own scent Buffy’s was entwined with vanilla from the bath products she used, and this girl smelled like honey, and milk. The scents on their own held little appeal but when mixed with her natural scent it was quite appealing.

“This way,” Angel followed the strongest trail into a bar it took only a second for him to spot her, and his entire body stiffened as he saw exactly who she was sitting with Lindsey McDonald, and they looked quite cozy.

“Where is she?” Cordelia glanced around not sure what the girl looked like, Angel had been vague dark hair was a good percentage of the women in the room including her.

“Right there with Lindsey.” Angel ground out deciding to move to a spot where they could watch the couple better.

“Lindsey, Wolfram & Hart Lindsey?” Cordelia gasped glancing around and finally spotting the jerk and she was at a loss for words when she saw the girl sitting across from her.

“You never said she was.” Wesley began but stopped not sure if he should say such a thing about a slayer yet alone a girl.

“Gorgeous.” Cordelia filled in the blank and snorted rolling her eyes at the idiots. “Dark hair, that’s all you could say about her.”

Cordelia watched their exchange and could tell it defiantly wasn’t a romantic interlude but there were sparks between the two.

“What do you think she is doing with him?” Cordelia asked trying to get a better view of them, and saw the girl get up and Cordelia wished she could move like that as the girl leaned over toward Lindsey.

Angel watched the Slayer lean over toward Lindsey she moved like a Slayer with purpose. He almost moved forward as Lindsey turned toward her their lips almost brushing. Then she moved past leaving Lindsey sitting alone.

“Aren’t we going to follow her?” Cordelia asked, as she glanced over at Angel who was staring daggers at Lindsey.

Angel didn’t reply they moved through the hotel following in her wake using her scent to lead him he was able to hang back and stay out of her range.

Synn became aware of something just beyond the fringes of her awareness. Moving up the stairs she stilled for a moment and heard them following her two males and a female. They weren’t being quite about it and after knowing Lindsey had stuck a tracer on her she was going to take any chances. A smile touched her lips as she turned up the next flight of stairs, and instead of progressing up them she headed out onto the floor just beneath her own. Setting her bag down she leaned back against the wall if they were any good they would be able to follow her and she would be waiting for them when they came through the door.
