First Encounter

Chapter Four – First Encounter

Angelus’s lips curved into a small smirk, everyone knew the small rivalry the two males had between them. If it wasn’t one thing it was another always trying to beat the other out or show one another up.

“Why Linds, what makes you think I want something?”

The look that Lindsey tossed his way could only be construed as stop wasting my damn time. Angelus already knew that he’d have to be careful as to how he handled the situation. It was no secret the two of them normally never got along. There was a good chance if he didn’t play this just right Lindsey would never tell him who the beauty was that graced the stage.

“Cut the crap Angelus”

“I was just curious as to whom the lead dancer was. I haven’t seen her around and well… the looks you two kept sharing didn’t go unnoticed by anyone” he tossed out as casually as he could

The young lawyer sighed, he should’ve known better. He was still a member of the male population, he wasn’t blind and it was clear that Elizabeth was already a very beautiful girl and she was growing to be an absolutely stunning woman. It was then he decided to make it inexplicable clear that Angelus wasn’t to go anywhere near her.

“Stay away from her Angelus…” he said as he gritted his teeth

“Ah why don’t we see if she wants me to stay away from her Lindsey” a sneer playing on his lips

“I mean it Angelus, stay away from Elizabeth” with fire in his eyes

The name that tumbled from Lindsey’s lips caused Angelus to stop short. Elizabeth was a well known name associated with Lindsey.
Though really no one had ever met the supposed beauty, it was rumored that she was absolutely gorgeous especially for her age but only a select few actually knew the girl.

“Elizabeth… you don’t mean to tell me that girl up there was the one you kept safely hidden away for the past few years?”

“Angelus… just forget about it…”

Before Lindsey could fully finish his threat Doyle jumped up onto the stage welcoming everyone to the club and complimenting the girls on a great job they did with the number. In the background R. Kelly’s song Snake could be heard while the girls wandered through the club mingling with the other guest. Elizabeth however was backstage in one of the few dressing rooms getting out of the midnight blue dress she wore for the number.

She hung up the dress on one of them many racks and pulled on a pair of studded low rider jeans while adorning a similar color shirt that was cut low showing a bit of her cleavage and a lot of her toned tummy. She decided to leave the make-up she had already applied deciding it didn’t look too bad with the outfit. Finally pulling on a pair of leather boots she tousled her hair quickly while doing one last mirror check and sauntered back out into the club.

It felt good to be back up on stage; Elizabeth had forgotten the total rush that came with performing for a crowd. Granted she never performed for a crowd that large before the effect was still the same. She was sorely tempted to seek out Doyle and ask him if he still wanted her to play that evening but then out of the corner of her eye she spied Lindsey over at one of the tables and though there was a man seated across from him she didn’t think he’d mind her interrupting. He didn’t look to happy with the company from the expression that marred his face.

“Hey Linds” she greeted him while sliding into his lap noticing that there weren’t any other available seats in the immediate area.

“Hey ‘Lizabeth” Lindsey both visibly and mentally relaxed with Elizabeth in his arms.

Angelus looked at the two with slightly jealous eyes. Though as soon as his dark eyes fell on Elizabeth lust instantly took precedence over jealousy. She was absolutely gorgeous. She was a tiny thing but with her womanly curves and pixie-like features Elizabeth Summers captured his attention like no other.

“Well aren’t you going to introduce me to your lovely friend Lindsey” eyeing the beauty perched on Lindsey’s lap

“Actually no”

“Lindsey!” Elizabeth gave his shoulder a light smack before reaching across the table and introducing herself

“Hi I’m Elizabeth; Elizabeth Summers”

“Elizabeth” Angelus murmured as he pressed a soft kiss to her hand

Elizabeth just blushed prettily and extracted her hand from Angelus’s hold. All the while Lindsey was gritting his teeth trying to keep his anger in check. He knew all to well what Angelus was trying to do and he’d kill the man across from him first before even let him get his hands on the girl in his embrace.

“And you are?” Elizabeth eyed the dark man before appreciatively. Of course she could already tell Lindsey hated the guy but she could look… right?

“Forgive me; my name is Liam Angelus O’Roake. However most just call me Angelus”

“It’s nice to meet you Angelus”

“The pleasure is mine”

“Oh please” Lindsey sighed

Elizabeth couldn’t help the small smile that crossed her lips she knew that her paying attention to Angelus was probably upsetting Lindsey more than it should so she decided to let him know that he still came first and foremost in her book.

“Aww Linds” she said as she brushed a lock of hair away from his eyes

The affection action made Angelus’s jaw clench and Lindsey just smiled in satisfaction. Oh yeah, tonight was definitely was going to be interesting thought Elizabeth. Very interesting indeed…

It was already passed midnight and everyone was enjoying themselves immensely. Doyle finally took the stage to introduce Addictive for their first song to be played that evening. Though it was already late in the party they were just able to round up all the band members a little while ago.

“Hey I hope we’re all having a good time tonight” Doyle called out into the crowd

The crowd whooped and hollered. It was fairly obvious that there wasn’t a person there who wasn’t enjoying themselves.

“All right well then, it’s my pleasure to introduce Addictive while they play for you their new number one single… The Girl All the Bad Guys Want!”

Doyle exited the stage and the lights came up with all the members of Addictive present on stage. Oz was on stage right playing bass guitar, Xander was in the rear on drums and Spike was up front on lead guitar. The females of the club seemed to flock to the stage all hoping to catch the eye of lead singer.

Spike was truly a delicious sight, clad in black jeans that clung to his hips and a black silk shirt accenting his already alabaster skin. His platinum curls were slicked back and his strong cheek bones were even more attractive by the lighting of the club. But what caught most everyone’s eye were his piercing blue eyes. Elizabeth wasn’t immune to any of his physical charms either. She sat transfixed at the vision that graced the stage. What broke through her haze was Spike’s voice flowing throughout the club.

‘8 o'clock, Monday night and I'm waitin'
To finally talk to a girl a little cooler than me.
Her name is Nona, she's a rocker with a nose ring,
She wears a two way, but I'm not quite sure what that means.

And when she walks,
All the wind blows and the angels sing.
She doesn't notice me!’

Elizabeth’s distraction to the conversation going on near her didn’t go unnoticed by her two companions. Both Lindsey and Angelus rolled their eyes at the dream like expression that graced Elizabeth’s face as she gazed at the stage, what they didn’t know was that Elizabeth couldn’t tear her eyes away for an entirely different reason then they believed.

Elizabeth was amazed at the stage presence he had. He practically had the whole room’s attention she’d never really seen anyone do that before. She knew that she had to meet this guy, besides the fact that he was a honey. Leaning over she told Lindsey that she was going to go try and get a closer look and before he could protest she easily extracted herself from his embrace and made her way toward the stage.

‘Cause she is watchin' wrestling
Creamin' over tough guys
Listenin' to rap metal
Turntables in her eyes

It's like a bad movie
She is lookin' through me
If you were me, then you'd be
Screamin' "Someone shoot me!"
As I fail miserably,
Tryin' to get the girl all the bad guys want.
She's the girl all the bad guys want!’

As she neared the stage it became even harder to get through. They were enough screaming girls there to make anyone deaf. And Elizabeth had to admit she’d never smelt so much cheap perfume in one vicinity before. Though as her eyes traveled back to the stage they instantly locked with the lead singer as he went into the next verse.

‘She likes the godsmack and I like agent orange
Her cd changer's full of singers that are mad at their dad
She says she'd like to score some reefer and a forty
She'll never know that I'm the best that she'll never have

And when she walks,
All the wind blows and the angels sing.
She'll never notice me!’

Spike spotted her as she tried to push her way toward the stage and he just couldn’t seem to take his eyes off her. He knew that she had come with Lindsey and was a good friend of that bloke Doyle. It was also made very clear that she was off limits. Though that didn’t mean he couldn’t look and certainly if she was to come and talk to him they couldn’t begrudge him for it… right?

‘Cause she is watchin' wrestling
Creamin' over tough guys
Listenin' to rap metal
Turntables in her eyes

She likes 'em with a mustache
Racetrack season pass
Drivin' in a Trans-Am
Does a mullet make a man?

It's like a bad movie
She is lookin' through me
If you were me, then you'd be
Screamin' "Someone shoot me!"
As I fail miserably,
Tryin' to get the girl all the bad guys want.
She's the girl all the bad guys want!
She's the girl all the bad guys want!
She's the girl all the bad guys want!’

Back at the table both Lindsey and Angelus were seething at the connection the two blondes had made. Unknowingly the same thought went through both their minds…

Spike better keep his hands off… she’s mine!

‘There she goes again
With fishnets on, and dreadlocks in her hair
She broke my heart, I wanna be sedated
All I wanted was to see her naked!

Now I am watchin' wrestling
Tryin' to be a tough guy
Listenin' to rap metal
Turntables in my eyes
I can't grow a mustache
And I ain't got no season pass
All I got's a moped...moped....moped.....

It's like a bad movie
She is lookin' through me
If you were me, then you'd be
Screamin' "Someone shoot me!"
As I fail miserably,
Tryin' to get the girl all the bad guys want.’

Suddenly Doyle came up behind Elizabeth and whispered something in her ear. Within a few moments she was trailing Doyle as he led her back stage.

‘She's the girl all the bad guys want!
She's the girl all the bad guys want!
She's the girl all the bad guys want!
She's the girl all the bad guys want!

(There she goes again)

She's the girl all the bad guys want!
She's the girl all the bad guys want!

(There she goes again)

She's the girl all the bad guys want!
She's the girl all the bad guys want!’

The song ended and Spike couldn’t help but wonder where the blonde beauty went off to. The band took their bow and headed off stage as another one of their unreleased songs began to play over the club’s sound system.

Backstage Xander and Oz were greeted by a few select female admirers. Xander welcomed them with open arms but Oz shrugged them off and went in search of his girlfriend. Spike turned and was surprised to see Doyle and the blonde bombshell from earlier hovering off to the side. Instantly his curiosity got the better of him and he waved away the few girls fawning over him and made his way over to the duo.

“Hello Doyle… and who do we have here?”

“This here is Elizabeth Summers”

“Summers? I like it… saw you out there, you like the music?”

“Oh yea, you guys were awesome, way better than I ever could be” not even realizing she let her secret slip

“You play?” quirking a scarred brow

Elizabeth instantly realized the slip and tried to cover it up somehow fearing he’d ask her to play something. Which she knew she wouldn’t be able to do.

“Well um you see… I don’t exactly play… um no I mean I do play but…”

Spike just chuckled at her nervous babbling; it was refreshing to be around someone who was still so young both in mind and heart and not so jaded by life. It was also a pleasure to be around a girl that still actually blushed. It had been too long since he’d encountered a good girl.

“Easy kitten, I’m not going to force you to play. Though if you want to I wouldn’t mind hearing a little something…”
Elizabeth bit her lip in contemplation and finally slowly began to nod her head.

“You have an acoustic guitar around anywhere?”

“Yeah, follow me” he said with a grin

Back in one of the green rooms Spike was actually enjoying listening to Elizabeth play for him. The girl had real talent and was surprised Wesley hadn’t found her yet and signed her. It was then he decided that she just had to play for Wesley tonight. He’d sign her in a second.

“Hey love, why don’t you play for the folks out there?”

Elizabeth looked up from the guitar that she was now lazily strumming on and shot Spike a look that could be compared to a deer caught in headlights.

“You can’t be serious… can you?” she asked

“I’m dead serious, you’re amazing”

“I can’t”

“What it is that’s holding you back. I saw you out there earlier. You danced like you owned that place. And I know you’d play the same way. Let alone the fact you have a beautiful voice to go along with that talent of playing a guitar”

Spike could see he was starting to break through at least some of her walls. He figured if there was any chance of ever getting her back on stage the time was now.

“I saw you earlier, the look in your eyes. Being on stage makes you feel so alive. I should know. I feel the same way every time I get up on stage.”

“I don’t know Spike; I mean I’ve never really played for anyone before. Just for myself and Lindsey”

“How about this, I’ll be there with you. I’ll play and you sing. There see now that takes at least half the pressure off… “ he said giving her his wounded puppy impression

“Alright… BUT you have to PROMISE to stay with me the ENTIRE time” wagging a finger in his face

“Scouts Honor”

“Were you ever a scout?” she asked doubtfully

“Alright… rock stars honor, how about that?’

“Oh what did I get myself into?” she asked as they both went off in search of Doyle to inform of the new entertainment for the evening
