Chapter 4

Faith stepped out of the apartment and turned, giving Cordelia a hug. “Thanks.” she sighed, smiling lightly.
Cordelia nodded, returning the smile. “Any time. You know that.”
Faith nodded and walked away, down the stairs and outside. She smiled to herself as she made her way back home, going over her conversation with Cordelia.

*“Wes told me what happened… are you… alright?”
Faith shrugged. “Jury’s still out.”
They sat and talked for an hour, Cordelia doing most of the
listening for a change.
“Faith, just because you don’t feel the same w-“
She shook her head. “That’s not it. I do feel the same way.
I’ve been in love with him for so long… I just- I never thought anyone, let alone Wes would ever love me.”*

A chill shot through her as she got closer to the apartment.
She quickened her pace and reached the front doors, taking the stairs two at a time up to their apartment. She quietly stepped inside, not sure if he’d be asleep or up doing more research. She walked to his room, leaning in the doorway.
“Wes? She whispered softly.
******************************************************
It had been quarter to eleven when Wes had decided to try falling asleep. As he lay in bed, he thought of Faith. He hoped nothing bad would come upon them, not matter how things worked out. He hoped nothing bad had happened to Faith. She’d been gone for and hour and a half already.
Around twenty minutes later, he thought he heard her come inside and walk to his room.
“Wes?” she asked softly.
He turned to stare at her silohette. “Faith…” he breathed, relieved she was safe. He sat up and reached for his lamp.
She took a step into his room. “Don’t… I -I just need to say this, quickly… before I lose my nerve.”
He slowly let his hand fall back down to his side, and he watched her come closer. His eyes adjusted completely to the dark and he found that he could see her pretty well.
She took a seat on the edge of the bed, turning to face him and sighed. “Wes… I didn’t mean to react like that… or run out like that.”
“Faith… you-“
She stopped him, placing a finger to his lips. She leaned forward and lightly pressed her lips to his. They kissed softly at first, but it soon grew with need. When she pulled away she licked her lips and sighed shakily.
“I meant to do that.”
She moved, swinging a leg over him and pulling herself over so she was straddling him. She placed a hand on his cheek.
“I’m in love with you, Wes… and I want you to make love to me.”
