Spoilers: Uh, not really. Just a quote from season three’s ‘Amends’. I don’t know if you’d consider that a spoiler but just to be on the safe side, there it is.

Feedback: Uh, DUH! If you haven’t gotten the point by now, then give it up, you’re not gonna figure it out. In other words: Yes, please.

Chapter 4: Darkness and Light

~~~
When Angel woke four hours later Fiona was awake and watching him.
She was still naked and on her side next to him, head resting on her open palm, cigarette hanging haphazardly from her lips, one leg still intertwined with his.
She raised her empty hand and plucked the cigarette from her mouth and in a move that would make a contortionist jealous she twisted around to flick the ash into a glass on the far end of the bedside table behind her. Then she turned back around, replaced the cigarette, and resumed her former position. She smiled at him briefly but didn’t say a word.
She watched as his eyes opened and focused on her sleepily. This was the first time she had woken up with him still beside her and she intended to memorize every detail, but her mind drifted back to the pleasant memories of the night before. She loved when Angelus came out to play, even though when that happened he was usually in control of their situation and dominated it was strangely enough also when he was most vulnerable. That was when he dropped all the masks and let himself just be. It was the only time that the monster and the man coexisted somewhat peacefully. She smiled smugly to himself at that tho.
.
Buffy could never give him that. She could never help him balance the darkness and the light like I do. Even if it is for only a few moments at a time, She thought.
He watched as an arrogant smile tugged at her lips. He reached forward and pushed a strand of light brown hair behind her ear. Then her smile softened a bit and she pulled the cigarette from her lips and kissed him gently.
“What are you thinking about?” He asked.
“You. You’re still here.” Fiona told him.
His eyebrows furrowed for a moment as he looked into her deep green-gray eyes then he caught her meaning.
“Oh, I’m sorry. It should have happened before now.” He said.
“It’s okay, Angel. Things have been a little more than difficult these past two years. I understand.” Fiona told him twisting around again and stubbing out her cigarette.
Her bare leg that was still trapped loosely between his slithered upward until her shin rubbed along his semi-erect manhood. He could get hard just by looking at her body, he’d like nothing more than to sit in front of her and sketch her for hours. She was young, just barely nineteen, but she had the most magnificent form. High firm breasts, strong arms and hands tipped by long slim fingers, a flat well-muscled stomach marred gorgeously by the bellybutton ring and the faintest traces of his bites, perfectly rounded hips, and powerful long legs. Her skin was pale but it looked natural unlike his own unearthly whiteness. His exploration of her was stopped as she pulled away from him and got up.
“Tease.” He growled lightly.
She giggled but moved across the room and into the bathroom. When she came out she stretched languidly and walked to the closet.
“Come back to bed.” He glanced at the clock on the wall, almost 2 am. “It’s too late to go out now.”
Her hand stilled on the knob and she glanced back at him, he rounded his eyes just a fraction and stuck out his lower lip.
“That’s pathetic.” She said but even as she did so her hand fell away from the door and she made her way back over to him.
“I know, but it worked.” He said and reached for her hand pulling her down to lie next to him again. She just raised an eyebrow then turned away scooting towards him until he was spooned against her back. He draped an arm over her stomach and kissed her shoulder then his eyes fell onto the almost healed bite wounds on the back of her neck. His arm tensed slightly and she sighed.
“Don’t.” She said, her voice firm.
“What?” He asked relaxing against her.
“I know exactly what you were just thinking, don’t. I asked you to, practically begged you.”
“You didn’t say a word.” He murmured.
“I didn’t need to and you know it. I wanted it, Angel and I’m not sorry for that. You shouldn’t be either. I know what you are, I’ve got a piece of it inside me, remember?”
“You don’t have any of my demon.” He said.
“No, but I have a part of the man. I know what goes on inside that head of yoand and I enjoy it. Profusely. Now shut up and go to sleep or I’ll kick you out of my bed and you can go to your own room.” She said but contradicted her threat by snuggling more firmly back against him and placed one of her hands over his on her stomach.
He sat there staring at her back for several long moments until her voice interrupted his thoughts.
“Sleep.” She commanded and he obeyed, but one phrase slipped threw his mind as he drifted off. Something he’d said to Buffy on that snowy Christmas that seemed so far away now.
"It’s not the demon in me that needs killin’ Buffy, it’s the man."
