Wedding Bells
Sarah spent the next few days helping the AI crew get their computer system in order. All too soon her work in LA was done and it was time to go home. Everything was packed and all that was left was to say goodbye.
“Oh, Angel. I almost forgot.” Sarah said digging in her purse and fishing out an envelope. “This, believe it or not, may just have the power to kill you. Again.”
“What is it?”
“An invitation to Xander’s wedding next week. He asked me to give it to you. Oh, did I mention he also gave me a separate one for Cordy and the rest of the gang. He wanted you to have that one all to yourself. Not to mention the fact that it’s at night to accommodate you and Spike and it’s in a courthouse, not a church.”
“You’re right.” Angel said clutching the paper over his heart. “I think I may die of shock right now.”
Sarah giggled then raised an eyebrow. “Hmmm, maybe that was his intention.”
“Probably.” Angel said dryly.
“But you’re going to come right?”
“Why not?” Angel said with a shrug.
“Great.” Sarah said smiling brightly at the vampire.
“It’s not gonna be the same without you here.” The vampire said hugging her.
“You’ll get used to it.” She said.
“Maybe, maybe not.”
“Well, I’m just a two hour drive if you decide you can’t live without me.”
“I know. And you better believe I’ll be seeing you.” He said. Their eyes met and acting on impulse the vampire dipped his head and claimed a quick kiss from the stunned girl. When he pulled back he gave her a smirk that had the girl’s toes curling. He held up the envelope and tapped it with his free hand. “Next week.”
Still in shock from the short but completely intense kiss he’d planted on her Sarah backed toward the door and nodded. “Next week.” With that she turned and walked out into the bright cheery sun smiling nearly the whole way back to Sunnydale.
~~~~~~~~
The week without her new friends passed quickly and soon they were all gathered in the Sunnydale Courthouse for Xander and Anya’s wedding.
Sarah’s eyes nearly tumbled from her head when Angel showed up dressed to the nine’s in an expensive looking suit and looking gorgeous. When he saw her he immediately pulled her into a hug.
“Miss me?” He whispered in her ear sending shivers down her spine.
Instead of answering she tugged his down by his collar and claimed his lips in a kiss. Then she took his hand and led him to his seat leaving a stunned group of friends behind.
The ceremony was small and simple but beautiful. Everyone had come for the occasion. Sarah and Serena, Giles and Olivia, Joyce, Dawn, Buffy, and Spike, Willow and Tara, the whole Roswell gang had made the trip for the occasion, including Darcy and John. Angel, Connor, Cordelia and Groo, Gunn, Fred, Wesley, and even Lorne.
After the ceremony was finished they moved to a rented recreation hall and partied.
“Say something to Anya and Xan.” Dawn told Sarah from behind a video camera.
“Okay. Congratulations guys. Watching you two take vows, seeing the love you have for each other, that was it. I knew just by watching you that some couples are fated. Some people are just meant to be.” Sarah said.
Dawn grinned. “Thanks Sarah.”
“No prob, Dawnie. Or should I call you Spielberg?”
“Works for me.” Dawn said bouncing off to tape her next victim and Sarah made her way over to Spike and Buffy who had Angel cornered and looked to be grilling him relentlessly.
“So, are you two next?” Sarah asked pointing to the bouquet Buffy had caught and hopefully getting there interrogation off of Angel. The Slayer laughed and Spike sputtered out a ‘Bloody Hell’.
“Think they’ll last?” Spike asked his eyes turning to the newlyweds.
“I don’t see why not. They love each other and have made it this far.” Sarah said with a shrug, the others nodded their agreement.
“How long are the Roswell kids in town for?” Buffy asked.
“Until Saturday. I’m going to give my final performance at the Bronze on Friday since the band is here.”
“Final?” Spike asked.
“Yeah. When I started the Believers my whole intention was to get signed, I love performing and that’s always been enough to keep me going but now getting a contract is out of the question. I want to free the band up; maybe they can find a new singer and get somewhere. I’ll write for them though and I’m writing a few songs for the Dingoes first album too, I still want my music heard.”
“And Devon asked her to sing backup on our album and do a duet with him.” Angel said taking her hand which earned him a glare from Spike and a curious smile from Buffy.
“Sarah, that’s great!” Buffy told her.
“It’s the perfect arrangement, I get to be on a CD but I don’t have to tour.”
“That is so awesome. Yay, my friends are gonna be famous.” Buffy said with a smile.
“Don’t jinx us, Buff. Let’s just wait until the CD comes out and we get some reviews first.” Sarah said.
Buffy nodded. “Well I think I’ve had my fill of matrimony for the day. What about you honey, ready to leave?”
“Bloody well about time. Yes I’m ready, I’ve been ready for three hours.” Spike grumbled.
“I’ll just have to make it up to you when we get home.” Buffy said with a devious smile.
“Ok, let’s go. Bye now.” Spike said grabbing Buffy’s hand and pulling the slayer towards the door. She waved over her shoulder to Angel and Sarah.
“Don’t forget, Bronze, Friday, 8 o’clock.” Sarah called. Buffy nodded then disappeared.
“As much as it disturbs me that Buffy is in a relationship with Spike they are like two of a kind.” Angel murmured shaking his head.
“Very true.” Sarah said with a fond smile as she thought about her friends.
Angel curled his hand under her chin and lifted her face to look in her eyes. “When you were in LA you told me to let you know when I figured out what I wanted.”
“I did.” Sarah whispered.
“I’ve been doing some thinking, well brooding, depending on who you ask.” He said provoking a smile form the singer. “And what I want is to start fresh. Things with Cordeila are just too complicated. I care about her and I always will. She’s my best friend, but she’s not what I want. I realize that you being in Sunnydale and me being in LA might make it difficult but what I want is to give things a try with me and you.”
“Really?” Sarah asked her face breaking out into a grin. How the hell had she gotten so lucky to have drawn the attention of a man like Angel?
He nodded. “Really.”
“I’d like that.” Sarah told him.
They spent the rest of the night dancing and talking getting to know each for WHO they were instead of WHAT they were and Sarah thought that maybe Lorne had been right when he’d told he she find just what she’d been looking for in LA.
“Oh, Angel. I almost forgot.” Sarah said digging in her purse and fishing out an envelope. “This, believe it or not, may just have the power to kill you. Again.”
