Chapter 4

[ -- Chapter 4 -- ]

"No, call is bad. Don’t call now, I'm not ready." He raises his eyebrows and I add, "And for fucks sake can I have a cup of coffee?"

Angel poured a cup of coffee and handed it to me, "Faith you need to go there soon, she needs your help."

"Does she even know I'm coming?" I take a sip.

"I don’t know, but it was Giles' decision. He's the one who contacted me and asked me to get you out." He picked up the newspaper.

"She doesn’t know?!" I yell, then hold my head as my headache came back.

"I didn’t say that. Maybe she does, I don’t know. But I'll call and find out," he said as he looked at the newspaper.

"Stop looking at the damn paper and pay attention!" I was deciding to ignore my headache.

He looked up, putting the paper aside, "I am paying attention. Look, I'll call now." he got up and got the phone.

"No don’t!" I stood up, then say back down, "Nevermind, just do it."

Angel dialed Buffy's number and listened to it right.

["Hello?"]

"Hi Buffy," Angel started and looked at me.

[Buffy furrowed her brow, "Angel? Hi."]

"Has Giles talked to you?" he asked.

["Giles? No, why?" she say down on her bed.]

Angel took a deep breath, "Okay, don’t get angry. But Giles asked for Faith to come and help you out."

["WHAT?!"]

I winced, I could hear that from where I was sitting.

["I thought she was in jail! What the hell is going on?!" Buffy was freaking out.]

"Giles called in a favor and we got her out. She's been badly beaten though and I don’t know when we can send her down thee."

["How about never? Angel, Faith and I are a big flashing neon sigh on 'No'!"]

"Buffy, you gotta give her a chance. She's different now…" he tried.

["Angel, no. No, no, no, no, no. Its just… no. I cant, I cant handle seeing her."]

"Why" Angel inquired.

["She tried to kill me, she tried to kill -you- remember?"]

"I'll say it again, Faith is different. You'd be surprised. Look Buffy, you need help and you know it, just give her a chance," Angel said hopefully.

[There was silence for awhile, then Buffy spoke. "Alright, fine. But its on a trial basis, if its not working then I'll send her right back to you. I can beat Glory with or without her."]

"Alright, I'll send her down tomorrow."

"Tomorrow?!" I yell, almost spitting out my coffee.

["Well she seems excited," Buffy said sarcastically.]

"Trust me. She is. She says some things but she's got a thing for you."

"I -what?!-"

["She -what?!"]

"Angel shut the hell up you don’t know what you're talking about!" I yell and stomp out of the room.

"Faith I didn’t mean it like -that-…" he tried.

"But you were right," Cordelia mumbled.

["Angel what are you talking about?" Buffy asked nervously.]

"Buffy I didn’t mean it like -that-. I mean you guys have a connection, the slayer thing." Angel was trying to patch up the hole he had made.

["Look, whatever it doesn’t matter. I'll deal with that when I come to it. Just send her down tomorrow. I gotta go," she hung up the phone without even saying goodbye.]

Angel hung up the phone and I came out from around the corner. I wanted to run away, but I still couldn’t.

"We're going to send you down tomorrow," Angel said.

"Whatever," I mumble.

Cordelia got up, "faith can I talk to you for a minute?"

"Yeah, whatever," I sit down on the chair and put my head in my hands.

"Angel?" Cordelia motioned for him to leave.

"Oh, right." Angel left.

Cordelia sat opposite of me, "Tell me about Buffy."

"What do you mean?" I look up at her.

"Look, I have this thing where I can see into the future sometimes. It sucks and gives me huge headaches but it happens to me. And I saw, well I saw the both of you. That’s all I'm going to say though. But I know how you feel about her," she looked at me intently.

"What is it about you that you end up knowing everything about me? Its annoying." I grumble.

"Even before my vision I knew. It was kind of obvious. Or at least it was to me."

"Great, now I'm transparent," I groan.

"You're not transparent, I just could tell. Don’t worry about it though, her friends are pretty slow and I don’t think they noticed," she said, remembering the old days.

"Doesn’t matter, she'll never feel the same way. I'm over it." I shrug, once again trying to play it off as nothing. I seem to be doing a lot of that lately.

"No you're not, and if you haven't noticed, which I guess you haven't, she -does- have feeling for you. Or at least she did, I don’t know anymore because I haven't seen her."

"Well 'did' doesn’t help me now, now does it?" I say.

"Don’t give up, Faith."

"Whatever, I'm gonna go back to bed, give my ribs a chance to heal," I say and get up.

"Alright, good night," Cordelia said, giving me a slight smile.

"Night," I say as I leave the kitchen, heading to the couch again.
