Chapter Four
Buffy watched the Initiative doctors work on Spike. She was so tense she thought she would explode. Finally, one of the doctors held up the evil chip. He dropped it into a bowl while the other doctor stitched Spike’s head.
“Will he be alright?” She practically squeaked the words.
“He should be fine now, well, as fine as a vampire can be. The anesthesia should wear off soon.”
The doctors finished up and left the room. Buffy went to the table and threw her arms around Spike. He looked dead. And since he was the undead, she couldn’t feel his heart beating. It only made her even more upset. Riley watched her from the doorway, thoroughly disgusted. He turned and told his men to pack it in. Riley and his men left without another word to her. And Buffy was barely even aware that they were gone. All she cared about was Spike. After what seemed like a small eternity to her, Spike started to stir.
“Spike! Can you hear me?”
“Buffy?” Spike was groggy and his head hurt. He started to focus on her tearstained face. “What happened?”
“They took the chip out. It’s gone. You aren’t going to die.” She smiled through her tears.
He weakly reached up a hand tnd touched her face. “I’ll be okay, then?”
“Yes.” She pressed her lips to his. She broke the kiss. “I love you.”
Spike thought he must be dreaming the whole thing. But she said it again. “Spike, I love you.” And she kissed him again and again, moving her lips all over his face. “Buffy, I love you, too, pet, but if you don’t stop...” Spike felt dizzy and he started to fall back on the gurney.
“I’m sorry,” she grinned. She was giddy with relief that he was going to be okay. “We’ll take it slow.” She threw her arms around him and hugged him tight.
Author’s Note: Complete for now. I just wanted to do a better version of the S/B scenes than what we were shown in The Killer in Me. At least a more shippy version.
