MIDNIGHT AND ROSES - CHAPTER 38
For more than two days and two nights, Spike had held Angel’s cold body tenderly in his arms. He had touched him and stroked him and kissed his lover’s cool, pale skin over and over again, memorizing every curve, every muscle, every scar.
Spike softly hummed ancient songs to his childe, songs that he had remembered from his past, and when he could remember no more, the blond vampire cooed words of love and affection to his beloved human.
By the third day, Spike was exhausted. He had sent his demon on its quest to find and bring back Angel’s vampire, but he had felt nothing but darkness and silence through their link. If Angel’s demon did not find him soon, all would be lost and Spike would dust from grief.
Sleep had eluded Spike these last days as he had attended Angel and fatigue was quietly working its way into the tired vampire. Long lashes fluttered over weary eyes as Spike fought valiantly to remain conscious, but the blond was helpless and soon succumbed to the fevered dreams waiting for him once his eyes fell closed.
~*~
Spike could see Angel through the darkness, looking lost and bewildered, his dark eyes searching expectantly for the demon that was destined to be his vampire. Spike reached out with his senses and commanded his own vampire to go to Angel, to comfort him and to guide him.
Angel was not afraid. There was no pain and he was thankful that Spike had been the gentlest of lovers when he had been taken, soothing him and reassuring him that they would meet again soon. He knew the turmoil that his blond vampire had suffered before he had agreed to make him his childer and it pained Angel tremendously. All he could hope for now was to be a good childe to his sire.
Some of the tension in Angel’s body seemed to disappear when he saw an ethereal demon!Spike making its way toward him. He was relieved to see the vampire’s familiar face and the worry lines furrowing his brow softened as he watched it approach.
Spike looked on approvingly as his demon opened its arms to Angel and he was overjoyed when his childe ran to the vampire and was instantly wrapped in a strong, loving embrace. He could see demon!Spike speaking to Angel in a language that was unfamiliar to him, but not lost on his boy. Angel nodded several times and looked expectantly over demon!Spike’s shoulder, searching the darkness while the vampire spoke to him.
Spike opened his familial link and reached out to the Ancient Ones, speaking the age-old words that he had memorized, words that would speak of Angel. He told them about the man, the warrior, the one that he wanted to spend his eternity with and he asked for their blessing.
The blond vampire waited for what seemed to be an agonizingly long time, but it was only a matter of seconds before he felt, rather than heard them, the first of the Aurelian line answer his call. A feeling of love and acceptance washed over Spike and it was then that he knew his gods had blessed his childer.
Spike gasped as Angel’s vampire, Anxo (AN-shaw*) was revealed to him by the Ancient Ones; the demon looked powerful as well as beautiful. Spike’s unbeating heart swelled with pride as he reached out to touch it with his mind for the first time as Sire and protector. The demon bowed its head and purred softly as it felt Spike’s touch, vowing allegiance and devotion to Angel and to his sire.
Angel was still wrapped protectively in demon!Spike’s arms when they both sensed Anxo’s presence. Demon!Spike immediately put himself between Angel and the demon who would meld with him, watching with interest as it strode confidently toward them. It stopped in front of the pair and without hesitation, the big vampire knelt on one knee before them and bowed its head in respect.
Demon!Spike acknowledged the beast and stepped aside, allowing it to rise and stand in front of Angel. It held out its hand to Angel and silently urged the human to accept it, to accept his destiny.
The promise of eternal unlife was waiting for him if only he would take the outstretched hand of the vampire, but Angel hesitated as he stared into its yellow eyes. Somewhere deep in those amber pools were the answers to his unasked questions and all was being revealed to him.
Suddenly, Angel was never so sure of anything in his entire life than he was now. It was his choice to become Spike’s childe and mate for all time and he would have no regrets; it was what he had always known was inevitable. He smiled in understanding and was unafraid as he reached out and took Anxo’s hand firmly in his.
The air shimmered and Angel could feel the tingle of electricity surrounding him and his vampire. Without warning, an explosion of white, hot light shot through him and into the demon, devouring and swallowing, incinerating and consuming the two of them, melding them together as one.

Spike awoke softly to a not unpleasant sensation on his cock. He took an unneeded breath and sighed at the feel of being stroked lovingly, tenderly. His eyes drifted open, slowly focusing on the young vampire curled around him with its head resting on his thigh, eyes closed in ecstacy, suckling on his half-hard cock like the newborn that it was.
"Angel!" Spike gasped out in stunned surprise. The fledgling ignored him and continued his ministrations.
"Angel? Childe?... look at me..." Spike felt overwhelmingly compelled to call to him as sire.
Angel’s dark eyes fluttered lightly before he opened them to look at Spike in confusion, whimpering as he released the prize in his mouth.
"S-Sire?" Angel whispered softly, bowing his head in respect.
"Yeah, luv... Sire. C’mere..." Spike smiled lovingly as he pulled Angel up to him and claimed his lips in a hard, hungry kiss.
"Welcome back, Beloved..."
Angel smiled at him shyly, making Spike’s dead heart soar with love for his new childe.
The big demon hunter had never been so overwhelmed to see Spike than he was now. From this moment on, Spike... his Will... would be his whole world. He would live and die for Will... his sire... if he would only say the words.
Spike was overcome with emotion to have Angel back with him and tears of joy threatened to make their way down his cheeks. But, he knew he had to be strong for Angel... for his childe... his childe... and he was ready to say the words. Lowering his fangs and biting down hard on his wrist, Spike waited for the blood to ooze up, then offered it to his hungry boy.
"Drink from me, Angel. Be my childe... be mine... forever."
Angel looked hesitantly between Spike’s wrist and his azure eyes. This was it. The beginning of his unlife as William’s childe... the beginning of his unlife as a vampire.
"Go on, then, luv," Spike gently urged. "Drink..."
Instinctively, the new vampire slid into game face and wrapped his hands around the proffered wrist. Angel clamped his lips around the wound, never taking his child-like gaze away from Spike’s loving, azure eyes. He drank, hungrily pulling the blood, sire's blood into his mouth, swallowing the life-giving elixir in big, gasping gulps.
"Good childe..." Spike cooed softly as he petted Angel's hair and watched him sate himself until his eyes flickered in exhaustion and his face returned to its beautiful characteristics.
"Time to rest now, yeah?" Spike kissed the top of Angel's head and shifted his weight to gently remove his arm so he could pull up a blanket to cover them as they drifted off.
Angel whimpered quietly for a few moments when Spike weaned him from his wrist but the sounds soon turned into gentle sighs as Spike's touches and his full belly soothed him to sleep.
