Consequences
Chapter 31
Consequences
Buffys POV
Life is pretty damn good, considering… sure Faith freaking out is a little worrying but hey so much better than an apocalypse.
Walking around the kitchen I gaze out of the window. Oz didn’t do bad with this place at all. I grab myself a glass of milk out of the fridge and sneak a few cookies in my pocket. I walk slowly up the stairs peaking down into the basement as I pass. Everyone is down there watching one of Andrews’s movies about slayers.
I head to my room taking care not to spill my milk. Well I need the nutrients from it after I do my meditation. I set down the glass on my bedside table.
Taking the cookies out of my pocket I cant resist dunking and eating just one before I start.
I position myself in the middle of the bed crossing my legs and straightening my back as I take a deep cleansing breath.
Breathing deeply in my nose and out of my mouth I start to whisper. “I am Buffy Anne Summers, I am in control of my life.”
“My body and mind are one.”
More deep breaths follow. I close my eyes and roll my head a few times, relaxing my whole body completely. “I am the slayer, I am powerful, I control my actions and thoughts.”
“My life is whole and I am not alone in it.”
I repeat some of the sentences a few times before taking a final deep breath. I smile as I open my eyes. Yeah I know it sounds like a whole bunch of crap but hey it works, who am I to judge?
Leaning over I grab my milk and remaining cookies. I did my daily meditation now I get my sugary treat.
I munch away at the cookies, finishing them a lot faster than I would have liked. I drain my glass of milk and have a short internal bit of dialogue with myself as to whether I should have any more cookies. And since I am currently reaching for the door handle you can probably guess that the cookie monster won that one.
I hear a loud crash from down the hall, before I it know my legs are moving. I’m already in Willows room. Willow is lying by the door and she isn’t moving. I see Faith by the bed with her knees to her chest. She has blood on her hands and in her hair.
She hurt her, she fucking hurt her! I am frozen to the spot, how could she do this? Willow… my mind is so blank I cant even…
“You fucking bitch! You said you would never hurt her!” I scream down at Faith whilst starting to kick at her, I don’t know how long I have been doing it for but I feel the sweat pouring down my face from the shock, horror and exertion. I am kicking fast and hard, using all my strength to kick her stomach and legs.
She is crying a lot, I don’t know why but I don’t care, she hurt my best friend and she is going to pay. She will not play anymore games with me or my friends. She falls onto her side, still with her knees pulled up to her chest. I can now reach her back, I drop to my knees from mental and physical exhaustion but I don’t stop beating her. I punch and slap her, I am not using any of training I am just hitting her as hard and fast as I can. Almost clawing at any piece of flesh I can reach.
I start to cry when I look over at Willow, I can see blood on her head but she still isn’t moving. “How could you? You said you’d protect her! You said you wouldn’t hurt her! You killed her! You whore! Bitch! Slut!” I punch her with every word to get my point across. “How could you! You’re worthless, you don’t deserve her, you don’t deserve anything!” My breathing is hard and fast. “I should have killed you a long time ago!” I scream as I grab her head in my hands, smashing it against the wall and floor.
I turn again when I hear a scream from the door. Xander, Dawn, Spike, Andrew and Jen are standing at the door. Xander drops down to Willow and is trying to wake her. I can hear him panicking as he asks what the fuck happened.
Andrew probably thinking that this isn’t the time shuts the viewfinder on his camera.
I am still hitting Faith, she still isn’t fighting back, which is making my anger worse…
“Faith… Hurt… Willow… Blood… On… Her… Hands!” I punch with every syllable. “She needs to die!” I scream again.
I fall back against the wall and start to sob, another of my friends and family are dead. My breathing is very shallow and laboured. I look down at my blood coated hands, some is my own, my knuckles are raw and bleeding, and one of my fingernails has been ripped off.
“Willow! Are you okay?” I hear Dawn ask. I look up and see Willow look up very dazed and confused. Oh my God!
“Willow!” I shout crawling frantically in her direction, stumbling a few times on the way.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” She says sitting up.
As soon as I reach her I collapse on top of her. “Oh my God, Willow I thought you was dead! I though that bitch killed you.” With Willow still pressed against my chest I rock her. “You’re alive, not dead.” Time seems to stop for a while as I hug her. “I love you.” I cry out. “Don’t ever die.”
“What happened?” Xander asks kneeling next to Willow, reaching out for her hand.
“Faith freaked out, she had a bad dream or something and then we were talking and then I woke up here, I think she threw me but I’m not sure.” She says rubbing her head. She brings her hand down to her face and sees the blood on it.
I jump back to action; I go over to Faith and start to kick her again. “You made her bleed! You fucking bastard!”
I feel arms holding me back. “Buffy, get off her, leave her alone!” It’s Willow shouting but it’s Xander, Spike and Jen who have their arms around me pulling me off her. I struggle and manage to get free again; I run into Faith and rain down hard punches onto her shoulders and back. My arms are pulled back one more time and I strike my left hand backwards it connects with something behind me. I’m not sure what and to be honest I couldn’t care less.
“Buffy get off!” I hear Willow shout again, I don’t stop but the next time I go to hit Faith I can’t, I’m hitting something before I get to her.
I turn to Willow with hurt in my eyes like she is spoiling my fun or something even though this is far from fun. I trusted Faith again, Willow has stopped the cops looking for her… we gave her, her freedom and this is how she thanks us? I knew we shouldn’t have trusted her! Once a murderer always a murderer!
I look down one last time to Faith. Even lying on her side she manages to rock. She looks as if she’s trying to claw her own eyes out and as I listen carefully I can hear a whisper reverberating from her lips. “Get it out. Get it out. Get it out. Get it out.” This repetitious whisper is all I can hear, as I am lead out of the room by Spike.
