Visionary Kiss II Part 25
EXT. QUONSET HUT - DUNES - MINUTES LATER
Ardeth, Jonathan and Rick were standing before Winston Havlock, the massive dunes of Erfoud, the shining sand giving a picture of solid hold that unseen moved in a steady speed since the first day, in the background.
"So what's your little problem got to do with His Majesty's Royal Air Corp?" Winston at this early hour still as good as rational asked Rick.
"Not a god-damned thing." Rick just smiled and kicked a little beetle that was right in front of his foot, he knew that this was the only way for them, and if Winston would not be willing to help, they would just have to force him.
Winston looked intrigued, "Is it dangerous?"
"You probably won't live through it." They all could see that this got them Havelock's attention; he now looked really interested at O'Connell, a sparkle in his eyes that made him look younger than his years, a sparkle that had not been there before.
"By Jove, do you really think so?" Winston for the first time in years felt something rattle inside of his Stomach.
"Everybody else we've bumped into has died, why not you?" Jonathan said finally understanding why Rick was so sure that Winston would help them, for him this all sounded insane, and if not his little sister would be in danger he would take the first train out of this country.
Winston's smile got even broader as he nodded his head, he was hooked, "So what's the challenge then?"
"To save the damsel in distress, kill the bad guy if needed and steal his treasure." Rick winked at the older man, they had won and he knew it.
A slow grin spread across Winston's face, then he gave them a snappy salute.
"Winston Havlock at your service, sir!"
SAHARA - DAY
Way off across the desert, where only some few animals were able to survive, having learned how within centuries of the evolution, a large sand-devil raced over the dunes.
The sandy whirlwind came to a stop and started to dissipate and leave Evey, Beni that were ejected out of it and landed in a dune.
Right beside them from nothing appeared Willow, just as the swirling sand condensed and formed into Imhotep. The high priest looked up into the sky, listening carefully.
Evey in the mean time tried to get as much sand as possible out of her hair and looked at Beni," What just happened?"
"All I remember is him turning into a blast of sand and then I remember nothing." Beni stood and walked away from the woman, something he did as often as possible, the redhead gave him the goose flesh.
"Its his magic, he has control over the desert, but if you ask me, we have other things to worry about." Willow moved and pointed at the sky, right to the point were Imhotep was looking, and then they all heard a plane in the sky.
INT. BIPLANE - DAY
The wind whipped at Winston in the cockpit and Rick in the gunner's compartment.
But the same wind almost ripped at Jonathan that was strapped spread-eagle across the left wing, while Ardeth was tied to the right.
Both men were not enthusiastic about this way of travelling, scared out of their wits, not so impressive screaming in fear.
EXT. SAHARA - DAY
Imhotep watched the plain for a little, then his jaw unhinged, his mouth opened to an inhuman size as he let out another one of his horrible shrieks that made Evey and Beni take a few steps away from him, as a massive wall of sand climbed up out of the desert.
BIPLANE - DAY
O'Connell watched the desert below them as it came alive and rose up towards the plane. Winston looked over the side and saw what was coming.
The pilot laughed, threw the throttle and took the plane into a dive. "Hang on, men!"
The sandstorm chased the diving, twisting biplane.
Getting closnd cnd closer, about to engulf it.
Rick looked back into the blinding sand and saw a giant face forming inside the sandstorm, his ears filled with the loud sounds of the machine and the even louder screams of his friends.
It was Imhotep.
Grinning.
Rick tool the Lewis machine-gun, cocked the bracket and fired, blasting away at Imhoteps' giant face inside the sandstorm.
This made the face began to laugh, the jaw unhinged, like it had done in the real face of Imhotep and it engulfed the plane.
Winston blindly fought for control, feeling totally elated, still laughing loud, "We're going down!"
The plane spun inside the blowing sand, like a little toy it was flung first to one than to the other side, to start all over again.
Engines roaring, the material creaking, the plain by brute force nearly broken apart.
The wind howling, swallowing the screams from Jonathan and Ardeth Bay, exactly like Winston Havelock's laughing.
"Here I come, ladies!" The pilot screamed, unheard by his passengers.
But they knew what was to come and so they braced themselves as much as possible for the impact.
SAHARA - DAY
Evelyn leaped to her feet and ran over to the priest, "Stop it! You'll kill them! Willow, you have to do something, you have to stop him!"
Willow moved fast as Imhotep reached out with both hands to grab Evey, she pushed the dark haired woman away, giving Imhotep a hard kick.
She cursed, there had to be something she could do.
Her train of thought was stopped as she was taken into strong arms; her deep green eyes stared into his shockingly intense ones.
Then it hit her. She kissed him, hard.
Evelyn's eyes got wide, stunned and mesmerized by the picture of the two people. This was unexpected.
Then she heard a roaring sound and turned back to reality, aware that O'Connell and her brother were in the plane.
Willow could feel the moment his magic lost the connection and she pushed her hands against his chest, using all her Strength to push herself away, landing with her butt right beside Evey in the sand.
Imhotep laughed as his eyes found the plane, this span through the air to disappear behind a dune, but as his eyes first looked onto Willows lips, to then look into her confused eyes, the laugh died.
EXT. BIPLANE - DUNES - DAY
The big plane smashed over a dune, rolled over and crashed upside-down into another dune. The sand swirled around as O'Connell fell out of the gunner's compartment.
The left wing was jammed into the dune, with Jonathan hanging upside down, "Excuse me. ...A little help would be useful. ...IF IT'S NOT TOO MUCH TROUBLE!!"
Rick moved fast over to the wing, helping Jonathan he cut the robes that held the man in place.
Bay freed himself and stumbled over to the gunner's compartment, to tore the Lewis fun off it's mount. He threw the machine-gun over his shoulder, a cartridge belt over the other and staggered away.
O'Connell and Jonathan looked into the cockpit.
Winston Havlock was dead.
A smile still on his now peaceful looking face.
Before they could get him out of the cockpit the plane suddenly started to move as the sand sank under their feet and they had to quickly high tail away.
Jonathan, Rick and Bay made it to some rocks and looked back to the biplane, with Winston still inside, as it slipped away over a dune.
Rick got up, standing stood still he gave his old friend one last salute, as the plane vanished over the dune and into the swirling sand.
