Then he kissed her and the connection between then felt complete. She felt whole for the first time in her life. This was what she was made for. To find this man, this mate and be his love, comforter and partner forever. He hesitated for a moment not sure if he should consummate their love so soon but at her urging he let go of his doubt and joined with her in a ritual older than time. There beast did what it was natural to do when finding a mate. They made love for hours.

The next day he went out to get some thing for her to wear until he could take her shopping. She didn’t want him to leave her but she knew he had to get her something to put on if he was to take her out in public. Kyra would have been happy to stay home nude with him forever but they had a job to do. While he was gone she fixed herself a sandwich like she had see others make. It was good and she was glad she didn’t have to survive off of demon flesh anymore. She still had to have it anytime she took beast form but she was reluctant to change back to that form after spending unknown years stuck that way.

He didn’t take long bringing her back a cotton top, jean, sandals, and underclothes. Seems he had learned a few things between Riddick and hanging out with girls most of the time since his friend Jesse died. Once dressed they headed to the library to talk to Giles.

Giles looked up as Xander walked in with a lovely young woman. “Xander good to see you. Who’s your friend?” he asked curiously as he noticed how close the two were standing. Kyra smiled, “If I curled around his feet would you remember me then Giles?” she asked in a singsong voice. Xander chuckled, “Kyra be nice.” As expected Giles began cleaning his glasses and muttering ‘dear lord’.

After explaining to Giles what happened he promised to do what he could to get the young woman some paperwork giving her an identity. When he asked what last name she wanted on her papers she turned to Xander and smiled, “Kyra Caitlin Fury” Xander just laughed again and hugged her placing a kiss on her forehead.

They left and went to the mall. Kyra was amazed at all the shops. Xander normally hated shopping but he was happy to see the delight on her face as she looked around the stores. He didn’t even complain much when she made him wait while she tried on outfits at Victoria’s Secret. He actually got very aroused thinking about seeing her in the outfits later. That and being the one taking them off of her as well. They had lunch at the mall then headed home to change. He took her out to dinner and a movie before heading to the Bronze.

Her hair was long and black with hints of red and blond here and there as if the sun had caressed each strand and kept some of the color to remember the pleasure of doing so. She had brushed it till it shined and left it free. It hung below her waist. She wore black leather pants and a blue halter top. He eyes were a dark blue with silver flecks like a clear night sky full of stars. Her high cheekbones and narrow chin still gave her a cat like look about her. Her natural grace added to it made her a beauty to behold.

Xander could not believe how lucky he was that she was his. Literally made for him and him for her. She wore no make up as she needed none. The only jewelry she wore was a silver heart he had gotten her that had their names entwined on it. The two of them where slowly dancing on the dance floor when the other arrived. Many people in the club were envious of the couple as they moved so well together. Even those that lusted after them had to admit they seemed made for each other.

Most who had known him in school just could not believe that this was Xander Harris. That they had known him for years and never seen the potential for him to become the man he was. He may only be seventeen but he was no teenage boy. After that strange Halloween everyone had admitted something was weird about their home town but no one said anything out loud.

Xander and Kyra left the floor and approached the table where Angel , Buffy, Oz, and Willow sat. They all started at Kyra as the girls wondered who this girl was. Angel and Oz had an idea but they could not tell for sure as the two smelled like each other after spending so many hours making love the night before. Angel finally spoke, “Kyra, you look lovely. I am very happy your curse was lifted as well but you know you don’t have to stay with loser boy now don’t you” he said teasingly. She tilted her head and glared at him, “Why would I leave my mate now that he has finally got his head out of his ass and claimed me?” she said with a smirk causing Angel and Oz to laugh and Xander to pout at her saying ‘hey’ as he pretended to be offended.

Buffy spoke Willow thoughts out loud with a well thought out, "Huh?” The men laughed more. Kyra huffed, “He finally realized I was his mate and it broke the spell binding me to my beast form. It’s me Kyra.” She said. Buffy still had a confused look on her face so Kyra smiled sweetly looking like a pixie. Xander saw the look and got ready to take cover. The other guys noticed and got really quiet. “Just so you know Buffy, Xander saved both our lives in the library the first time you saw me. If he had not disabled you then you may have hurt me with that sword but I would have eaten you before I died.” Kyra said in such a sweet tone that even Willow gulped.

Trying to break the tension as Buffy put two and two together still trying to make five, Willow smiled, “You do look good Kyra. I’m glad the curse was broken for you as well. You make my Xander shaped friend very happy. I guess you already know that if you hurt him I’ll kill you slowly and painfully so we don’t need to go there.” She said with a smile.

Kyra nodded to laughter in her voice, “No hurting but may be later we can talk and you can tell me all kinds of embarrassing stories I can use against him later when he puts his head back up his ass again?” she said sounding serious but Willow saw the twinkle in her eye and laughed as she nodded in agreement. Xander moaned and cursed under his breath while the other men looked at him in sympathy.

Mean while Buffy finally made four, “Your Kyra the cat?” she announced. The others gave her a look like you would give a pet for being good. Angel pulled her into his lap and kissed her on the head. Kyra looked at Oz, “I blame the bleach, be careful” the others giggled. The group all asked her questions as they talked and shared stories for about an hour, before SHE walked in.

Cordelia saw Xander and the gang laughing with some tall beautiful dark haired girl. She got jealous when Xander put his arm possessively around the girls waist. It didn’t help that the girl had like a perfect body. She figured the girl must be a gold digger after Xander’s money. She wondered why his invisible cat wasn’t tripping the bitch like it had done her. She figured she would get rid of the bitch for him. In her jealously it never occurred to her that Buffy and Willow would never let anyone this close to their Xander if she was going to hurt him.

Cordy walked up to the couple and snarked, “Trying to replace me with a cheap imitation already Xander? I’d bet Barbie has less plastic that this gold digger.” Xander groaned as Kyra turned around, “No Cordelia he just realized who his true mate was and freed me from my beastly form. The name is Kyra by the way. We never met but you did trip over me quite a few times when you got in my way” she said sweetly. Cordy’s jaw dropped then she huffed as she turned and walked away. The rest of the table giggles quietly. Xander just put his head in his hand before beating his head on the table and muttering, “Why do they all think I need to be protected?” again the guys sympathized as much as they could as the girls giggled.

Living with Kyra as a human was wonderful no matter the embarrassment she caused him. They worked out in the morning. Ate their meals together almost everyday. She hunted with him at night and worked on getting him to find his inner beast. She told him that as they were the same he could go into beast form too. After much work and endless patience on her part he finally managed to shift to beast form and back.

Then she took a camera and video taped him transforming so he could see it. As they watched Xander squeaked, “Damn I’m scary in beast form. I think some of the hyena changed it. I mean when you change you look all fierce and stuff but you’re still beautiful. I just look like a dark dangerous monster out of a really graphic nightmare. I mean the dark fur and silver spots, that ridge of fur down my back, the lion like mane and solid black eyes. I scar myself and I know that it is me.” He babbled in wonder. Kyra smiled, “Just think if you learn to control it. I shift back and forth easier but that is because you are trying so hard you control the shift bit by bit. With practice you may be able to half shift or just grow claws.” They both shuddered at the thought.

Kyra smiled at him, “I think your beast form is kind sexy. Wanna see how sexy we can be in our beast forms?” she flirted and took off to the gym. Xander was seconds behind her and shifting as he went. The last rational thought he had for the next few hours was how they needed to sound proof the house.

For several months the hellmouth was relatively quiet. Xander and Kyra took out the biggest bads to pad their pockets a bit. At her suggestion he got a licenses as a exterminator and opened a pets control business to pay taxes through and to show where their money came from. As she saw it most of their prey was vampires. The previous owner of the body paid them for removing the cockroaches who had taken over their life.

Giles got her legal paperwork and he and Xander helped prep her for testing out of school. With that done they were just two legally emancipated adults who finished school early and share a house. Life was good for the couple as they got closer everyday.
