I do not own Buffy the Vampire Slayer (BtVS), nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.

I know it has been a lifetime almost since I've written or posted anything. Life is crazy but I'm back trying to catch up with all these unfinished stories. I appreciate all the reviews and hope to live up to a few expectations...well, as long as they are good ones. :o)
Two days had passed and the three young ladies living in the Summer’s household hadn’t heard word one from Willow. Buffy wasn’t concerned. As much animosity as she held toward her former best friend, the Slayer was too busy trying to understand her current emotional state, or lack there of to be concerned with whatever Willow was doing now.
Sitting in front of the vanity mirror in her room, the bedraggled Slayer wondered not for the first time at the mess that had become her life. Sighing quietly as she stares into her own shadowed, hazel eyes, Buffy whispers, “Where do I go from here.”
Standing in the doorway to Buffy’s room, Tara echoes the Slayer’s sigh, hearing her whispered words as she steps into the room saying softly, “Not just you, Buffy, but US.” causing the Slayer to lift her somber face to the shy witch with a sad smile.
Returning the smile, Tara gives Buffy a full once over, noticing a few new scratches and bruises causing her to lose the smile and ask in a serious tone, “Are you hurt more than what I can see, Buffy?”
Allowing her shoulders to drop further in resignation, the Slayer nods once, knowing that the usually unassuming witch would be able to tell if she were lying and really not wanting to lie to her anyway.
Holding out a hand to the Slayer, Tara says, “Stand up and let me see.” Smiling softly as Buffy takes her hand gently and stands mumbling, “My ribs.” At which Tara sucks in a breath knowing how painful broken or even bruised ribs can be.
Leading the Slayer out of her room and down the hall to the bathroom, Tara says, “I’ll help you out of your clothes and you can shower. Then I’ll take a look at your ribs and wrap them if necessary, ok?”
Again Buffy nods shortly allowing Tara to begin untying her boots, as she herself begins to pull her shirt over her head. Stopping with a gasp of pain Buffy groans causing the witch to straighten up and stop any further movement from the Slayer, scolding her softly, “Stop Buffy, just let me or you’ll hurt yourself more.”
Quickly beginning to remove the Slayer’s shirt as Buffy allows herself to just go with whatever the witch wanted her to do, Tara winces in sympathy seeing for the first time the extent of Buffy’s injury. The bruising and swelling telling her that ribs were definitely broken though she wouldn’t know how many until she actually examined the Slayer. Having listened carefully to Buffy’s breathing, Tara realizes that though ribs are broken none have punctured a lung and she breathes out a sigh of relief at that as she sets the shirt aside and begins removing Buffy’s pants slowly so as not to jar the Slayer unnecessarily.
Standing up again as Buffy turns to get into the shower, Tara says, “I’ll get the kit and be back in a few minutes, Sweetie. Just get the main dirt off of you and dry off gently. I can tell at least one rib if not more are broken and I don’t want you shifting around too much, ok?”
Again the Slayer nods and without a word shuts the curtain as she turns on the water to let it heat as much as possible, wishing somehow she could keep the heat with her after leaving the shower. Shaking her head sadly at the loss of warmth she experienced in Heaven as well as everything else, Buffy sighs heavily and begins washing her body.
Remembering the warmth she felt as Tara held her the other night, in an effort to keep her from killing Willow, Buffy realizes that it was better than even the heat from the shower.
Shaking her head at that wondering if she could get Tara to hold her again wanting that warmth again but more she wonders if Tara felt anything while holding her. Reaching to turn off the water as she finishes rinsing off Buffy snorts a scoffing laugh figuring Tara felt nothing more than worry at the time since Buffy had at the time been ready to kill her ex-best friend, Tara’s girlfriend, or ex as the case may be. Reaching for the towel she sees flung over the curtain rod Buffy begins drying herself gently.
Having gathered the med kit after putting Buffy’s dirty clothes in the laundry, Tara returns to the bathroom to begin setting out what she’ll need to help Buffy. Finished she uses the hand sanitizer to cleanse her hands in preparation as Buffy turns off the water and the witch hears a soft snort of laughter from behind the shower curtain. Raising an eyebrow in surprise and curiosity Tara wonders what could make the nearly emotionless Slayer laugh but keeps her thoughts to herself not wanting to startle the Slayer by asking what she's laughing at.
Shaking her head sadly at the extent of Buffy's current state of emotions, the witch decides that it was time to start helping the Slayer heal or who knew what would come of Buffy's depression and anger. Plus she couldn't stand knowing how badly Buffy was hurting and not do everything in her power to help. Nodding her head determinedly Tara straightens her shoulders waiting as Buffy finishes drying.
