Chapter Two: Revelations

Three years prior, 1996.

Thunk. A small rock hit Amy across the stomach. The girl yelped out and sat up.

“About time you’re up, y’lazy ass!” Willow called out cheekily from across the gap separating their rooms.

Amy grumbled. ‘Why did I move my bed to under the window?’ She thought to herself begrudgingly, rubbing her slightly squishy stomach stomach. “What time is it, Wils?” She asked exasperatedly, still grumbling. The Celtic mix stood up, clinging her sheets around her.

“Two Thirty in the afternoon. As I said, lazy ass.” Willow said, smirking.

Amy leaned against the windowsill. “Well, you did keep me up till four in the morning talking!” She shot back, a smirk on her face.

“What can I say? We just got out of Middle School! I’m psyched!” Willow shrugged her shoulders.

“I have to agree with that.” Amy stated, smiling.

“Of course you do, I’m always right!” Willow said with a smug look on her face.

“Brat.”

“Nun.”

“Slut.”

“Scatter-brain.”

A phone rang downstairs of Amy’s house. “Shit…” she grumbled. Her parents were never home anymore, much like Willow’s. Conferences and the lot. She looked at Willow apologetically. “I need to get that.” Willow nodded and Amy took off down the stairs, tripping over her sheets, and standing up in a roll.

She shook her head to clear the birdies and picked up the phone. “Hello?” She asked shakily.

“Um, is Amy there?” A female voice that sounded familiar to her said.

“Yes, this is her.”

“Morgan? Is that you? It’s me, Buffy!” The girl said.

“Liz?! It’s been…three years!”

“Yeah…I know…I just got your number…”

“How are you?”

“Fine, I guess, Dad and Mom got divorced.”

“I’m sorry…How’s Dawn?”

“As good as can be expected…”

It was dark when she hung up the phone and walked back up stairs. She entered her room and dropped her sheets, walking over to her dresser. Ironically, this was exact time Willow walked into her own room and looked out of the window to see her best friend’s stark naked profile. Willow gave a playful cat call at Amy, who in turn snapped upward and blushed about as red as Willow’s hair. She pulled the sheets around her quickly, almost falling in the process.

Willow laughed heartily, clutching her stomach from her gaiety. “You are such a spaz sometimes.” Amy stuck her tongue out a Willow who simply winked at her lecherously. Amy rolled her eyes and blushed again. “Hey, you wanna stay over her tonight? The ‘rentals are gone, like usual, and I’m guessing yours are too…” Willow asked nonchalantly.

“Are you sure that’s a good idea? Might give Xander more fantasies…” Amy replied, being uncharacteristically sexual. Which caught Willow slightly off guard but quickly recovered.

Willow purred seductively at her friend. “That a bad thing, luv?” She asked. Amy blushed deep red again.

“No…not at all…” She smiled softly. “So I throw my stuff ‘cross the gap and walk around? Cause I’m not jumping again, don’t want another broken arm…” She said, smirking.

Willow nodded and Amy proceeded to do as such. “Okay, I’ll be over soon.” She said, after getting dressed.

She walked down her stairs and out her front door. After taking a few steps forward, she remembered she didn’t lock the door. Amy turned on her heel and walked up to her porch. Taking out her key, she slipped it into the lock and did the deed. Out of the corner of her eye, Amy spotted something glimmering out at the side of her house. She walked over to it picked it up. A quarter.

“Wow…I got distracted by a shiny quarter…how Xander of me…” She said, shaking her head. Amy turned around and stood face to face with a mysterious man.

“Little girl shouldn’t be out at night.” He said with a horrible British accent. He grinned at her, his bleach blonde hair slicked back. Amy took a step back and clenched the coin in her hand as if it could protect her. He lit a cigarette and stuck it in his mouth, taking a drag. “What are you gonna do, pelt me? You can barely hold your hand still.” He said, laughing at her. His leather duster flapping in the wind.

“W-who are you?” Amy asked, calming herself down a bit, but staying on guard.

“Who am I? Girly, you ain’t have lived too long then. Name’s William, but you can call me Spike, all my victims do.”

Amy gulped nervously. “Victims?” She asked, scared.

Spike grinned. “Oh yes…victims…” His face shifted and his eyes went yellow, fangs protruding from his upper set of teeth. He advanced on her and she did the first thing that came to mind. Amy threw the coin at him. He screamed in pain as his face started to frost over and freeze up at the impact. He hit her across the face, hard. Amy flew back into her trashcans, hitting the fence behind the garbage.

He growled. “Little bitch…” As he approached her another man tackled him and they hit the cement. He punched Spike hard in the face.

Her savior turned to Amy. “Run!” He screamed at her. She didn’t wait and took off running towards Willow’s house. She pounded on the door, glancing back occasionally at the two men fighting.

Willow opened the door and Amy pushed in, slamming the door behind her, panting and gasping for breath. Amy leaned against the door and slid down to the ground, looking at Willow with a more than slightly scared look on her face.

**

Morning came and the sun flitted in the window, right onto Amy’s and Willow’s bodies. Amy grumbled and buried her face deeper into Willow’s chest. Willow giggled and opened her eyes. She looked down at Amy and saw how the girl’s red-blonde hair splayed out across her own chest, completely hiding her face. Willow smiled and hugged her a little closer.

At least a hour went by before either one needed to move. Amy raised her face up to look at Willow and the latter looked down at her. Their lips were barely an inch away. Amy’s eyes drifted shut, as did Willow’s. Then reality hit them with what they were about to do and Amy pulled away quickly. She moved too fast, her foot caught on the bed she and the hit the ground with a loud thump. She stood up shakily blushing madly.

“I’m sorry…” She sputtered out, the blush reaching from her neck to her hairline, which Willow thought was cute. Amy turned away and sat on the end of the bed, staring at her hands on her lap. Awkward silence reigned for about ten minutes until she turned back around.

“Um…about last night…am I crazy?” She asked.

Willow quirked an eyebrow up at her. “Quite possibly. You’re claiming that your coin-“

“-and me,” she corrected.

Willow rolled her eyes at her. “Fine, and you, are magical, a vampire named Spike attacked you and a tall, dark and handsome hero saved you,”

Amy looked down at her hands again. “That’s what happened,” She said meekly.

“I think you’re bat shit loony,” Willow said and Amy sighed sadly. “But I do believe you, you’re not one to lie to me about anything. I know when you’re lying, and you truly believe that that’s what you saw last night,”

Amy remained silent and stared wistfully at her hands. Willow sat next to Amy and pulled her into a full hug, the indigo-eyed girl finally starting to cry from what happened the previous night.
