Thanks to everyone who has reviewed so far! I love you all!

Fenris Mourningstar: Thank you sooo much for all the compliments. And as for seperating Xander's thoughts...I was originally going to italicize them all, but it became too much of a bother while typing. I will try to do so in this chapter.
Selene: Yes, poor Xander. But you will soon see how much Spike is not a prick, in this instance.
Anon: Oh but he does, you'll see.
Elaine: Glad you love it! Updating right now, lol. Nice Xander puppy eyes btw.

Chapter Three - The Capture

Xander avoided Spike at all costs for the days following the event. Spike wasn't sure why. He'd given him what he wanted, hadn't he? Maybe I wasn't good enough. Maybe once he had me he decided I wasn't what he desired anymore, and doesn't want to tell me. Stupid bloody soul, keeps giving me all these sodding emotions! The next time Spike saw his one time lover was when Buffy needed the whole group in order to slay a large group of organized vampires. Xander was the very reason he was not concentrating completely on the task at hand when they were battling. When he saw an overwhelming number of the bloodsuckers gathering around an already injured Xander, he couldn't keep himself from going to help the mortal he cared for so dearly. And in the process, Xander was knocked unconcious, only to wake up seeing the remaining vampires carrying away a kicking, cursing Spike. "Fuck! Spike!" he exclaimed, getting up and steadying himself. "They got him. They took Spike," he told Buffy and the others. Giles, who'd been participating in less scooby meetings lately, sighed. "I'm sure he can take care of himself, " he started, "For all we know, he could be in on the whole thing. He is, afterall, still a vampire. Soul or not." Giles never truly learned to trust the blonde vampire ever since he worked with Angelus. "He's not!" Buffy shouted in response. Xander was still silent. He could not believe what was happening. Spike could be killed or sacrificed or who-knows-what tonight and it would be his fault. Completely his fault. If I hadn't been so weak...he wouldn't have come to help me. Then it would've been me that was taken and not him. God I wish it were me.

...Meanwhile...

"Get the bloody hell off of me you stupid wankers!" Spike exclaimed as he awoke being carried by some particularly ugly vampires. They had rendered him unconcious for most of the journey to make things easier, and to be sure that he doesn't know where he is. They were now approaching their destination. The vampires ignored Spike's insults and curse and continue to drag him along. He was led into an abandoned building and could not believe what was happening.

...Back to the scoobies...

The gang had walked back to Buffy's house in silence. At least Xander thought they were in silence. He'd been so wrapped up in his own thoughts, that he didn't even notice. It wasn't until he was the last person standing at Buffy's front door that he realized what was happening. "I-I'm gonna...go home...for the night," he muttered. The gang was going to say their goodnights and goodbyes, but he was already gone before they could look in his direction. "What's his deal?" Buffy asked. She didn't seem to have been very affected by the fact that Spike was taken, possibly even dust. She said it was because she knew he could deal with it himself, but everyone knew it was because she didn't care about him the way she should. "Uh...Buffy...maybe we need to talk," Willow said, hesitantly.

Once the others left, Giles specifically noting that he didn't want to hear whatever it was she had to tell Buffy, Willow decided to address the issue. It didn't exactly go as well as she hoped. Buffy had to be the most oblivious person of them all, besides Xander of course. "...so that's why Spike's capture has upset him so much," Willow finished explaining the situation to an open-mouthed Buffy. "WHAT?!" Buffy suddenly shouted, causing the red-headed witch to jump. "So you mean the reason Spike let me go so easy, the reason he's been so distant from me, the reason I haven't gotten any fucking sex from him, is because of Xander!" the blonde slayer ranted, standing up, to pace around the room. Willow shifted nervously in her seat, looking up at the angered girl. "Well...uh..." she suddenly knew how Tara felt all the time. At a loss of words. Buffy sighed loudly, the way she always does, and turned to face the nearest wall. "Just...get out. Go home. Now," the slayer said in a low voice. Willow nodded and stood, heading for the door. "Buffy...don't do anything...rash, okay? Xander is still your friend," the once uncool computer geek said, before leaving the house.

......

Xander could not sleep. Everytime he closed his eyes, he was all that could be seen. His platinum blonde locks, his gorgeous blue eyes, his perfectly sculpted body...it was all Xander could think of. Then it hit him. He had to help him. Buffy said she's take care of it. She told everyone to go home, and that she didn't want to risk losing us as well. We'd all go find Spike tomorrow, she said. But Xander couldn't wait until tomorrow. So much harm could be done to the soulled vampire in one night, and Xander didn't want to risk it. But how the fuck is someone like me going to save him? His thoughts were interrupted by a sudden, loud knock on the door. He was suddenly very glad he hadn't been sleeping, but that opinion was soon to change. He got up slowly from his bed, pulled on a nearby pair of jeans, not bothering with a shirt. There was a slight hint of hope in the back of his head hoping that is was Spike. That the vampire was able to escape and ran all the way to Xander's place. But all of those hopes were ruined when he opened the door.

"Buffy?" he responded wearily. He knew it couldn't be good, judging by the look on her face. The slayer barged into the small home and stood in the living room. Xander closed the door, walked over towards her, and braced himself. "You...you...like Spike?" Xander's expression slowly transitioned from confusion to fear to embarrassment and finally settled on shock. "H-How did you, uh, find out?" he asked shyly. He wanted to find out how much she knew before giving her any kind of actual response. "Willow told me. She told me how you have feelings for him that you've never had for anyone else. She told me how you knew it was a wrong thing to be in love with your friend's boyfriend," Buffy explained, her voice not giving away any certain sight of emotion. "I-I'm sorry. Are you...mad?" Xander replied weakly. "No. I'm not mad. Not at you at least. I know you can't control your feelings, and I shouldn't keep you from those feelings since I feel nothing for him and we were breaking up anyways," she said. Xander let out a sigh of relief. "I am, however, upset. I'm upset that you didn't tell me about this...that you thought I wouldn't accept you. You're my best friend, Xander, and I love you no matter what. You should know that," she then smiled sheepishly, and put her hand on his shoulder. "You can tell me anything, Xander, even if it happens to involve you having a crush on my boyfriend." It's more than a crush,Xander thought,we fucked. He even blew me for christ's sake.

"Okay," he chuckled softly, and part nervously. "I guess I just wasn't sure what you'd think. I mean, I'm not even sure what I think of myself," he paused again, considering whether or not to continue. "Since we're being truthful...I think I should tell you something else. Something Willow doesn't even know. It also has to do with Spike." Buffy nodded slowly. "Tell me," she said simply. "Well...we kind of...you know...and, well, he knows about my feelings and-" he was interrupted. "What? Xander, you're not making a lot of sense here," Buffy remarked. "We fucked," he finally said after a long awkward pause of silence. Buffy's eyes went wide with shock, and then carried an amused glint. "Really? Wow," she said, "Can't say that's a bad mental image." Xander jumped backwards at the words. "Buffy!" he exclaimed in shock and amusement. "What? You're hot, he's hot. I don't see why I can't enjoy the thought of it," she replied. Xander turned all different sorts of red. "I'm beginning to think it would've been better if you hated me," he stated sarcastically. The slayer simply rolled her eyes. Xander suddenly remembered the situation at hand. "We have to get him. Tonight. Please go with me Buffy. Help me help him?" he said in an almost pleading voice. "Of course I'll help you. I don't see any way of talking you out of it, and you'd be killed if I didn't go with," she said. "I would not - oh, wait...I probably would," Xander replied, unsuccessfully trying to defend himself.

......

After meeting up with the others to discuss a plan, the Scooby Gang set off on a Spike-saving adventure. Xander was surprised the others, besides Giles, were willing to help so much. We don't need the old man anyways, Xander thought, referring to Giles. But his mind soon began to wander. What if we don't find Spike? What if we get their in time to sweep up a pile of platinum blonde dust? He couldn't think like this. Not now. Spike was fine...he could take care of himself. He's probably in the process of some serious ass-kicking this very moment.

...Meanwhile...

"Aaaaah!" a certain blonde vampire screamed in pain. The soulled vampire was shackled to a wall in an abandoned factory, which was funny, because not long ago, it was the kind of place Spike himself would have called home. But Spike wasn't the only one in that factory. Oh no, there were many others in that dim building, and they just happened to have the very plan Spike had devised so many times in the past. They were going to kill the slayer. And they weren't at all secretive about it either. In fact, they'd been discussing their plan ever since they tied the soulled vampire up. Spike figured they either were really stupid, or were planning on killing him before he could share their plans with anyone else. Of couse Spike hadn't exactly been the quiet listener either, adding snide remarks and comments any time he felt neccessary. The other vampires soon grew tired of it, and that was when they decided it'd be more fun to torture him than work on their plan. Spike immediately wished he knew how to shut up.

At one time the intense pain would have turned him on. Now he just wanted to get a stake and be put out of his misery. He decided to try and focus on things other than the scalpel that was now being dug into a sensitive spot on his thigh. He focused on better, less painful things, like Xander. He closed his eyes, picturing the beautiful brunette in his mind. He managed a twitch of a smile at the image. "Got something to smile about, boy?" the appearent leader of the group asked, thrusting a sharp mystery object into one of Spike's only areas left unbleeding. "Uuuarrgh!" he screamed in agony, and then fell unconcious.
