Chapter 3

Here another update. Thanks to all who reviewed.

******

The rest of the day was a huge rush for Buffy. She didn’t pay attention through her classes, her mind was completely focused on seeing Faith again. The way she looked at Faith completely changed overnight and she just couldn’t get over it. It was like being kissed by the younger girl opened a whole world to her. As soon as her last class ended, she rushed out of the school and met Willow outside so they could walk home.

“Hey, Will,” Buffy rushed up to her best friend, “good day?”

“Yeah,” Willow responded excitedly, “we had this pop quiz in advanced chem and I’m sure I aced it and how geeky is it that I’m excited about that?”

“Pretty geeky,” Buffy affirmed and smiled. She took hold of the redhead’s arm and rushed them away from the school and down the sidewalk, not wanting anyone to overhear. “I’m going out with Faith again.”

Willow’s eyes did a repeat performance of what they had that morning and she stared at Buffy, shocked once again. “Is that what you two were whispering about this morning?”

Buffy nodded, “She asked if I was okay with last night and when I said yes, she asked if I wanted to do it again.”

“And you said yes?”

“Yeah,” Buffy answered, trying to concentrate on the conversation she was having and not on what she would be doing later with her fellow slayer.

“Buff, are you gay?” Willow asked her with a raised eyebrow.

Buffy stopped walking and looked at her best friend. Oddly enough, she hadn’t even thought about that. She furrowed her brow and thought, hard. “I don’t think I know anymore, Will.”

Willow put a hand on the blonde’s shoulder. “It doesn’t matter if you are, you know. Xander and I’ll always be your friends.”

“I know,” Buffy smiled and the pair continued walking. They were silent until the two of them reached Buffy’s house and the blonde spoke up. “What do you think she expects of me?”

Willow looked at her and thought for a moment. “I don’t know,” she finally said. “She’s super-hard to read and doesn’t say much when you want her to.”

“Believe me, I know,” Buffy agreed as she unlocked the door and let Willow in, following her after she entered. “Who knows what I’ll have to do to get her to talk about herself.”

Willow laughed. “You’ll have to give me details on your date tonight.”

“First thing tomorrow,” Buffy agreed.

Faith was fidgeting around her room the entire day. She couldn’t believe Buffy had agreed to go out with her again. She had thought last night had been a fluke for sure and that the blonde would have told her off the next morning. As soon as she had left Buffy’s house, she mentally kicked herself, feeling she had come on too strong. It didn’t seem to be the case though, because now they were going out... again.

She was also kicking herself for not going over to Buffy’s house to meet her. Faith spent the whole day picking up her room, but it just didn’t look good enough. No matter what she did the place would always be in shambles. She wanted everything to be perfect for Buffy.

She had never been like this before. She had never wanted to date someone, get to know them before jumping into the sack... and now her mind went straight to the gutter. Slapping her head, she tried to shake off her thoughts and then turned at the sound of someone knocking at her door.

“It’s only six-thirty,” she muttered to herself as she walked to the door and looked through the peephole. Sure enough, Buffy was on the other side. Faith sighed and brushed off her clothing before opening the door. “Hey, B. Is there some apocalyptic emergency?”

Buffy looked almost hurt at Faith’s comment. “No... I just thought we could hang out until we had to patrol.” She paused. “Of course, if you’re busy, we can just meet up later.” She turned to leave, but Faith grabbed her arm gently.

“Wait, that didn’t come out the way I wanted it to,” Faith pulled Buffy into the room and smiled. “Come on in.”

The blonde smiled back and walked into the room, taking a seat on the brunette’s bed. Faith jumped up and sat on the dresser across from her. Both girls looked both at their feet before Buffy spoke up.

“You know, Faith,” she smiled over at the younger slayer, “I don’t know all that much about you. You’re not very descriptive when it comes to your past.”

“There’s not much to know,” Faith shrugged, “I gave you the short version when I came here. There’s not much else.”

“I’m sure there is,” Buffy kept smiling, “but you’ll tell me eventually.”

“You’re sure about that?” Faith asked, raising an eyebrow.

Buffy nodded. “So, where are we going tonight?”

Faith shrugged again. “I really didn’t think that far ahead. I didn’t think you’d say yes.”

“Yeah, I don’t know what’s going on with me,” Buffy said, “but I really like you.” She blushed at her last words and Faith grinned.

“You do?”

Buffy nodded, looking down, and Faith hopped off the dresser. She walked over and sat down next to the blonde.

“I really like you, too, B,” she said as she brought a hand up to brush some of Buffy’s hair out of her face. The older slayer looked up at her as Faith leaned in and gently kissed her. She only let it last for a second before she pulled away.

Buffy closed her eyes as Faith softly kissed her then opened them as she felt the other girl pull away. She smiled at her as she stared into the brunette’s huge brown eyes. “Mmm, that was nice,” she said almost dreamily.

“Have to agree with you there, B,” Faith laughed softly. She placed her hand on top the blonde’s, which was on her thigh. She really wanted to keep kissing Buffy, but knew well enough to keep this slow. The last thing she wanted was to scare her off. “So, where are we going after patrol?”

Buffy thought for a second. “Why don’t we just go back to my house and grab some food, maybe watch a cheesy B movie on TV?”

Faith just grinned at her. “That doesn’t sound like much of a date, B.”

Buffy shrugged. “Any other ideas?”

“No,” Faith shook her head, “I think it’s a great idea.”

Buffy’s eyes looked down at Faith’s hand on hers. “So... what do you normally do before patrol?”

“Not much, really,” Faith said as she took her hand off Buffy’s, “I just kinda hang around here. You know, relax before I gear up for some fighting.”

“Okay,” Buffy smiled and scooted back so she was fully on the bed, her back resting on the headboard, “I’m relaxed.”

Faith looked at her with a raised eyebrow. “You’re going to relax...here?” Faith asked, looking at the blonde and pointing at her bed.

“Sure. Why not?” Buffy smirked a little. “Sit down.”

The brunette cautiously took a seat next to Buffy on the bed... her bed. She was so nervous she couldn’t even think straight. The girl she couldn’t stop thinking about was actually in her motel room, with her, on her bed. Faith was so wrapped up in thinking about the situation she didn’t realize Buffy was trying to get her attention.

“Faith? Hey, Faith,” Buffy grinned as she waved a hand in front of Faith’s face. “Where did you go to?”

Faith shook her head. “Sorry, B, just thinking.”

“About what?”

“It’s nothing,” Faith said, trying to avoid the way the conversation was going. All she could think about was how much she wanted to get all hot and naked with Buffy on this very bed. “Let’s just watch some TV.”

“Okay,” Buffy agreed, not wanting to push the young slayer into talking about things she wasn’t comfortable with. She leaned back on the bed as Faith switched on the TV.

******

Faith woke up a little over an hour later to someone on TV droning on and on. She squinted toward the window and saw it was almost dark and felt a hand resting on her stomach. Buffy was asleep next to her, turned on her side so she was facing the brunette, her head resting lightly on her shoulder and her hand was resting on Faith’s stomach.

Faith’s eye’s went wide and thought hard on the right way to react to this situation. It shouldn’t have been a big deal, but she wasn’t very sure about Buffy. She didn’t want her to react badly to this even though it was the blonde’s doing in the first place. In the end, she thought it was best to ignore the older slayer’s hand and closeness completely and gently leaned in, her hand lightly shaking her awake.

“B?” she asked, pressing her hand on the blonde’s shoulder. “Come on, B, time to get up.”

Buffy groaned and moved closer to Faith, her own hand now moving across Faith’s stomach. After a few seconds, she opened her eyes slightly. “What time is it?” she groaned out, looking up at the young slayer.

“Almost dark,” Faith said, “which means it’s time for us to get to work.” She moved a little, still trying not to pay attention to the blonde’s hand.

“Yeah,” Buffy agreed and looked down at her hand. She blushed lightly and moved it, placing it on her own leg. Her curiosity getting the better of her, she put her hand on Faith’s cheek before leaning in to kiss the brunette lightly.

Faith smiled into the blonde’s lips and placed a hand on Buffy’s shoulder, moving it around lightly. They broke apart with both of them smiling.

“What was that for?” Faith asked, her smile turning into a grin. She was hoping she was starting to corrupt Buffy and that she wouldn’t have to just fantasize about her anymore.

“I don’t know,” Buffy responded, grinning, “I just thought I’d try something.” She quickly moved off the bed and straightened up her clothes. Looking out the window, she added, “We should probably get going.”

Faith sighed. “Yeah, you’re right.” She stood up and stretched, smiling as she could swear Buffy was checking her out. “We still going back to yours after?”

The blonde blushed. “I don’t know if that’s a good idea. I mean...”

“B, it’s okay,” Faith said, walking over to her, “it’s not like I’m gonna jump you as soon as we get in the door. I have more restraint than that. Of course, if you want to...”

Buffy turned a brighter shade of red and swatted Faith on the arm. “Stop that.”

“I can’t help it,” Faith laughed, “you’re cute when you blush.” With that comment, she pulled Buffy into an embrace and was pleased when the blonde relaxed against her. She let the feeling of Buffy that close to her last for a few moments then released her.

The blonde smiled. “We should get going. Those vamps aren’t going to slay themselves.”

Faith only nodded and followed Buffy out the door.

******

The chosen two slowly walked into Buffy’s house a few hours later. Both were dusty and dirty from dealing with some unusually strong vamps, but Faith had gotten cut a couple times from a filthy vampire wielding a knife.

“Come on,” Buffy said, a concerned look on her face, “lets get into the kitchen and get you cleaned up.”

Faith walked behind her, a hand on her side holding the largest wound she received. “I’m five by five, B, really. The cut’s shallow, I’ll be all healed by the morning.”

“Not if it’s infected, Faith,” Buffy grabbed Faith’s arm and started to pull, “now stop being a baby and get in here.”

“Them’s fighting words, B,” Faith chuckled as she let herself be dragged into the kitchen. When the older slayer finally let go of her, she took a seat at the table while Buffy got out a first aid kit and kneeled in front of her.

“All right, lets see it,” she almost commanded.

Faith thought about making a crude comment, but decided against it. It really didn’t seem like the right time. She slowly lifted up her shirt just enough for Buffy to see the gash on her side. The blonde reached out and touched it and Faith winced slightly.

“Shit, I’m sorry,” Buffy quickly brought her hand away from Faith.

“It’s okay,” Faith said as she put her hand on Buffy’s shoulder and looked down at her. “Just do your thing and get it over with.”

Buffy smiled and gently cleaned out the cut. She took a moment to admire how smooth the brunette’s skin was, how soft it felt. She wondered if the rest of Faith’s skin felt like that. She finished bandaging the cut, standing up and pulling Faith up with her. “See, all better.”

“Yeah,” Faith said and looked down at her shirt. “Oh shit, there’s a hole in my shirt... and lots of blood.” She wasn’t too happy about that. Slaying was a hazardous job, but she was running out of shirts and money to pay for new ones.

Buffy looked at it. “Well, I guess the shirt’s dead. I can get you something else to wear upstairs. See if you can find some food for us, okay?” she said as she walked out of the room.

Faith sighed and looked around. She walked over to the fridge and looked at the various items there. Sighing again, she walked over to the cupboards and looked around in there, but couldn’t find anything quick and easy to make. She was interrupted in her search when Buffy came back into the kitchen, a t-shirt in her hands.

“Here,” she said as she tossed Faith the shirt, “put this on.”

Faith caught it easily and looked down at it, then at Buffy. She normally would just change right there, but she really didn’t want to do or say anything wrong or make Buffy end whatever it was they were doing. Oddly enough, the blonde walked past her and studied the contents of the fridge, turning her back to Faith. The brunette quickly changed shirts then cleared her throat, giving Buffy the signal it was okay to turn around.

“Thanks,” Faith said quietly.

“No problem,” Buffy smiled then looked around the kitchen. “There’s really not a whole lot here, is there?”

“Not really,” Faith smiled back. “Do you know how to cook chicken? I think I saw some in there.”

Buffy laughed, “The kitchen and I are not friends and I think my mom distinctly said not to burn down the house.”

“Well, I can,” Faith said, “unless you have any other ideas.”

“Go for it,” the older slayer waved her hand toward the stove.

Faith nodded and got to work cooking, Buffy sitting on the opposite counter and watching. Forty-five minutes later they were done eating and walking into the living room, both relaxing on the couch. Buffy switched on the TV and started flipping channels but both slayers groaned once they realized nothing was on.

“This plan sounded good in theory,” Buffy groaned, trying to find anything on.

“That’s okay, B,” Faith said and got up, “I think I’m gonna head home. Tonight took a lot outta me.”

Buffy grabbed the young slayer’s hand, stopping her. “Wait... why don’t you stay here?”

Faith shook her head a couple times to try and clear her head. “What?”

“You can stay here,” Buffy said easily. “It’s late and you really don’t have to walk back to the motel.”

The brunette thought for a moment then smiled. “Sure, B. Which way to the bedroom?” She saw Buffy’s shocked look and laughed. “I’m just kidding, B. I’ll crash down here.”

“Well...” Buffy looked up, thinking. She started to say something then stopped. She still had a hold of Faith’s hand and silently pulled her toward the stairs.

Faith let herself be led up the stairs and up toward Buffy’s room, her mind a jumble of thoughts. “B, what are you doing?”

“You can stay up here with me,” the blonde said, looking back at her. “Just don’t try any funny stuff, okay?”

“Absolutely,” Faith led up her free hand with a grin. “Lead the way.”

The pair walked quietly into the blonde’s bedroom and Buffy grabbed a pair of pajamas. “Do you want something else to wear?”

“Nah, I’m good,” Faith waved her off and sat on the edge of the bed.

“Okay,” Buffy nodded, “I’ll be right back.”

The blonde walked out of the bedroom and into the bathroom, closing the door behind her. Faith kicked off her shoes and rubbed the side of her face, trying to figure out what the hell Buffy was doing. She shook her head, trying to analyze the situation, and moved to lie on one side of the bed. A couple minutes later Buffy reappeared in shorts and a tank top.

“Well, good night,” she said and got under the covers next to Faith.

Faith shifted a little closer to her and turned on her side. She reached out and traced her fingers along Buffy’s shoulder before leaning in and kissing her gently.

Buffy opened her eyes a little at this move from the brunette then closed them and cupped Faith’s face with her hand. She thought it extremely weird that she was okay with this situation, but all she could think was how good it felt. She felt Faith move away from her and she sighed.

“Was that okay?” Faith whispered, her face still close to the blonde’s.

“Yeah,” Buffy breathed out and closed the distance between them again, kissing the younger slayer tentatively.

Faith smiled against the blonde’s lips and ran her tongue along her bottom lip, hoping Buffy would want this to continue. She felt the blonde part her lips slightly and she smiled, slowly sliding her tongue into the older slayer’s mouth.

The pair kissed tenderly, deeply, as Faith inched her way toward Buffy until she was half on top the older girl. Buffy must have realized where they were and what they were doing because she suddenly opened her eyes and broke the kiss.

“Too fast?” Faith gasped out, hovering above Buffy.

The older slayer nodded slowly. “Probably a little. I mean, we’re making out in my bed. I’d consider that a little fast.”

Faith moved away from Buffy and rested on her side. “Yeah, but that was wicked cool, right?” she asked, grinning.

“It didn’t suck,” the blonde answered. “Good night, Faith.”

“Good night.”
