“Oh no daddy…” whispered Drusilla Morgan from the corner of her padded room. Softly she stroked the wall. “Oh daddy…. Stay away from the light… The stars are saying terrible things you know.” She said standing, then slowly she swayed her way over to the visitor. “They say the sunshine’s coming to wipe them away.” Her eyes suddenly narrowed as she leaned in to whisper into Ethan Rayne's ear. “They say she’ll wipe you away.” Turning she walked briskly to her bed and picked up her dolly Miss Edith. It had taken her 2 years of unbelievably good behavior to earn the right to keep her dolly with her, and now Drusilla treated her like a queen. Lightly she petted Miss Edith’s knotted curls with a distant look on her face. Suddenly her eyes widened and her entire face lit up. “We get to go out to day, do we not?” Drusilla spun around to face Ethan.

With an almost predator looking grin, Ethan replied “Indeed. You do Drusilla, now here’s a pretty dress for you to wear. Go on, change into it.” He closed the door gently behind him, and watched as the lucid beauty undressed….

Buffy Summers looked out the window into the hazy gray sky as the plane tipped and trembled around her. England was in the middle of an electrical storm currently so the plane was hovering just off the coast of Wales as it died down.

Beside her sat Wesley Windum-Price, and behind her sat Charles Gunn, both were a dispatch team of St. Julian's Medical Center, where she had been told she was going.

It had been almost 4 weeks since her 17th birthday party, when the whole incident had taken place. Since then Buffy hadn’t said a word, except for the screams that punctuated her nightmares. Matter of fact, this was the only way Inspector Wood could prosecute Hank Summers, because other then that, Buffy wouldn’t even acknowledge that night almost a month ago.

She hadn’t been eating much, or very well, and she would only shower when told. She wouldn’t speak to classmates, teachers, friends of the family. At her mother’s will was the first and last time she even showed emotion, which came in the form of a very singular tear down her cheek.

Everyone wondered what deep down, Buffy Summers was thinking. She had always been a type of legacy both at her old school in L.A. and at her later one in Sunnydale. She had been this bright little ray of sunshine. Big and bold in spirit, though tiny in size. She had the heart of everyone who met her, with her goofy personality and positive outlook, it was no wonder she was visited by practically the entire school once word got out.

But honestly, even Buffy didn’t know what she was thinking, deep down. It was all a lumpy blur.

Like when you were making pudding. Buffy thought. And the mix got into lumps and no matter what you did or how hard you tried you just couldn’t seem to get the lumps out…. You just stirred and stirred and stirred till finally you left it be to go read the box, but you couldn’t find the box and when you came back it was all smoothed out. And you always ended up wondering if mom cam in to help.

Buffy’s eyes started to water as she closed them and leaned against the window.

Oh mom. Buffy sighed, thinking about pudding. How am I supposed to ever live now? But slowly she remembered her home economics class from 8th grade… Oh my god… She realized, You have to simply leave it alone, it’ll be ready when its time. And with that, Buffy Summers made up her mind. Turning to her travel companions she made one small request.

“Do you think, when we land, we could pick up a pack of Jell-O Chocolate Pudding?” She asked innocent as can be, tears streaming down her glowing face.

Wesley looked at Buffy with small but startled grin. He had known this girl personally for two years, his summer home in Hawaii was right next door to her father’s. Carefully he wrapped an arm around her. Giving her a gentle hug, but feeling her tense up he pulled out quickly.

“Yes Buffy, I do believe that can be arranged. Gunn will make the call as soon as we land. Okay?” He asked, his eyes shinning. He could tell that some how, the world made a bit more sense again to Buffy Summers.

“Thank you.” She smiled.

“Hello? Breakthrough? Are you sure? Yes, yes get the Jell-o and then report here immediately. We’ll have a room set up for her, but it’d be better if you brought her to the analyzing room, where we can… go over shall we say, this little breakthrough of hers. Okay, thank you, good bye.” Ethan Rayne slammed down the phone. This definitely wasn’t going as planned.
