Chapter 3

Jim drove down the highway from the bar and his boss. He was a loyal employee to his boss. He always got the job done and never asked questions, but this job disturbed him for some reason. Jim knew the law firm would be after them, and he knew that they would win and his boss and himself would lose, probably their lives. He pulled his car over to the side of the road in front of the law firm he feared. Although he was terrified of the firm and more importantly the CEO, Angel the vampire, he was even more terrified of his boss and the Senior Partners themselves. He would much rather be on their team than the loosing team, also he wanted his boss stopped. Permanently. As he walked into the offices his mouth fell open in amazement. The foyer was large, luxurious and stylish. Jim couldn’t believe his eyes. He walked over to the front desk and asked to see Angel.

The phone went off in Angel’s office and he answered it.
‘Angel’ he answered simply. ‘Yes, I’ll be right down’ He picked up his coat and headed to Gunn’s office. The suited black fighter who had had the law implanted into his brain, was sitting at his desk with a pile of papers in front of him which he was flipping through.
‘Angel’ he exclaimed as Angel entered, ‘How can I help?’ He asked putting down his file and giving his boss his full attention.
‘Can you come with me down stairs to see a client? He’s just walked in and sais he’s got information on the case were on!’ he asked, standing in front of Charles Gunn’s desk.
‘Yer, sure. What do you need me to do?’ He replied standing, and coming round to stand with Angel.
‘I’m not sure, but I get the sense he’s either got information, or he’s been part of it!’ He said as they walked towards the elevator and pressed the ground floor button. They stood in silence while the elevator took them down.

Angel lifted his drug filled head to look the man in the face as he was circled. Angel flicked his wrists, testing the strength of the wrist cuffs holding him to the ceiling in such an uncomfortable position. The cuffs were good quality and weren’t going to break, even if he had been able to muster some of his normal strength, which at the moment didn’t seem likely, while the man walked round him for the ninth time, beginning to make Angel dizzy. The man walking round him was wearing a long dark coat with a turned up collar so his face was partly obscured but his skin was a dark brown from days in the sun. Not a luxury Angel could afford these days. Being a vampire meant a lot of things were off his to do list. Along with sunshine come crosses, holy water and of course pointy wood threw his heart of having his head lopped off.
So far, through thick and thin, through danger and tragedy, Angel had managed to avoid these things for about four hundred and fifty years and wasn’t planning on being buried again just yet.
