Chapter 3
“I’m coming!” Cordelia yelled as the phone rang a third time. “I’m coming, don’t hang up!” she repeated as she ran into the living room and rushed to the phone.
“Hello?” she answered, breathing deeply.
“Cordelia, it’s Wes-“
“I know who it is.” she interrupted, smiling brightly. “So? Did you tell her? What happened?” she asked in excitement.
There was silence on the other end and her smile quickly faded. “Wes?”
“I-I had two different scenarios I was preparing for. But, well, neither of them took place. Which I guess isn’t really a bad thing, but, well… not a …good thing either.”
“What do you mean?” she asked, sitting on her couch, pulling her legs under her.
He sighed. “I told her.” he paused. “And she seemed to go into shock or something. She said- she said she was going to patrol and that she wouldn’t be long.”
“She just left?”
“Yes… to patrol.” he repeated.
The blonde sighed and shook her head. “Wes, I’m sorry. I really-“
“It’s alright, Cordelia. I’m fine.” he paused again. “I-“
A knock at the door startled Cordelia and she jumped, almost dropping the phone. “Wes, hold that thought. I gotta get the door.” She said, getting up and heading to the door. She looked through the peephole, seeing Faith standing there, looking upset. “Ooh! She’s here!” she hissed into the phone. “Wes, she’s here. Lemme talk with her and then I’ll call you back. Alright?”
He sighed. “No need. I’ll uh- I’ll just see you tommorow.”
“Okay… bye.” She said softly and hung up. She ran to the door again and opened it, stepping aside to allow Faith entrance. She looked completely out t. Nt. No grip on reality.
“Are you alright?” she asked in concern.
