Chapter Three

William remained still for the full minute during which he was under his best friend’s scrutiny. The silence was deafening. That was of course before Faith did the cruelest thing that she could have done at such a moment. She kissed William on the cheek, sat up, and exploded with uncontrollable laughter. Faith laughed so hard, rolling around on the bed with such abandon, that William had to jump off in order to escape injury. He crossed his arms over his chest, unconsciously hugging himself, and began to pace the distance between his bed and his closet trying to shake off his hurt feelings .
How dare the bloody cow laugh at me! Does she take my feelings for a joke? Here I go and poor my heart out to this bint and what does she do? Is she supportive? No. Guess again ol’ chap! She LAUGHED at me! Good goin’ Will. So wrapped up was he in his angry thoughts that he did not hear Faith stop laughing, nor did he hear her calling his name repeatedly.
She stood and intercepted William mid silent rant. Her heart dropped to the pit of her stomach when she saw the tears threatening to fall from her friends eyes.
Damn. She thought guiltily. You would think that after all these years that I would be used to how sensitive he is. “Hey,” Faith said softly. “I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings. But you gotta admit,” she gave Williams arm a little squeeze., “I’ve heard that line before.”
William swiped his hand across his eyes and indignantly replied, “My feelings weren’t hurt.” Faith chuckled. “Yeah right Dude. So why are you pouting.” And with that she poked at the full pink bottom lip of her unfortunately gay best friend. Stupid cow thinks she knows me so well. “I wasn’t poutin’.” He scowled at the mocking nod that his comment received. Exasperated he blurted, “Oh shut up you bint!” Faith wrapped her arms around her friend and gave him a tight hug. “I love you,” she spoke into his shoulder. “I just don’t want you getting hurt is all.” She felt Williams arms slip around her waist before pulling her into an equally tight hug. “Luv ya too, “ he answered. Faith pulled back and look William straight in the eyes. “We cool?”
William stared back into the eyes of his confidant. “Yeah, luv. We’re cool.”
Faith gave him a playful shove before turning back to sit on the bed. “Now enough of this sappy shit.” she wisecracked while wiping her own eyes inconspicuously before sitting down. “ Give me the scoop.”
William rubbed his arm where Faith had hit him. If only I were straight. He thought to himself. Taking a deep breath William began to sing all of Lindsey’s praises. He went on and on about how handsome Lindsey was. “Faith,” he swooned. “He has the most beautiful blue eyes. They are the color of the ocean.” he sighed. “I swear, I could just drown in them.” William then went onto to describe in detail their encounter. “He was so gentle, Faith. He took me into the stall and backed me up against the wall. Then he kissed me long and hard. Oh! But not too hard. He wasn’t pushy or anything. He was just so masterful.” He smiled as he recalled the memory. “And then he ran his fingers underneath my shirt and rubbed his hand across my chest, pinching my nipples.”
Faith looked on at William who seemed to forget that she was there as he spoke. His eyes were closed and he smiled to himself as he recounted the rest of his experience.
“Then he started to unbuckle my belt and unbutton my trousers, all the while still kissing the breath out of me.”
Oh shit! Faith thought miserably. He’s got it bad.
“And then he pulled me out right , and he starts to pull me off nice and slow. And just when I think it can’t possibly get any better, he falls to his knees and takes me into his mouth.”
“WHAT!” Faith shrieked. “William were you wearing a condom? What if this jerk has AIDS or something?”
William snapped out of his reverie. “Don’t be an ass! He wasn’t sick,” was his retort.
Faith sucked her teeth and jumped up. It was now her turn to pace the room in a snit. I can’t believe how fucking stupid this kid can be! She came close to voicing her thoughts, but continued to walk off her anger before speaking.
“William,” she started.
Oh Christ. Here we go. William braced himself for the lecture which he knew was coming. Faith continued in the same serious tone, “You know full well that you can’t always tell that a person is sick just by looking at them. What the hell were you thinking.”
William looked at his feet having been properly reminded of the possible consequence of his hasty actions. He looked up into the pained expression on his friends face. “I’m sorry,” he stated plainly. “I wasn’t thinking.”
Faith rolled her eyes and sighed. She sat back down next to her friend and took both of his hands into her own. “Listen Blondie,” she said. “I worry about you, alright.” “You’ve been hurt before. I really hope that this guy is your knight in shining armor or whatever.”
It was no secret that the voluptuous brunette had little trust in the male species. Her father had left her mom when she was a few months old and hadn’t looked back. She and her mom scrapped by on what little they made waiting tables. Faith released Williams hands. She took a deep breath before she continued speaking.
“But seriously Will, you have to be less trusting. I’ve already had to bandage you up and make excuses to your parents about black eyes, fat lips and bloody noses. I don’t want to lose you. You’re really all I got ya know? I don’t know what I’d do if something was to happen to you.”
William leaned over and placed a kiss on his Faith’s cheek. If only I were straight. He thought again. “I’ll be more careful. I promise.” And it was a promise that he intended to keep. “But I really don’t think there is anything to worry your pretty little head over.” At the rather unconvinced look that his friend gave him, William continued. “Look, ducks. I’m supposed to meet him after school tomorrow at the park. Why don’t you come with me.”
Faith felt her wariness abate a little. William gave her his best pleading look.
Damned those eyes! “Alright!” she relented. “Alright! I’ll go.” She sat stood a bit straighter and shook her hair about her shoulders before snidely saying, “I want to meet this mysterious Lindsey .”
