Explanation Please

*Holy shit, I died... Now thats somethin to think about! So how come all I can think about is her hand holding me up?* Faith's skin was on fire, even through her wet clothes, where Jamie was holding her waist.

She concluded it must just be cos this *hott* chic had just saved her life, or technically, gave her a new one.

"So, what's in the bags J?" She had to get her mind off the situation, she didn't know what was comin over her.

"Oh not much, just all the crappy shit I've accumalated over my crappy life. Mostly clothes, shoes and tons o paper." It was then Faith noticed the two guitar shaped bags hanging from J's shoulder.

"Lemme guess, ya write songs?" *Cool, this chic sounds interesting.*

"Ya got me pegged girlfriend, I *try* to write songs. Have been as long as I can remember. It's just somethin that kinda takes me away from stupid boring reality sometimes." *Why is she lookin at me like that? She probably thinks I'm some soppy stupid little girl.*

Faith noticed the look of embarresment on the other girl's face. "I'd love to hear some sometime, that is, if ya wouldn't mind playin?"

Jamie's eyes lit up slightly and felt some kinda pride in her silly pastime. "Yeah I'd like that. So is there any chance your gonna gimme some semblance of an explanation please? About what just happened tonight?"

Faith didn't know what to say, or how to say it. This was Buffy's thing, telling the "Chosen One" story to all the hopefuls and potentials. But then again, Jamie wasn't a potential. Shs nos now a Slayer, the Chosen Third. So she did deserve somewhat of an explanation.

"Aight, but I'm not good with explanations but I'll try. Ok, so ya know that guy back there was a vampire. Well it's pretty obvious that they exist, them and a lot o things worse than them. Ya know, things that go bump in the night and shit? In one word, demons. And I was born to fight em, me and this other chic called Buffy. We're called vampire slayers. Usually there's one girl in every generation, in the whole world, chosen to fight the good fight against vampires and demons. And when she dies, the next one is called. Ya doin ok so far J?" Faith smirked at Jamie's shocked expression. She obviously wasn't expecting all that!

"Uh, yeah I think so. Holy shit, demons?! Like monsters and shit? Whoa, how come I never noticed before? alright, I'm good. So what does that have to do with me?"

"Right, that's what I was gettin to. See, Buffy was the first chosen slayer. But a few years a go she died for a minutes, just like I did tonight. And so another was called, so there were two, which is extremely unorthodox. Then, she died and I was called. And so, there were still two. And tonight, I died. You were called. And I came back, with a little help from you! So now, there are three. J? You don't look like your doin a good job of processing all this, ya ok?!"

Jamie had stopped, now stood motionless still holding onto Faith, but just a little tighter now. "Oh, um I'm good. Just gimme a sec here... So you're syain, I'm a, a slayer? Of vampires and demons and shit? And you and this Buffy chic are the same?" Faith nodded her head. "Ok, well this is interesting! And I thought my head was fucked up from gettin dumped and evicted! This tops that easy!" Both slayers laugh, slowly starting to walk again.

"So what happened with your girl, or ex-girl, anyway?" The newyer yer tried to hide her anger but it didn't work. Her eyes let Faith know the instant the other girl looked into her own.

"Ah no big really. Just thought this chic loved me but she didn't. Decided to cheat on me, right in front of me actually. And proceeded to throw me out. Story of my life, what can ya do?" Faith felt bad for the new slayer as she watched her lower her head and kick the dirt on the ground. She sympathised with her, this girl obviously led a life very similar to her own up until a few years ago. She smiled brightly, intent on cheering the beautiful girl up.

"Well that's gonna change now girlfriend. You're gonna live with us, be part of a family, kinda. Dunno if family's the right word to use, but ya get the jist right? You're a part of somethin big now, an important part. And I'll make sure you're taken care of, don't worry." She winked at the new slayer, giving her a dazzling smile.

Jamie felt warm, even with her sopping wet clothes and the breeze cutting through her. It was nice of the slayer to give her a home, support and friendship. She didn't have to. Jamie had learned in her life that nothing came for free. But she could tell this girl was genuine, no, she could feel it. She blushed unintentionally, slightly squeezing Faith to her in thanks.

"No one's ever been this nice to me before. You're not lookin for a girlfriend are ya Faith?!" She smiled sexily at the now blushing slayer, waiting for the embarressed stuttering to begin. Surprisingly, there was none.

"Not that I know of J. If you were to call me anything, you'd have to call me a trainee lesbian!" Jamie understood Faith's assumtion that she was gay. Hell she probably was. But she did have a point to make none the less.

"I'm not a lesbian Faith. I don't put name's to my relationships. I fall in love with who I fall in love with, gender has nothin to do with it. I look for the person inside, that's who I really fall for. What type of body ya have has nothin to do with who you are." *Point made. Fairly well too!*

Faith thought about that and came to the conclusion that she liked this girl. She knew what she was about, wasn't ashamed of it and she reminded her a helluva lot of herself. "Thats a damn good outlook ya got there J. I might just take up your belief system too!"

"Hehe, I'll be you mentor! You have much to learn, little grasshopper!" Both girls giggled and looked at each other for a long time, not knowing what else to do.
They continued their trek home as both girls simultaneously thought, *I can't wait to get to know this chic!*

*****

"You're wrong, you've got to be wrong.... No, she's not here but that's.... *Oh my god, this can't be happening.* What's her name? Fine. And you say she's right here, in this town?"

Through breaking sobs, The Chosen One tried to concentrate on the voice on the other end of the line. "If you're wrong I'm gonna fly to london and personnaly kick you stuffy, scone-filled ass!" She screamed the last few words of her closing sentence and slammed the phone down on the receiver.

Everyone in the room stared wide-eyed at the teary slayer, wondering what could possibly be wrong now. Buffy turns to face them, hating the words that fought through her lips.

"Faith's dead... There's a new slayer in town, again." Everyone sunk into their seats, trying to find a reaction, but no one did. Everyone just sat and stood, motionless.

Giles broke the miserable silence after a few minutes of disbelieving thought and stated the obvious. "We need to find this girl, before the bringers do."

Buffy just stood still, tears silently making their way down her cheeks. She didn't hear Giles' words until at least thirty seconds after they filled the room. She looked around, seeing everyone's sad eyes on her, waiting her official order to confirm giles' statement.

"Huh? Oh, uh right yeah. Kennedy, you Spike and Giles get on it. Hopefully we'll find her before there' another new one called..."

The said group nodded and made their way to the weapons room, stocked up on the necessities and left the house without a word.Willow approached the slayer, placing her hand on the teary-eyed girl.

"Do you wanna look for her?" Buffy look at her, her brow knit in confusion.

"For who? I've sent Kennedy and...."

"For Faith Buffy." The witche's voice was barely a whisper, but Buffy heard her.

She hadn't thought of that, looking for Faith's... She couldn't even think it. Body, Faith's body. *Oh god, if there's anything left of it.* She couldn't hold it in, she collapsed in Willow's shoulder and cryed her eyes out. It just wasn't fair. Karma trully was a bitch. Faith had just brought her life around, had finally put the past behind her. Buffy and the rogue slayer were finally friends again. and now she was gone, for good this time. This wasn't like prison, Faith wouldn't eventually come back into their lives. She was gone.
Buffy ceased her misery and nodded in agreement with Willow, who had surprisingly also started to cry. She wasn't the biggest Faith fan.

"You're right Will, we have to find her. We can't just leave her out there, all alone." Buffy shuddered at the thought, Faith lying alone and cold in some graveyard. They had to bring her home. But then, just as Buffy was reaching for her jacket to leave, the door opened slowly.

"You guys couldn't have found her already. What's going....." Buffy assumed that the tears in her eyes were the reason that "Faith" was standing in front of her.

Her thoughts were denied when she heard Willow scream "Faith!" and run into the very much alive slayer's arms and hug her tight.
