Dawn is gone
“Are you sure she didn’t come back here?” Buffy asked her mother.
“I’m positive honey. I was waiting for both of you.” Joyce said softly. Tears rolled silently down her cheeks. “Glory’s got her. I know it.”
“Mom. Mom…please…just stay here. I’ll find her. I’m gonna go and talk to the gang. See how we can stop this thing.

“What do we know? I mean I Glo Glory has her but…”
“Um, according to these scrolls, it is possible for Glory to be stopped. I'm afraid it's um... Buffy, I've read these very carefully. There's not much margin for error. Do you understand what I'm saying?”
“Might help if you actually said it.”
“Glory plans to open a dimensional portal by way of ritual bloodletting.”
“Dawn's blood?”
“Yes. Once the blood is shed at a certain time and place, the fabric which separates all realities will be ripped apart. Dimensions will pour into one another with no barriers to stop them. Reality as we know it will be destroyed, and chaos will reign on Earth.”
“So how do we stop it?”
“The portal will only close once the blood is stopped. And the only way for that to happen is ... Buffy, the only way is to kill Dawn.”
“Pretty simple math, here. We stop Glory before she can start the ritual. We still a couple of hours, right?”
“If my calculations are right, but Buffy” Giles tried to reason with her.
“I don't want to hear it.” Buffy said firmly
“I understand that.” Giles said.
“No you don't understand! We are *not* talking about this!” Buffy replied.
“Yes we bloody well are!” Giles yelled. “If Glory begins the ritual... If we can't stop her ...” He said calmly.
“Come on. Say it. We're *bloody well* talking about this! Tell me to kill my sister.” Buffy fumed
“She's not your sister.” Giles said angrily.
“No. She's not. She's more than that. She's me. The Monks made her out of me. I hold her and I feel closer to her than... It's not just the memories they built, it's physical. Dawn is a part of me. The only part that I...” Buffy sobbed silently and quickly got a hold of herself.
“We'll solve this. We will. Don't have another coma, okay?” Willow said softly.
“If the ritual starts, every living creature in this and every other dimension imaginable will suffer unbearable torment and death. *Including* Dawn.” Giles said softly.
“Then the last thing she'll see is me protecting her.” Buffy said softly.
“You'll fail. You'll die. We all will.” Giles said defiantly.

They followed Tara to the ritual spot at the tower.
No one noticed Spike following them.
“Buffy…I’m up here.” Dawn screamed.
“I’m coming Dawn” Buffy yelled smashing Glory with the hammer and getting past her. She ran for the tower and Glory was right behind her pulling her down the stairs.

“You... you can you help me? Untie me ... Please help me... she's coming...” Dawn begged
“Well she seems to be running late, is the thing. And if her Splendidness can't be here in time to bleed you ...” Doc leaned in conspiratorially and whispered “Hey, kid... wanna see a trick?”

“Well, what do you know? It's just about that time.” Doc smiled taking a step closer to Dawn.
“SPIKE!” Dawn screamed at seeing him. “You stayed. I knew you would.”
“Doesn't a fellow stay dead when you kill him?” Spike asked Doc conversationally. He looked at Dawn and gave her a quick wink.
“Look who's talking.” Doc said snidely.
“Come on, Doc. Let's you and me have a go.” Spike said threateningly taking a step closer to Doc.
“I do have a prior appointment...” Doc shrugged.
“This won't take long.” Spike growled
“No! I don't imagine it will.” Doc smiled evilly and took a step towards Spike. Spike grabbed Doc’s knife and turned it on him stabbing it in just below his belly. He pulled up and sliced him wide-open spilling b and and guts everywhere.
Doc grabbed Spike’s duster and they both hurled off the tower towards the earth.
“No! No! Spike!” She screamed sobbing.

“You're just a mortal... you couldn't understand my pain.” Glory cried,
“I guess I'll have to settle for causing it.” Buffy said viciously slamming the troll hammer into Glory’s face
“You can't kill me...”
“No... But my arm's not even tired yet.”
“Stop it...” Glory whined
“You're a god...” Buffy hammered her again. “MAKE it stop.” Buffy kept pounding on her.
“I'm sorry...” Glory morphed into Ben.
“Tell her it's over. She missed her shot. She goes. She ever -- EVER -- comes near me and mine again...” Buffy said vehemently.
“We won't. I swear.” Ben said softly.
Buffy dropped the hammer and headed for the tower. She heard Dawn’s scream and saw Spike fall to the earth crushing Dock beneath him. ~ He didn’t leave? ~ She thought to herself. ~ He stayed. And saved Dawn again. ~ She ran up the tower to help Dawn.

“Guess we're stuck with each other, huh baby?” Ben said to Glory.
“Can you move?” Giles asked him
“Need... a minute. She could have killed me.” Ben said softly.
“No she couldn't. Never. And sooner or later, Glory will re-emerge and make Buffy pay for that mercy, and the world with her. Buffy even knows that, and still she couldn't take a human life. She's a hero, you see. She's not like us.” Giles said looking into Ben’s eyes.
“Us?” Ben asked confused.
Giles didn’t say another word. He silently suffocated Ben.

“Dawn…honey are you Ok?” Buffy asked reaching her side.
“Did you see Spike? Is he ok? Buffy is he gonna be Ok? He saved my life. That Doc guy was gonna…he had a knife and he…” Tears were pouring down Dawn’s face.
“Let’s go Dawn…Glory won’t bother us again.” Buffy said softly gathering Dawn into her arms.
“Buffy…what about S?” D?” Dawn asked.
They had reached the bottom of the tower and Dawn saw Spike lying unmoving on the ground. She broke free of Buffy’s embrace and ran to his side. She knelt down beside him. “Spike? Can you hear me? Spike? You saved my life…” Dawn whispered laying her hand on his cheek.
Spike didn’t move. “Dawn come on we have to go…mom’s freaking out…she needs to see you….” Buffy said softly placing her hand on Dawn’s shoulder.
“I am not going to leave him her Buffy. He saved my life…. Again. I …can we take him home? To our house? Please Buffyt unt until he …gets better?” Dawn begged.
“Ok but we’ve got to move now.” Buffy said softly. She got Giles and Xander to carry him. Dawn was so worked up that Xander didn’t even make a comment. They carried the unconscious Vampire to Buffy’s house.

“Dawn oh…baby you’re alright. Thank you Buffy.” Joyce said tears of happiness flowing freely.
“I didn’t save her mom. Spike did.” Buffy said softly.
“Oh my what happened to Spike?” She asked noticing him being carried By Giles and Xander.
“He saved my life mom. He got hurt pretty bad. I need to make sure he’s ok.” Dawn said softly.
“Ok bring him in. We can put him on the cot in the basement.” Joyce said ushering them all inside. “Buffy could you make up the cot?” Joyce asked. Buffy quickly grabbed some linens and made a bed for him. Giles and Xander carried him downstairs and laid him on the bed.
Buffy watched silently as Dawn went over and tucked him in, making him as comfortable as possible. “Thank you.” Dawn whispered leaning over to kiss him softly on the forehead.
