“When I staked him with a plastic steak ok? Fuck! I knew you would go after her.” Riley looked Spike and then back at Buffy “Buffy…is…did he put you under a spell?” Riley asked concerned.

“Riley get the fuck out of my town…you ever show your face here again…I swear I will hurt you. Not hugs and puppies hurt either I will fucking hurt you so bad you’ll wish you were never born.” Buffy said venomously, clenching and unclenching her jaw.

“Buffy how can you stand there and defend that…thing.” Riley questioned fury in his voice. ~I am so gonna kill that fucking Vampire. I can get Sam to help me. ~

Buffy tried to pull her hand out of Spike’s grip but he held on. Spike pulled her closer and whispered softly into her ear “Not worth it Luv…he may be a wanker but he’s still human.”

Buffy relaxed into his embrace. “You’re right Spike. Thanks” She said softly to him. “Riley…goodbye.” She shook her head sadly.

“I leave you and this is what you do?” Riley shouted.

“Riley?” Questioned a tall woman with mousy brown hair.

“In here Sam.” He said turning to the doorway. “Sam this is Buffy…and Spike.”

“The Slayer” Sam said looking Buffy up and down, causing a low growl to emanate from deep in Spike’s chest.

“Who the hell is this Riley?” Buffy asked

“This is my Wife Sam…I had to tell her about you. After all we were chasing Suvolte
Demons and I needed your help. We need your help.” Riley whined.

“You came here with your new Wife? Asking for MY help? After what you did to me? Get the hell out.” y say said grinding her teeth.

“This is not over Buffy…I know he’s done something to you ….I will find out, and I will get you out of his clutches. I swear I will.”

“Riley I meant what I said. I will hurt you. I don't want to but I will. Now leave.” Buffy said angrily.

Riley took one last look at her and walked out of her house. ~ Lets just see if your friends approve of this little situation you’ve gotten yourself into miss high and mighty Buffy the Vampire layer. ~ Thought Riley with disgust.

“Giles…” Riley said walking in to the Magic Box. “Giles there you are we need to talk.” Riley said motioning at Sam to take a seat.

“What is going on Riley?” Giles asked taking off his glasses and pulling out a handkerchief.

“It’s Buffy…I think she’s under a spell or something like last time.” Riley said with a pained expression. ~ Ha Buffy you Bitch. Didn’t know I could act did you? You are so gonna get what you deserve. ~ Riley thought trying to keep the pained expression on his face.

“Like last time what?” Xander questioned with worry in his voice. ~ Please not Will’s my will be done spell. God please ~ Xander thought cringing at the memory. “Well do you remember when she thought she was engaged to Spike?” Riley asked. ~ Ha. You guys thought Buffy never told me. She did. ~

“Uh…Yeah that was kinda my fault.” Willow said meekly.

“Well what the hell did you do to her now Willow? She thinks Spike is her boyfriend.” Riley said disgustedly.

“Hey you watch how you talk to Willow Riley. I might have to kick your ass.” Xander said angrily.

“I’m sorry, everyone wants to kick my ass. I’m just worried about Buffy. I…Want to know what happened to her. I won’t leave Sunnydale until I find out. Me and my Wife Sam will stay at the hotel. Will you call me Giles when you’ve talked some sense into her? She was really angry at me.” Riley said sadly.

“You brought your wife? To ask for Buffy’s help? After you left her like you did? For the reasons that you did? And you expect her not to be wiggy?” Willow asked incredulous. “I’d probably start dating my mortal enemy too. At least then you’d know what to expect. You’ve seen their worst.” Willow said defiantly. ~ Smug Bastard. ~ Willow thought to herself looking at Riley with disdain.

“Look, I realize I am not wanted here but I care about Buffy. I just want to know she’s safe ok?” Riley asked pretending to be sincere. “Just tell me you’ll call me and I’ll get out of your hair.

“Hello?” Buffy said picking up the phone on the third ring.

“Buffy? I have to talk to you can you come to the Shop?”

“Uhh is this another apocalypse? Cause you know it’s kinda early…” Buffy joked.

“Buffy this is serious…”

“It always is Giles so what’s the Big Bad now?” She asked.

“It’s not really…it doesn’t …it’s personal Buffy…I …we had a visitor here and …”

“Was it Riley and his new wife?”

“Buffy he…he said that..I think he’s trying to get us mad at you he said that Spike…”

“Spike is my boyfriend?”

“Well yes that is what he said…although I don’t put much stock in what he said especially after everything that has happened between you. I just…wanted you to know he’s”

“It’s ok Giles…Spike is my Boyfriend” Buffy replied. “I didn’t want to tell you this way but…Spike loves me…I mean he really loves me.” Buffy said happily.

“But Buffy Spike is an evil soulless demon. He is not capable of that kind of feeling. He could not possibly understand what it means to love some”

“s.” s.” Buffy cut him off. “It’s real. He loves me. I love him. End of story. This is what it takes for me to be happy. You’ll just have to understand.” Buffy said firmly.

“But Buffy what if he gets the chip out? What if..”

“I’m tired of living my life on what if’s Giles. Besides Spike’s chip doesn’t work on me anymore,” Buffy said smugly.

“What?” Giles shouted, “What do you mean his chip stopped working? Buffy you put us all in danger.”

“Giles, if Spike wanted to he could have killed any of you all summer, by not being there, letting you take on the demons by yourselves. He stuck around even after I died to help you and to take care of Dawn, so he does care about you guys. He had no idea they were even gonna try to to bring me back. He could have killed me if he wanted to…last night when I found out he could hit me I tempted him into it…and he refused. I almost forced him to bite me and he wouldn’t do it. Giles he’s a good man. If you look you will see it too. Please, it’s been hard enough for me…since I was pulled out of…heaven …don’t make it harder.”

“I don’t like this Buffy, but it is your choice, I could never stop you from making your decisions but I can and will let it be known I am not happy about it.” Giles said. Buffy could almost hear him polishing his glasses.

“Giles, I know you don’t like it. I can understand after the whole Angel fiasco, but it’s different with Spike. He won’t ever leave my side. Until he’s dust he will be there for me. I need that. I need him. I hope that one day…I hope you can accept that. The council was wrong Giles; we know their demons out there that are good. Maybe some vampires can be good too. Just think about it please. ”

“I hope so too Buffy. For your sake. I will try I promise you that. I will try to accept this.”

“Thank you Giles, that’s all I can ask.”

“What did the watcher say?” Spike asked coming into the livingroom with a steaming plate for Buffy.

“Mmmm chicken stir fry? I didn’t know you could cook.” Buffy smiled at him taking the plate from him.

“There’s a lot about me that would surprise you Slayer.” Spike smirked at her. “Now quit avoiding the question. What did your watcher say?”

They were interrupted by Dawn entering the house “Buffy? Buffy…”

“In here Dawn.” Buffy said smiling.

“Oh there you are. Hmm whatcha eating?” Dawn questioned looking into Buffy’s plate.

“Spike made me some stir fry.” Buffy smiled.

“Yummy I know Spike can cook deliciously. Is there any left? It smells soooo good.” Dawn asked giving Spike her puppy dog eyes.

“Thought I told you no with the eyes Niblet?” Spike said with a smirk “I’ll go get you some.” Spike said going into the kitchen.

“So…what’s Spike doing here in the daylight with no threat of staking? You actually look happy Buffy…so spill.” Dawn said knowingly.

“Well Dawn you know how I was always saying Spike couldn’t possibly love me?”

“Yeah…I tried to tell you otherwise.”

“I know you did Dawnie, but I really thought he couldn’t love. The council and everything….”

“Thanks Spike” Dawn said as he passed her a plate and took a seat beside Buffy on the couch.

Dawn raised her eyebrows at that but said nothing. She continued to say nothing as Spike gently caressed Buffy’s shoulder.

“Anyways…” Buffy continued “I realized last night that he really does love me...”
Buffy was interrupted by Dawn’s squeal of delight.

“So…you’re giving him a chance?” Dawn questioned bouncing in her seat.

“No I’m giving us a chance…you see I realized I am in love with him too…I was just to…messed up and scared to realize it, let alone admit it.” Buffy sighed. ~ Now that I have I’m so much happier. ~

“So what happened last night to change your mind? Dawn questioned. ~ Oh my god. That’s why I stayed at Tara’s last night. THEY HAD SEX ~ Dawn’s eyes widened comically.

“We found out Spike could hurt me, hit me, bite whatever. And he refused to…I tried to make him but he said no.”

“Only thing I’d ever deny you Slayer.” Spike said pulling Buffy in for a hug and inhaling her scent. “I love you to much to ever let you die again. ~ Mmm my perfectly yummy Slayer. ~

“Wow. That’s so awesome….my best friend and my sister.” Dawn couldn’t get the grin off of her face. “I say we go Bronzing and celebrate.” Dawn said bouncing again.

“Dawnie…I don’t know how the Scoobies are gonna react to this so…”

“Buffy, they’ll have to get used to it sometime…and we’ll both be there. Better to see their reaction when you are there and can intervene. You know it would be better that way then if Spike was alone right? He’s defenseless against humans.”

“Yeah…I …I’m just nervous. I’ll be fine. Bronzing it is then.” Buffy replied happily.

Dawn was sitting at the table with Spike and Buffy. ~ That is so cute. They’re holding hands. ~ Dawn thought happily.

“Buffy.” Willow said walking up to the table. “Hear you got yourself a new boyfriend.” Willow teased grinning at her friend.

“Yeah. I do…are you ok with that? With who it is I mean?” Buffy asked shyly.

“I’m fine with what ever you decide Buffy. I think Spike is great for you. You actually want to live now…instead of just going through the motions, living moment to moment. You have things you want to do now…”

“Yeah I do…How did Xander take the news?” Buffy cringed. Spike placed a gentle hand on her lower back and she visibly relaxed.

“Well at first he wasn’t too keen on the whole thing, but then we all started reminding him of all the good Spike has done and he grudgingly accepted it. I think he’ll be ok with it if we don’t push the issue.” Willow finished with a big sigh. ~ As long as Spike behaves himself. ~ Willow thought.

“Hey guys what’s up?” Xander asked when him and Anya arrived at the table. Buffy moved closer to Spike to make room for them. And they all sat in uncomfortable silence for a few minutes. “Hey Spike wanna go shoot some stick and leave thdiesdies to some wedding planing?” Xander asked.

“Sure.” Spike shrugged nonchalantly. ~ I hope the whelp doesn’t try to steak me…I don’t want Buffy to have to hurt him. ~

Spike and Xander made their way to the pool table. “Spike…I …wanna play for beers?” Xander asked ~ Crap why can’t I just say what’s on my mind? Cause I don’t want to be the one to hurt Buffy. Gotta let her make her own decisions. ~ “Spike please promise me…that you won’t hurt Buffy.” Xander said quietly. ~ Crap Can’t keep my big mouth shut. ~

“Xander I’d rather walk into sunlight unprotected than hurt her. I love her. With all my undead heart.” Spike said passionately.

“Ok as long as we’re on the same page.” Xander said with a smirk “Now let’s get playing.” Xander said with glee rubbing his hands together.

“Sure anything for you Buffy.” Frank the bartender said letting her up on stage.
As the familiar beat blasted on the speakers Buffy took center stage. A spotlight silhouetted her form. “Hi there. I’ve always wanted to do this, and I’d like to dedicate this song to my boyfriend Spike.” Buffy said into the microphone.

Spike’s head shot up and he met Buffy’s gaze as she started in with the lyrics

Buffy finished her song and Spike met her as she came off stage. “God you are an amazing woman Buffy.” He said grabbing her in a bone-crushing hug.

“I love you Spike.” Buffy said leaning in for a kiss. “You gave me the courage to do that. I wanted you and everyone else to know how much.” Buffy said softly staring dreamily into his eyes.

Neither the awe-struck Scoobies nor the couple in love saw the pair of army brats watching them with piqued interest.
