Visionary Kiss II Part 23
INT./EXT. CONVERTIBLE - STREETS - NIGHT
The convertible slowly motored down the narrowed alleys. Jonathan, Evelyn and O'Connell were sitting in the front and, on the back was Ardeth Bay and the Curator.
All of them were staring out thent wnt windshield, more than just a little freaked-out. The fear and shock about the entire situation was finally hitting them in full force.
Suddenly one of the pet zombies crashed through the windshield.
Everybody screamed and Jonathan hit the gas, but lost control and the car slammed into a wall.
Not needing to think, or even able to do so, Rick grabbed hold of Evelyn's arm.
"C'mon! C'mon! Let's go! Let's go!"
They all leaped out of the car with the hope thatbe tbe there still was a chance to get away, only to be stopped by the angry, festering mob that quickly surrounded them.
Rick reached into his gunnysack and pulled out a match. He looked around for a way to light it, only to reach over and strike it across Ardeth Bay's stubbled face.
Bay yelped, something that not only shocked himself, even some of the zombiut iut in the mob looked wide-eyed at him as well.
O'Connell ignored the whole thing as the lit match touched the fuse. The crazed, chanting people gave Rick a wide berth, staring at him and the others with insane looks and bloodshot eyes.
EXT. BAZAAR - NIGHT
Willow looked into the now sane looking eyes of Imhotep. Finally he had consumed the curse, maybe now would be the time to try to talk to him about the insane plan to bring back Anck-su-namun.
"Imhotep, you have to stop it. there is no reason to kill this innocent. You remember everything. I can see it in your eyes, you remember what I told you."
The man looked at the woman that had once been a slave; a slave that had told him that all this would happen, and yet he had not believed her. But he also remembered what she had told him about his love.
"Yes, I remember everything, I even remember that you wanted me to forget my love. But I will not do this; she is waiting for me, and I can feel her call to me. I have to bring her back, and if that means to kill all these people I will do it! If this means I to kill all of mankind, I will do it!"
He turned and walked the way that he knew would lead him to the woman that was the key to Anck-su-namun, only to be stopped by a small warm hand on his arm.
"I can't believe that you still want to bring her back. You know now that I've been sent by the mother herself; the goddess herself knows that this love is wrong. I know you love her, and I know how horrible it is to lose the one person that is your world."
"Not even the goddess will stop me from bringing back Anck-su-namun!"
Again he started to walk away, but was hit by an energy ball on his back.
He turned, with his eyes pinched together, "Don't try to stop me woman, or I will kill you."
"You can't kill me, but if you do not stop with this insanity you will be back in your Grave lost to the world. not near your little love."
Willow knew she was losing it, losing him to this bitch. Could a man this old and intelligent be a bigger blockhead?" I know that she was good when it came to sex, but you can't tell me that thisn\isn't a small part in your heart that knows that this is wrong? Something deep inside you that knows she only loved what you were, but not who you were? There is this little part that wanted her to leave with you, and also that little part that knew she would never leave the palace and the gold and her Position."
For a short moment she could see something in his eyes, she had hit the sore point. She now only needed the time to let him boil in his own juices.
But she had no time.
Imhotep shook his head; he should not be listening to her words. she knew nothing about Anck-su-namun, or the love they shared.
And then he remembered his vision, the dead girl. Was she the love, the love she had lost. could she understand that being without Anck-su-namun 'was' death?
He looked deep into those black eyes, but they held nothing, and he reached out with his hand and touched the witch's face.
Willow's eyes turned back to the green he already knew, and now he could see straight into her soul, "Maybe 'you' can understand what I feel; and maybe you will be the only one that understands why I do all this."
INT./EXT. CONVERTIBLE - STREETS - NIGHT
The small group waited for the mob to attack, but it never happened. instead Imhotep stepped through, now fully regenerated he looked just as young, handsome and muscular as he was the day he had been buried alive.
Evelyn stared at him, to see Willow only a few steps behind him.
"He's gorgeous."
This made the redhead smile," Yes he is; too bad he is a little. let's call it stupid."
O'Connell gave Evey a look as the match burned his fingers. How she could think about things along the lines like 'gorgeous' was incomprehensible to him at a time like this.
He yelped just like Bay had done minutes ago and threw the match down, to gab a new one and again strikes it across Ardeth Bay's face.
Ardeth Bay this time stopped him and gave Rick a look that could kill.
The Curator moved a little to the side, shaking his head.
"He has consummated the curse, now all he needs to do is raise Anck-su-namun from the dead; then it will be the end for us. and the beginning for them."
Imhotep moved forward, heading right for them, so Rick lit the fuse.
Not impressed, the high priest stepped over to O'Connell and stopped; watching the fuse burn down.
A game of chicken.
The tension increased.
The lit fuse was about to vanish inside the stick of dynamite, blowing it up, when Evelyn leaned forward and blew it out.
Rick exhaled, but kept his eyes on Imhotep, who extended his hand to Evelyn.
"Koontash dai na."
Beni stepped through the swarming mass, translating.
"Take his hand and he will spare the others."
Willow looked at Evelyn and rolled her eyes; it was really time for the little bug to die.
Evey hesitated, looking around at the huge, bloodthirsty crowd surrounding them holding axes, picks and scimitars, waiting to pounce; then she looked at Imhotep, confident, powerful, invincible.
She was in big trouble and she knew it. For the second time she looked at her friend, the other woman waited for her to say the things they both knew she would say.
Evelyn turned and looked at O'Connell.
"Any bright ideas?"
Rick talked through angry, gritted teeth, "Sorry, fresh out."
Her eyes back at Imhotep, she started to reach out and take his hand.
Both O'Connell and Jonathan moved to stop her, but Ardeth Bay took hold of both not letting go.
"Don't do it, Evelyn."
"I have no choice."
Evelyn's trembling hand touched Imhotep's, and his hand closed around hers.
Nothing happened.
And Imhotep smiled.
"Keetah mi pharos, aja nilo, isirlan."
"Come with me my princess. It is time to make you mine, forever."
Evelyn gave Beni a nasty look, ready to correct him, only to learnt Wit Willow was doing it.
The witch smacked his head pretty hard, "All eternity, you idiot."
This made Evelyn able to turn to Rick with a smile on her face, "You better think of something, because if he turns me into a mummy, your the first one I'm coming after."
"Got guts, lady."
"Yes, I know, and I'd like to keep them."
Imhotep, out of the corner of his eye, noticed something, He reached forward and ripped the key/box out of Jonathan's upper jacket pocket.
"Hey that's mine--!"
Bay again had to hold back Jonathan. and then he had to hold both men as Imhotep pulled Evey away.
O'Connell couldn't take it anymore, and he tried to break free of Ardeth Bay's grip.
"Evelyn!"
The huge, powerful man held him tight.
"Be calm, there is still time. We can stop him yet."
Willow moved in front of Rick, her hand touching his checks to make him look into her eyes, "Do you remember that I told you I would be able to save her if you trusted me?"
He could only nod, bound by her eyes and the honesty in them.
"I will take care of her, but I can only do it if you take care of yourself and the others." Now she looked at Bay, "You know where you will find us. I will not stop him, you know that I can't; but I will take care that you will be able to do so."
Jonathan, Rick and Bay could see the unshed tears in her eyes as she told them all this, and then she closed down. her eyes turning black and hiding all her emotion.
It was scary.
The crowd parted for Imhotep and Evelyn. And then Imhotep stopped and looked back at Rick.
"Pared oos."
