Developments
Skye ran through the brush, bound and determined to leave the property and lose Asher. Over the last few weeks it had become a game of sorts, she would sneak out and some how her ‘nephew’ who was more like a brother would some how know and track her down. Some days catching her before she got off the property sometimes after.
How he always knew when and how she was leaving she didn’t know. She had changed and rechanged her route off the property countless times.
Turning back she didn’t see him, didn’t hear him but she knew he was there. Sprinting faster she questioned herself once again on the wisdom of this. Seriously Ryan hadn’t made any move or indication that she even wanted to see her. But she kept going back anyway.
It made no sense at all to Skye but she just knew she had to see her, something inside her urged her to get as close to the tiger as she could. And that voice was getting louder and more and more persistent.
Not bothering to turn when she heard branches crunch behind her she just sped up. She would get there tonight. The fever was getting worse and she didn’t know how much longer she could hold it off. Leaping up to the fence she grasped the iron spikes at the top, bracing herself to launch over when she felt her body slam heavily into the wall when Asher finally caught her.
Gasping when the breathe was driven out of her she tightened her grasp on the spikes, infuriated she snarled at the tall man as he braced his feet on the wall and was using all his weight to pull her off the wall. Suddenly a fiery rage filled her and she jerked to the right and sunk her fangs into his arm that was wrapped around her shoulder. When the first burst of blood fill her mouth she spat it out which proved harder than she thought it would be when she refused to loosen her grip.
When she bit own harder causing him to yelp she jerked her head back and thrust herself back forcing them both onto the hard ground. Rolling over she snarled and began circling him, rational thought was long gone as she watched Asher roll onto all fours and watch her calmly. His eyes glowed yellow and he flashed his fangs at her. She could sense the change was close on him, fur had sprung up across his face and his arms and chest were covered. The dark jeans he wore tightened when his muscles shifted and grew.
Snarling she rushed him and tackled him to the ground. Desperately looking for any sort of opening she snarled and snapped at him, yelping when she felt him bite her side and claw her thigh. Snarling with renewed rage she pulled back and struck him across the face with her open palm. Watching his face whip to the left as four long stripes bled freely she felt her wolf instincts envelope her when she pushed him back and turned back to the fence and leapt over the tall structure.
Landing on the other side she turned up the street and ran, bursting into renewed speed when she heard the other males that had been hanging around the property ever since her fever had set in start moving towards her.
Sprinting she pulled off her shirt and bra, slowing only long enough to get her pants off and throw them into the bushes and she evaded a big were’ long enough to changed and cut through the forest, this was farther than she had ever gotten.
Feeling downright thrilled at the prospect she broke through the trees and yelped when she felt a sharp sting in her thigh. Dropping she looked down to see a feathered tranquilizer dart. Snarling as Asher emerged from the trees holding the long rifle she felt the effects and slumped down.
Sighing Asher shouldered the weapon and walked up to the younger wolf, crouching down he ignored the pain from the bites and scratches. Turning he snarled at the lone werewolves that were closing in on them. Standing he quickly took the rifle and aimed at the closest before firing off another dart, watching as they left.
They were getting harder and harder to ward off, he knew her fever was worsening and knew even though it wasn’t his place that he needed to inform Raya that Skye had hit her fever and if her determination was any sort of sign it was getting worse.
It made sense she would instinctively go to the only available skin walker in the area but he didn’t know why it had to be the tiger, she could easily take care of the fever with a were’ but who was he to judge. Bending down he picked up the girl and threw her over his shoulder and walked back to the road.
No one knew of the silent nightly competition between the two, he knew Andy knew something was up but his mate wouldn’t say anything until Asher offered it. Sighing he drew out his key card and ran it over the lock of the hidden door in the gate. One of the many escape routes the campus had installed over the years.
Securing the door once more he continued through the trees to return Skye to her home before daylight and more importantly before his grandmother and his mate returned from slaying.

Lonnie groaned softly, feeling as though she was lying under heavy stones as she groggily opened her eyes. Wincing at the brightness of the room she turned away and looked away. As her vision cleared Lonnie had the distinct impression she was dead.
She barely remembered much after Old mother stabbed her a third time and struck her across the head with her club. She remembered flashes and Buffy. Buffy crying?
Was she really dead? Trying to sit up she bit her lip in pain, nope defiantly alive. Laying her hand down beside her she felt something ‘in’ it…looking down she saw what looked like a long rope that was held in her hand by a tiny needle. Holding it up to her face she felt a rising wave of panic, looking around frantically she saw the small form of Jaeger sleeping on a strange small structure.
“Jaeger” Lonnie winced at the dry scratchy feeling in her throat. Clearing her throat she called again” Jaeger, wake up.”
Watching as the girl stirred and looked over at her, smiling at the expression of pure joy and relief wash over her child she motioned for the girl to come over to her. Watching as the child came and pulled herself up onto the sleeping mat Lonnie was laid out on.
“How are you feeling?” Lonnie smiled at the nervous tone in her Childs voice.
“Strange…where are we?” Lonnie asked, concerned more than anything when the child chewed her lip and opened and shut her mouth once, twice before taking a deep breath.
“Were in Mommys land. Mommy says she is from a place like this, many days travel.”
“…where is mommy?” Jaeger turned and pointed to a large wooden entrance.
“She went to get food for Axel and me.” Jaeger looked down thoughtfully. “Do we have to stay here Mama?” Lonnie furrowed her brow, her head felt like stone, her mouth like a desert and she had no idea where they were.
“Well I need to talk to Mommy first but well see. Do you like it here?”
“Yeah it’s alright, just everything’s so loud and it smells bad and they got the funniest skins.” Lonnie leaned back and listened as her child regaled her with tales of things she was sure were the product of an overactive imagination…that is until they both nearly jumped out of there skins when a small stone began ringing and making a noise similar to a dying rabbit.
“What is that Jaeger?” Lonnie stared at the contraption, unsure whether or not she should kill it.
“Mommy called it a…talafon. She says that’s how people talk to each other.” Lonnie looked over at her child disbelieving. Jaegers eyes widened “It’s true, ask her yourself when she’s back that thing goes off ALL the time. Its stupid and the medicine woman yelled at mommy when I killed it yesterday.”
Lonnie smiled at the forlorn expression on Jaegers face, looking over at the entrance when she saw Buffy step through carrying a tray of assorted fruits and small colorful boxes. Looking down she smiled as she watched Axel follow closely behind her, he was wearing a strange looking pale loincloth with small pictures on it. Who would put pictures on a child’s loincloth?
Smiling up at her mate she whispered a hello and a smile at the stunned expression on her mates face.
“You’re awake. Oh my god Lonnie I was so worried.” Lonnie frowned at the foreign words. When Buffy saw this she repeated in Lonnie’s tongue, setting down the tray and walking over to her mate she leaned down and kissed her softly.
“How do you feel?” Buffy asked. Lonnie smiled wearily and shrugged.
“Like I fell down a mountain. Were in your homeland now?” Buffy nodded.
“I’m sorry, I know our home was in the village but it was the only way to save you.” Lonnie frowned softly. It was forbidden for them to return now, and no matter she didn’t wish to return without meeting Buffy’s people.
“Where are your people? And what’s this in my hand?” Lonnie held up her hand, frowning at Buffy’s patient smile.
“My people are across the great waters and when your better well go to them and that’s called a…well I don’t know the word in this language but it’s called an ‘IV…it helps keep water in your system.” Lonnie rolled the foreign word over in her mind.
This place was definitely strange…she looked over at the two children and smiled tiredly at the pair, watching as they were tearing into eh food with vigor. Leaning back she looked up at her mate, she looked different…thinner. Her eyes had dark circles under them and her face and body was tense.
“Relax Buffy. Every thing will be okay.” Buffy smiled and leaned over and kissed her mates forehead and watched patiently as the woman dozed off.
