“Yes we. Me, myself and I.” Xander answered confused at Spikes panicky look.
“Spike what’s wrong?” Xander got up and crouched down in front of Spike reaching out gently to touch his face.
Spike reached up and grabbed Xanders hand.
“Pet, your referring to yourself in multiples and saying your not possessed.” Spike explained gently so as not to frighten the boy.
“Oh that, Spike I’ve already explained that haven’t I?” Xander said perching on the arm of the chair.
“I don’t think so pet.”
“Oh sorry I’m so used to them it’s hard to think about what I’ve told you and what I’ve forgotten to mention.”
Xander looked over at Blair lying on the bed.
“When I was possessed I got to keep the memories of the Hyena and the Solider but unlike the others when Giles did the spell to remove the Hyena it didn’t quite work right. She stayed and that’s how I have access to her instincts. The others just remember things but I actually feel them. It’s the same with the solider. Giles thinks the Hyena stayed because she was Alpha and stronger than the others and because of her a copy of the soldier’s personality stayed as well.” Xander explained. “They both keep pretty much to themselves in here but once or twice they have taken over when I can’t deal with something. Every time they’ve done that they end up saving someone’s life so I don’t stop them just tell Giles so he can keep an eye on it.” Xander looked back at Spike. “The thing is we are slowly merging into one personality. Giles thinks this is why I’m getting so much stronger and my senses are also increasing in strength. He also thinks that’s why the senses are getting more out of control. Giles thinks that if things carry on the way they are I’m going to go insane from the sensory overload. Ultimately you will have an insane person with the strength of a slayer on your hands if Giles is right. When that happens or when my judgement is impaired by my senses you and Oz will take over the Children.”
“What will happen to you pet?” Spike asked.
“Me? I’ll take care of that when the time comes.” Xander said softly before getting to his feet striping off until he was dressed only in his boxer shorts and moving to lie down on the sofa. “I’m going to have a nap wake me if Blair wakes up would you?”
“Sure pet.” Spike said absentmindedly.
Slowly it dawned of Spike what Xander meant by ‘Taking care of it when the time came’ The whelp intended to kill himself before he went too insane and had to be put in a mental institute or killed but his friends.
Spike didn’t like the idea of losing Xander, the very idea made him even more determined to find some kind of solution to Xanders sensory problems.
