IN THE STREETS ON THE WAY TO THE EGYPTOLOGIST'S OFFICE - DAY FOR NIGHT
"Jonathan go back and get your Gun." Rick not even stopped walking, while he gave this order.
Willow knew that it was not about the Gun, they needed to talk and she was glad that he had decided that it would be better to talk to each other without the other man.
They walked around the next corner, "What are you?"
The Redhead only smiled at O'Connell, she herself had no clue what she was.
"That's a question I'm not sure of the answer. But maybe it will help if I tell you what I was. I was a girl, then I was a witch, for a short time a monster.."
"Stop playing I know there is more and we don't have the time for games. I will not watch this thing kill.."
Willow reached out, "I don't play, I know that it will be hard for you but trust me if I promise you this. Evey will not die. I will not let her, Jonathan or you die."
"But you not stopped him. If you are able to stop him, you need to do it." Rick had grabbed her arms and was now pushing her against the wall, bringing her eye-to-eye with himself.
Only weeks ago he would have laughed, if somebody would have said that there were walking, even killing mummy's and now he not even had doubted that this woman was a witch.
"I'm here to save Imhotep. Not to save this poor souls, that made the Decision to walk strait into the arms of death for gold and money. I wanted you to know that I will be here and do my best, but you need to understand that I can save Evelyn if you trust me."
They were stopped by Jonathan that rounded the corner, both aware of the fact that maybe this was for the best.
THE EGYPTOLOGIST'S OFFICE - DAY FOR NIGHT
Beni was ransacking the joint, pulling out drawers and files only to throw them onto the floor. He finally found a silver pocket watch, shook it, then threw it into his pocket, to again start working his way over the bookcases and shelves.
"Well, well, well. See what we have found." Beni spun around. O'Connell and Jonathan standing in the door, not to forget only a few steps away the redhead.
"Lemme guess, spring cleaning?"
Beni turned and ran for an open window, to be stopped by a chair the moved into his way, a chair that moved alone.
Before Beni or Jonathan had a chance to understand what was happening Rick pushed the little man into the wall. There was a crashing sound and then O'Connell strode over, grabbed him and lifted him up the wall, until Beni's feet dangled off the floor.
"Where's your new friend?"
"What friend? You're my only friend." Beni leaned that this was the wrong answer as he could only watch as O'Connell quickly slid his knife up under his chin.
"Then you got no excuse for living. What the hell you doin, being buddies with this creep, Beni? What's in it for you?"
"It is better to be the right hand of the Devil...than in his path. As long as I serve him, I am immune."
"Immune from what?" Jonathan asked as he walked over, his eyes never leaving the chair that now layovinoving in the corner.
"You shall see."
"What are you looking for? Lie, and I'll slit your throat." O'Connell shoves the knife deeper into Beni's skin.
"The book! The black book they found at Hamunaptra! Imhotep wants it back. Said to me it would be worth its weight in diamonds."
"What does he want the book for?"
"Something about bringing his dead girly-friend back to life. He needs the book...." Rick looked at Jonathan, then he turned to the place moments before Willow had been standing but she was gone.
"And your sister."
Again O'Connell looked at the British man, only for a short moment, but this was enough time for Beni. He had learned to use such moments in his years on the streets. So he not hesitated, pushing his knees into Rick's balls, he waited until Rick doubled over and collapsed.
This was his chance and so he leaped out of the window, not stopped by Jonathan that cringed.
"That looked rather painful"
"Ya know, ever since I met you, my luck has been for crap."
"Yes, I know, I do that to people"
They looked at each other, both a smirk on the face, to than hear a blood-curdling scream coming from down the bazaar.
The same scream they had heard only a few hours ago, only this time it was another voice that they heard as the scrambled to the window and looked out.
EXT. BAZAAR - DAY FOR NIGHT
Down in the bazaar, people were screaming and quickly backing away from the shrivelled corpse of the Egyptologist.
A partially decayed Hand reached down anok tok the sacred canopic jar out of the death mans shrivelled hand.
Imhotep, had now regenerated even further, but still even in the darkness they could see places on his body that looked rot.
He looked up and caught eyes with O'Connell.
Imhotep grinned, then unhinged his jaw, his mouth stretched to the inhuman size Rick now for the second time could see, and then a huge swarm of flies came out of this black hole, that raced straight up to both man standing in the open window.
Before they could react the shutters were slammed.
The flies slammed into the closed window and immediately spread throughout the bazaar.
Making the in shook frozen people screaming and running.
Willow moved her arms, speaking with the voice of hundreds, she called them all back.
The flies now seemed to build one big ball, made out of life and whirring, to be extinguished by a short flicker of green fire.
Imhotep, his head a little to the side watched her, his mind working. He watched her walk closer until she was standing in front of him.
Making a short bow, Willow started talking. "Imhotep, High Priest of Osiris, Keeper of the Dead."
"Isetnofret? But this is impossible."
"The curse is still strong in you, but you will remember. I hope you will remember, because this is the only way I can save you."
Once more she looked into his eyes then she turned away and disappeared, the curse was still not fulfilled.
EGYPTOLOGISTS OFFICE - DAY FOR NIGHT
O'Connell and Jonathan looked at each other, panicked "Damn-it! That's two down and only two to go."
"And then he'll be coming after Evey."
They turned and raced out of the office.
BRITISH FORT - WINDOW -NIGHT
Daniels starred out a window, watching the British Guards at the front gate, more and more Soldiers marched the encircling parapet.
Then he heard the call, "Ten O'clock! All is well!"
Followed by the lights and music from the casbah come up from below.
INT. EVELYN'S FOYER - NIGHT
Daniels turned from the window. Henderson was sitting in a chair next to Evelyn's door, chain smoking. Both looked wired with fear.
"The hell with this. I'm going, downstairs to get me a drink. Henderson want somethin'?"
"Yeah, get me a glass of bourbon, a shot of bourbon and a bourbon chaser."
Daniels nodded and headed out. The other man just sat there, alone, smoking. He reached into his jacket pocket, pulled out his sacred canopic jar and fondled it.
For a short moment there was no sound only the small noises from outside and his own heartbeat. Suddenly a breeze came in through the open window.
The curtain fluttered.
dersderson watched it to get up and walk over to shut it.
Stopping he looked out the window. He wanted to scream, but it was already to late. The man was lifted into the air by a mass of swirling sand.
His body twisted and turned and slowly shrivelled as the life was sucked out of him.
Then he collapsed to the floor.
On the wall above him, the shadow of the swirling sand condensed, forming a shadow of a human body.
The shadow convulsed as the body regenerated.
And then it was over.
Imhotep stepped into view. He regenerated even further and looked almost normal now, his face no longer decayed.
He stepped over Henderson's body and up to the door, Evelyn's door, rattled the knob.
It was locked.
Imhotep grinned.
