Chapter 24
“Buffy, is everything ok now?” Giles was still furiously cleaning his glasses, Buffys decision to kill Angel had taken him by surprise, she had never before wanted to kill him even the last time he reverted to his former demon she only ever said she would kill him because she had to, not because she had wanted to.
“Yes Giles everything’s fine, there was things we needed to talk about and now its done, the original plan is fine, we’ll recapture Angelus and keep him here until he becomes Angel again or until we find another way of restoring his soul” Spike gave her hand a squeeze for comfort before moving towards Xander and pulling him into the back
“Now listen whelp, I could care less about your opinion or you for that matter but Buffy loves you and I love her which means you get a chance to stop being such a fucking idiot and see that she loves me and I will do anything to make her happy. I understand you don’t want her hurt and you think im not the best person for her..”
“Your not a person at all bleach boy” Xander interrupted, Spike grabbed him by the shoulders and pushed him against the wall, “Listen to me boy and listen good I will never hurt her and I don’t want her hurt by anybody else, you claim to be one of her best friends but you cant stand to see her happy what kind of friend does that actually make you” with that he let go and made his way back to the others leaving Xander with a lot of thinking to do.
“What are you three conspiring against” he asked as he put his arms around Buffy’s waist,
“We were just talking about the plan, I don’t think we should tell Faith about it” she turned to look at him and saw the confusion in his eyes “Look I know she said she didn’t let him get away and she had the bruises but there was something off about it all, you said he angelus never uses his thrall and I don’t believe he’d have got away with making so much as a noise in the back room when they were fighting” she made quotation marks with her fingers on the word fighting to emphasise she didn’t believe it actually happened.
“So what luv? You think Faith is his new partner” he raised his eyebrow at her trying to process the information but coming to the conclusion that his little slayer could have a point, “Ok I agree, we don’t tell Faith”
“Buffy do you really think..” Giles was cut off with a glare from Buffy,
“Giles I have a gut feeling im right with this, I don’t wanna be trust me but there’s something not right here” Giles looked at her and knew she wasn’t going to relent so voiced his agreement and gestured for them to figure out exactly what they were going to.
