Of Birds and Slayers

“You made a terrible mistake” The double smirked, withdrawing the metal from Kennedy’s body whoch collapsed on the ground. Shannah felt a vampire bite her and another one stab her shoulder, but there was no pain. The fire built inside her and released itself in a sudden burst of flames that killed everything aournd her and even hurt a few Slayers.

“Shannah, no!” Faith yelled “Calm down!” But the Phoenix couldn’t hear anything, she rushed straight to The First’s Offspring and pinned it against the wall her blades stuck in both sides of her chest. The Slayers were still fighting for their lifes, but they couldn’t help watching the scene happening before their very eyes.

“Looks like I finally awoke the real Phoenix!” Shannah’s reflection said with a sardonic smile, though choking with it’s own blood. Shannah ripped it apart and threw the pile of bleeding flesh away with a scream of rage. She turned to the rest of TFO’s army and slaughtered them one after the other with her fireballs and blades. Everything fell silent. Her body stopped burning, the flames dispersed and she knelt next to Kennedy’s dead body. Shannah took her in her arms and brushed her face, stained with dirt and blood. Buffy looked around, they had lost a few, many were injured, including herself. Nobody spoke or moved, they were just staring and crying for the loss of a friend, a mentor, or a lover. The brunette was numb, like out of the world. She couldn’t even feel the tears going down her cheeks.

“I failed you...”she whispered very low. “It’s all my fault, I should have never...” The girl tightened her grip on her lover’s corpse and let go her pain. “i love you...” She buried her head in the crook of Kennedy’s neck, which was already starting to get cold. Shannah didn’t hear their gasps and screams, or see the white light around the two of them. Something escaped from her inner self, but she didn’t pay attention to this strange feeling. A heartbeat. Another one. Breathing. Shannah opened her eyes and looked at Kennedy. She was moving.

“It can’t be...” the brunette waited until her eyes met brown one’s. The two girls stared at each other, speechless, until a smile formed on both their faces.

“She’s alive!” Someone exclaimed in the distance.

“Oh my God!”

Still hodling her tight, the Phoenix leant down and crushed her lips on the Slayer’s fot the most passionate kiss they’d ever shared. Kennedy’s hands grabbed the girl’s hair and neck to pull her in even more. A few meters away, Faith and Buffy were standing next to each other, crossing their arms and frowning.

“What the hell just happened?” Faith asked

“I have seriously no idea!” Buffy shrugged. Willow came in-between the Chosen Two.

“Do you have an explanation for that mojo thing?” Buffy raised an eyebrow top the redhead.

“None that I can think of...” Willow shook her head.

“Well, at least the bad guy’s dead. I would’ve missed the Kiddo, though.”

“I think it’s time to-”

“Hey, you two! Get a room!” Faith cut her girlfriend in mid-sentence as things were getting hot between the Phoenix and her beloved Slayer.

“-go home!” Buffy finished with a smile and led the way to the exit.

“I can’t believe your doing this!”

“Why that?”

“It’s so...not you!” Shannah exclaimed while breaking the neck of a female ghoul.

“Well,” Faith punched another ghoul in the face “I feel like it’s the right moment. We love each other so...” The younger brunette killed two more demons and waited for her friend to finish the last one.

“And I-want you- to be-” She said between punches “my best man!” she slayed the demon and turned to face Shannah. “or best girl, but you get my point.” The brunette was grinning.

“Two words! Hell fuckin’ yeah!” The Phoenix exclaimed and hugged the Slayer. They walked out of the vault and lit two cigarettes.

“Hey there strangers” A voice raised from behind the statue of an angel. Shannah smiled at the sight of Kennedy and Buffy walking towards them.

“Hey back!” She greeted her girlfriend with a kiss. “How was slaying?”

“The usual! You got a little something on your cheek...” Kennedy brushed it.

“Ghoul’s blood.” The Slayer smiled and placed a lock of brown hair behind her lover’s ear.

“I can’t believe your hair’s grown back so fast!” She commented as she was playing with Shannah’s mid-long brown locks.

“Stop right now! You two are so cute it’s gross!” Faith laughed.

“SO, what you guys wanna do?” Buffy asked and placed her arm behind her bride-to-be’s shoulder.

“Well...with your H&H thing going on, I think we’d better get food and go home have wild sex before it gets ugly!” Shannah chuckled and received three glares in answer. Kennedy put her hands on her girl’s waist and grinned.

“Or maybe we could save the food for later...” she raised an eyebrow suggestively. Shannah turned to the Cjosen Two with an apologetic face.

“Sorry, duty calls!”

“It’s okay!” Buffy nodded.

“Don’t make it loud!” Faith smirked.

“Well, contrary to someone, the girls didn’t walk on us because they thought we were being attacked.” Kennedy replied. The Rogue Slayer laughed and her fiancé poked her on the shoulder to shut her up. After a ten-minutes flight on Air-Phoenix, the couple reached the Slayer Academy and made their way to the bedroom. As soon as she’d closed the door, Shannah was smashed against it by a very horny Slayer whose lipswere burning hot.

“I’ve been waiting for this ever since you left for that nest.” She whispered, out of breath.

“I missed you too...” The brunette replied, grabbing her girlfriend’s bottom and carried her to the bed. She gently leaned Kennedy on it and placed herself on top of her.

“Did I mention I’m madly in love with you?” Shannah frowned.

“Quite a few times, yeah.” Her lover nodded and the brunette chuckled. The Slayer caught her by surprise and she found herself on her back.

“I lvoe you too!” Kennedy smiled mischieviously, before placing kisses all over Shannah’s neck and face, her hands roaming under her clothes. The Phoenix laughed and turned them upside down again.

“You know I’m letting you win?”

“You think I can’t beat you?” Kennedy raised an eyebrow.

“Never said that!” They kept on fighting for dominance and tease each other until finally, Shannah gave up. Kennedy was holding her wrists up, keeping her still on the bed. Suddenly, Shannah’s face darkened.

“I won’t leave you again. Ever.” She said with a solemn voice. “I’ll always be by your side, no matter what.” Kennedy released her grip and cupped her girlfriend’s face in her hand to stroke it gently.

“I know.” She leant in and kissed the love of her life with a soft and endearing kiss. When they eventually pulled away, Shannah was beaming.

“Now let’s bring sexy back”
