Catch you on the flipside

Kennedy stood and stared up at Sasha in abject shock….there were no words. She had always known her daughter was different. As in demon different….but she was a god? Looking into the living room she felt her heart hammer in her chest when she saw that Sheridan was blended into the couch hiding from Nikos. Looking down she studied the frozen meat in her hands before looking back at Sasha.
The demon stood staring at her aprehensively. Good.
Kennedy sighed and set the frozen meat onto the counter and turned to walk out of the room when Sasha suddenly caught her by her shoulder. Sasha turned the slayer toward her, struggling to go on instinct alone as to what Kennedy was thinking. Fear overrode good sense. Years of neglect and abuse riddled her childhood memories.

“Don’t….dont hurt her for this slayer. She is MY child. If you harm her for what she is….i will kill you.” Sasha growled out. She knew she didn’t have to say this. That Kennedy loved Sheridan was obvious enough, but then again Aphrodite was the Goddess of Love and look how far that had gotten her when she had been born?
Angrily Kennedy whirled on Sasha; Sasha took a step back when she saw the fire dancing in the slayers eyes. It took her a moment to comprehend when Kennedy said when she did speak.
“How dare you…you can’t come here after four fucking years and tell me how to raise my daughter. While you were off convorting with gods I was here raising a child I know nothing about. Everyday brings something new. Some new…power…some new allergy. Things she can’t do are getting fewer and farther between and YOU march your happy ass back here for what? To steal Buffy from Lonnie? Well heres some news it won’t happen. They love eachother and if that’s why tou came…you just fucking leave right now. See if I care!” Sasha blanched and stepped back, certain that at any moment the slayer would take a swing at her.
Risking a glance toward the living room she could see the two children standing in the doorway watching the exchange curiously. Nikos less so than Sheridan.
“I…” Sasha wracked her brain for what to say. She didn’t dare say she was sorry…she might be a mortal now but she was above all things immortal. A God. And Gods didn’t apologize unless they were facing one that could kill them. “Alright.”
“Alright…”Kennedy whispered in disbeleif…well why not. This wasn’t some reasonable…fucking bitch was the thought that won out. Turning she walked toward Sheridan, taking the girls hand she led her to the door. Turning back. “Nikos.Do you want to come with us to Faiths house?”
“No Kennedy. Ill see you when you get back.” His thick Norse accent made Kennedy smile before she looked up at Sasha and promptly frowning. Turning she guided Sheridan out of there house and began walking across the grounds towards the wolves’ house.

“Well that was stupid.” Nikos said once they had left. Turning to his mother he glared up at her.
“Oh shut up. You don’t know what this is like. Im powerless here.”
“It’s not all bout power mother. You should have just apologized. Don’t get me wrong…it’s nice to see you actually have feelings for your offspring but you didn’t have to go threatening her mother.” Nikos flopped back onto the couch and toyed with the tips of his wings.
“I am a God Nikos. I shoudlnt have to explain myself to her.” Sasha stepped toward her son. Feeling her anger at the slayer begin to build. Moreso was that the slayer had picked up on the feelings she had had for Buffy when she had been here last.
“No…you WERE a god…now you’re just a mortal. And you will remain human for another twenty-eight days. And then what? You know Zues can’t keep you human or he would have done that along time ago…yes I know the legends.” Nikos said when Sasha turned shocked eyes on him. “Why do you think my mother wished to lay with you? Having the child of one with power as great as yours…well it would have made her infamous. And it did for a time.”Nikos stood. “I have fifty three years old mother, I am a child among the Gods but im not some foolish brat…Sheridan is lucky to have a mother who loves her so completely. I sure didn’t. And as far as you being a god…you won’t be anything in a month if you don’t get over the fact that you are every bit as human as that slayer and figure out whats going on here. Therse a reason it was you they chose for this…think.” Nikos walked out the door and Sasha watched him go to the edge of the porch and launch into the air, watched as her son’s wings lifted him higher and highter into the air.
Was he right? Was there a reason SHE was the one that had to figure this out…

Skye looked up the second she caught the scent of Kennedy, watchign as the dark haired slayer walked into there house and let go of her cubs hand. Skye tried to shake off the immediete shock that she felt everyime she saw Sheridan.
“Whats up?”
“Nothing…is Raya here?” Kennedy asked. Skye nodded.

“Shes upstairs with mom…theyre busy.” Skye blushed and looked back down at the parenting book she had been reading. “Where did Buffy and her mate go?”
“Huh…oh they went to the Jersey outpost with Horus and Asher….the slayers out there havent radioed in in the last two weeks so they went to make sure everything was alright.” Kennedy said before taking a seat across from Skye.
“Oh…this is all…amazing.”
“What is?”
“This whole…virus…the east coast is a deadzone…my god.”
“Are you sorry Sasha brought you back?” Kennedy asked…she had heard plenty of stories from when Buffy had been brought back.
“What? Oh god no…it’s just a lot to take in. And now im a parent…I went from being an expectant paretn to having twins…seemingly overnight. Its just a lot to take its just weird is all…” Skye whispered the last part.
Kennedy reached over and covered the younger womans hands with her own. “I know it doesn’t seem like it now…but it will be alright.”
“I hope so.” Looking up Skye smiled when Ryan walked into the kitchen with a sour expression on her pale features.
“Your damn parents are too old to be that damn loud.” Ryan grumbled reaching for the coffee pot. She cast a hard glare when Kennedy snickered.
“Theyre not that loud Ryan.” Kennedy said chuckling.
“The hell theyre not. My god im shocked they didn’t wake the kids.” Ryan leaned back and took a sip of her coffee. Skye smiled up at her lover and suddenly Kennedy felt like she was intruding. Standing she smiled and looked over at Sheridan who sat on the couch watchign movies with Bri.
“Is it alright if I leave her here for now? I have to go. It’s my shift for training today.” Kennedy stood waiting as the skin walkers looked at eachother.
“Yea of course. Actually Bri was wanting Sheridan to stay over tonight…would that be alright?” Ryan asked.
“Yeah that would be fine. Ill drop some of her clothes off after training.”
“Alright, have a good one Kennedy.” Skye said, eager to get the slayer out of the house…she wanted to get some bedroom time in before the twins woke up…
“You too.” Kennedy said before walking into the other room to kiss her daughter goodbye.
