Curios Visitor

It must've been 1am when Spike heard his crypt door open, and close, and even though there was an unmistakable scent of Summers making it's way down the ladder, he knew it wasn't Buffy.

"What's up, Niblet?" He asked, not bothering to look up from his bottle of whisky.

"What's wrong with Buffy?" She asked quietly.

"Dunno. Why?"

"After you guys had that fight she just went upstairs and locked herself in her room. She won't even talk to me." Dawn looked worried."So"So she doesn't know you're here?" Dawn shook her head at Spike. " Then you shouldn't be here. And don't worry about her - she just needs some time to cool down."

Dawn sat down next to him on the cold hard floor. "She got pretty mad about the whole brother, sister thing, huh?"

"You said it." he agreed. "How'd you know I told her?"

"Spike, I think the whole street heard you guys yelling." Dawn said matter-of-factly.

Spike looked worried. "What else did you hear?"

Dawn looked down and blushed slightly. "How long have you guys been - you know - doing it for?"

"Don't think that's any of your business really, do you?" He wished she would just drop it. He wanted to be left alone.

"God! I'm 15! I'm not a kid anymore, I'm an adult and I wanna know about these things. Why does everyone still treat me like I'm eight?!"

"Dawn, just leave it!" He didn't want to get angry at her, but he couldn't help it.

"No! Why won't people start treating me like they treat each other?" She stood up and glared at him. he stood up and glared at her, growling slightly.

"You'll be treated like an adult when you start bloody well acting like one! Adults know when to mind their own business. They know when to not ask questions and they don't whine about things and whine about the fact that everyone treats them like a kid! Now piss off and grow up!"

The little brunette looked started, and tears pricked her eyes as she made her way up and out of Spike's crypt. Spike watched her leave and took another gulp of whiskey.

"Dawn....." He called, and he saw her poke her down down from the top of the ladder, her face creased up, holding back tears.

"What?" She asked, abviously holding back sobs. Spike sighed.

"Love you." He winked at her, and she gave him a tight smile back.

"Love you too." And she left.
