PART 2: a rose isn't always a rose
THANKS: To Janet, who made me think about writing this again.
Note: Slight quote from Robert Frost
Note 2: Unbeta-ed so... sorry for any stupid mistakes.
Weeks had passed since that fateful night at the Bronze. Cordelia only had the dried remnants of the flower and William's note to keep her from convincing herself it was all a dream... a very vivid, nearly pornographic, but wholly unbelievable... dream.
Her head against the pillow, Cordelia, once again, brought the letter to her nose, hoping the smell of him would some how be on the page.
"Cordelia Elizabeth Chase!" Her mom rang over the intercom.
"Shit." Cordy muttered, "All three names..."
Cordelia made her way from her bedroom wing to the main part of the Chase mansion. Each step toward her parent's wing brought with it a sense of dread. *What could they have found out about?* Cordelia thought. *I don't think I've done anything particularly note worthy in the last few weeks.*
Her name again boomed out of the walls. "Cordelia!"
She made her way to a wall console and pressed the talk button. "I'm on my way, Mother." She announced.
When she finally crossed the threshold of her parent's section of the house, she was met by her mother standing in the middle of the room, furious, holding a dozen red roses.
*William.* Cordelia visualized, a small smile spreading across her face.
"Well?" Mrs. Chase demanded.
"Well, what?" Cordelia answered.
"You know very well what I'm talking about, Cordelia. Who are these from?" Her mother spat, shaking the roses in Cordelia's face.
"Did they come with a card?" Cordelia inquired, hoping for another piece of the puzzle with William.
"Of course it had a card." Her mother pronounced, handing the tiny, white card to Cordelia.
She turned the card over in her hand and read the words staring up at her.
"...many miles before I sleep."
Not for you, my sweet
~W~
Cordelia looked from the card to her mother's face and tried not to smile. She knew exactly who the blood red flowers were from, and had known since she walked through the door.
"I have no idea who these are from, Mother." Cordelia lied. "Probably some psycho who thinks he's my boyfriend or something." She continued. "We should just throw them in the trash, he'll give up when he sees that there's no chance." She supposed. "Here, I'll take them to the kitchen to have one of the maids thrown them out."
"Are you sure they aren't from someone you know." Her mother accused.
"Mother, would I associate with someone who would send flowers without a name, instead of calling on me properly?" Cordelia replied, her question meant to convince her mother of her complete innocence. She sealed the deal with a smile, taking the flowers from her Mother and walking back to her wing.
"I can't believe it!" Cordelia shouted, safely back in her wing. "Flowers." She smiled, walking to her stereo and turning on the song she had played almost non-stop since that night. When Sarah's voice came over the stereo, Cordelia's body went into water-like movements. She gave her whole being over to the song as she placed the flowers in a vase by her bed and flopped down on the mattress.
"Believe it, beautiful." A sexy, drawling voice said from her window.
Cordelia turned and locked eyes with her captivating stranger.
