A year ago, he would have never once thought that he would be sitting in a darkened booth in a rather favored club for the supernatural creatures that stalked the night. He never would have thought of having a conversation with one of said creatures about how he still loved his sweet lover. Or was it ex-lover? Much less talking about the pain of still loving the man, but Xander never once thought that he would be sharing the tale of his and Cordelias relationship that had ended so badly and his lingering feelings for the ex-cheerleader. Xander spoke of how Cordelia always took and took and took some more, while never giving back. He spoke of how it left him drained, emotionally and mentally, the relationship acting much like a vampire. He continued on how he was hidden and called a boyfriend, getting a mutter and slight glare at that. Xander wondered if Asher had said something along the lines of ‘Boyfriend, right,’ but brushed it aside as impossible seeing as it was Asher and muttered behind his hand. Really, though, if the elder male had said that, he would have been right about that. Xander was never a boyfriend to her, just a way to get a little fun and play in. He wasn’t her boyfriend, anymore than Asher was Jean-Claude’s lover at the time. Xander was nothing more then her toy and when her toy broke and kissed another, it was thrown away like all her other broken toys. It was so close to what had happened with Jean-Claude and Asher when they lost their third to the horrifying attack on them. Losing one third of their triumvirate had torn them apart, and since Jean-Claude had a new triumvirate, Asher was on the fringe, not truly cared for anymore by his old lover. At least that was what it looked like for the scarred vampire. Of course, Jean-Claude never really tried, having been to caught in the guilt of not being able to protect their third and to stop the scarring of Ashers beauty to see when the blond started to look at him once more with love. It looked as it had only lasted until the tramp came along, helping to rebuild the relationship back to where it used to be, until things had started to go down hill just as the two beautiful vampires had come close to being lovers once more. The dark vampire, the tramp and the werewolf who looks as if he would love to be anywhere but near the wench had created a bloody triumvirate. After that, Asher had become a feeding source for the bitches ardeur that she ended up with from Jean-Claude as his human servant. Too much power meant that any time that Xander had to be around her, he would have an itchy twitchy finger, begging for a reason to take her down finally. He hide it well and the vampires didn’t have to know. Sighing soflty, Xander lent into Ashers side, just watching as the people around them enjoyed themselves. He felt the other stiffen and then slowly relax as he continued to watch the people, knowing he had started the other when he had leant into him. But it looked as if the vampire didn’t mind all that much, allowing Xander to lose himself in the music and the dancers and the people that he watched. Allowing him to forget about his pain for even just a little bit of time. He was trying to forget that up until a year ago, he hunted the vampires that had been tainted by the Hellmouth. That up until a year ago he had been trying so hard to get Cordelia to speak to him after the kiss fiasco. That only a year ago he had left in a car that he had save up for and bought from a good friend who was a demon, and had never looked back, knowing that he would never come back again. He tried to forgot that he had become a secretary slash receptionist like person for Jean-Claude and the multitude of businesses that needed to be looked after. Tried to forget the crush that he had on the two vampires and the way it had evolved into love, even knowing that he could never have it returned by them. He finally tried to forget that a year ago, he would have never thought about fixing the broken relationship between the Master of Saint Louis and his wayward second, destroying a Triumvirate that should have never happened. He tried to forget that he was doing it at the cost of his heart, sanity and life. His very happiness. He tried to forget even as he continued to help Asher remember why he loved Jean-Claude.
