Buffy had expected to here from the Mayor sooner or later to get his box back.

"Mayor I was expecting you, so how do you want to make the exchange?"
"Miss Summers you are mistaken I did not call you to make an exchange."

Buffy looked at Giles nervously, if you don't want to trade what proposition do you have for me.
"I'm glad you asked that question, My deal is simple, the acension for the girls.
Buffy, who was very confused at this point, asked the Mayor what he meant.
" It's quite simple Ms. Summers, My Faith has taken a liking to Ms. Rosenberg, and I want her to be happy, So I am willing to call off my plans, in return for the girl.

"let me get this straight, you expect me to believe that you would call off the ascension if I let Faith keep willow, do you think I am that stupid."

"what I think isn't important, you have my box, and you know that I can's ascend without the contents, you destroy the box, no ascension. But if you agree to the deal, Willow stays with us, and any breech of the deal by you and I kill not only her but, I will make it my mission to kill every single person in Sunnydale. I understand you might need to think about it get, back to me with your answer."

With that the mayor hung up. Buffy put down the phone and related the conversation to the rest of the Scooby gang.
"Giles I don't know what to do, with everything we know about the ascension, we want to able to stop it, and the Mayor is offering us an out."

Giles who had spent most of this time polishing his glasses looked at Buffy grimly, "I don't have the answer Buffy. I don't see any other choice."

"I have to agree with Giles, Buffy not even Angelus was capable of what the Mayor is. Why didn't Willow just follow simple directions danmit" yelled Angel.

Xander stood up and put his hand on top of Buffy's, She's my best friend Buff, but she knew the risks coming into this, and these are innocent people lives.

Cordelia, who had been looking on in shock, stood up "are you people crazy you want to sacrifice Willow because this battle might be hard, are you all crazy, do you have any idea what might happen to her? Now we have never been best friends but I respect her and she is the best person I know."

"Cordelia, no Xander don't try and justify this to me, I can see that you people have already made up your minds, but leave me out of it."

With that Cordelia Chase walked out of the library.

Willow and Faith were stunned at what they had just hears, for her part Faith was running threw the possibilities of getting everything she had ever wanted. Having been in love with the read head from their first hello.

Willow on the other hand was both shocked and terrified at the possibilities, but it the back of her mind she knew her best friends would never let this happen to her.

"Your crazy do you know that Buffy will never go for this deal," willow boldly protested.
The Mayor laughed, "will see about that, the Slayers jobs is to save the day, and I have just offered her away to do that without the lost of life, I know she will take it."

"But boss she's right, Buffy want just take this even, if she agrees, she will try something to kill us both and get Willow back" Faith said.

Don't worry about that darling, I have already taken care of that glitch, I am going to make it impossible for that to happen".

As that was said, the phone rang, the Mayor put it on speaker. Ah, Ms. Summers have you thought about the arrangement?"

"Yes I have Mayor, you have a deal." The phone went dead.

Willow and Faith were both shocked bit had completely different reactions, Faith ran up and hugged the Mayor and Willow just sat there with tears in her eyes she couldn't believe that Buffy and essentially sold her.

Just then their was a knock at the door, "Mayor everything that you ask for has been set up, and the priestess is here"

"excellent we will be along shortly"
"whats going on boss"
"I'm making it impossible Faith, and call me dad.

The line went dead
