Strangers and language barriers

Buffy followed the horsemen for what felt like hours. Not long after he had captured her he had rejoined the other horsemen and she noticed that there was a young boy tied to the back of one of the other men’s horses.

Watching as the sun broke over the horizon she looked over the terrain, there were no roads, no towns, no telephone poles…anything but forest and wild.

After nearly an entire day they reached what looked like a camp. Waiting while the man got off his horse and undid the wooden lock that fasted her ‘collar’ to the back of the horse, she waited for him to get close to her and swung her leg up into his gut and turned and ran towards the nearest tree line.

Gasping when I blinding pain shot up her leg she dropped. Looking down she saw a small arrow jutting out from the back of her calf. Wincing she tried to stand, she was a slayer. She could take it; she just needed to make it to the woods.

When her capture ran up and threw his arms around her and picked her up off the ground she kicked angrily, trying anything to throw him off balance. It took her a minute to realize that no one was rushing to his aid.

Wrenching her down to the ground the horsemen raised a small club and struck the woman in the back of her head. Picking her up him turned and went back to his tent. Walking around the back to where the other slaves were kept. His slaves were shackled in pairs. He looked around until he spotted someone about the height of the new slave and walking up he laid her down gently.

Taking a key he ignored the protests of the old man that was chained to the red haired woman. Pushing the older man back he took the collar off the old man and replaced the one around the new slave’s neck. Now she was attached to the other woman.

Standing he grabbed the old man, walking into the clearing he waited for Borkis to meet him in the middle.

“I give you him for that boy child you found last night. They fetch close price.” Borkis thought on it a moment. It was true. Normally children were well paid for because they could be trained and made good servants. But this boy had a limp in his knee and a displeasing scar on his face.

“Good deal.” Borkis turned and retrieved the boy, taking him to his old partner they shook on it and went there separate ways.

Buffy came too slowly. Groaning she grimaced when her eyes opened. They were still in that camp. Looking in front of her she saw feet, dirty feet that went to connect to someone. Looking up she saw a young woman, she guessed around her age, sitting beside her and looking at her curiously. The woman had dark red hair that was braided and twisted off into small thin dreadlocks. Her eyes were a darker green than any Buffy had ever seen before. And damn she was glaring pretty hard.

“What is this?” Buffy tried to sit up but stopped when she realized it meant she had to move her leg. Looking up she realized the woman still hadn’t answered.

Instead the woman was looking at her strangely. Her gaze was almost questioning. Buffy repeated the question and the woman still just sat there.

“Your just a talkative thing aren’t you…do you have a name?” Buffy pressed her hand to her chest and said “Buffy”

The woman seemed to understand that and said something that sounded like “Boofay” ‘Great yet another way to butcher my name’

The woman pressed her own hand to her chest and said “Lonza” Buffy smiled and nodded. She could remember that.

Suddenly feeling incredibly tired she lay her head down and let her eyes shut.

Lonza looked at the sleeping woman. She was dressed strangely, and in colors she had never seen before. The horsemen had brought her here earlier, trading off the old man to make suitable room. She was small, and Lonza wasn’t to sure she knew what kind of price this woman would bring.

She was very slight, she didn’t see any signs that the woman had given birth, and there were no tattoos or markings to show her profession. Her skin was strangely unblemished. She would probably end up a body-slave.

Lonza knew that was her fate when they reached the end of the world. The place these horsemen came from. She thought back to the day nearly three weeks ago, the day she was taken.

Her village was well hidden deep in the forest. They were surrounded by cliffs and rivers. She knew somehow she would return home before she reached the seas. Because it was said when you reached the waters and were led across by the horsemen, you were never seen again.

She looked down at the small woman. Praying this woman would survive the journey, she had a better chance of making it home if she was attached to someone who wouldn’t slow her down.

Seeing there owner come around the back of the tent she averted her gaze. They didn’t like it when you looked at them. She looked over and saw the small blonde’s leg; the wound was fresh but must not have been as seriously as she had thought at first. It looked almost healed.

‘That’s odd’ deciding not to give it any more thought Lonza turned over and fell into a deep sleep, they were leaving in the morning and after three weeks she knew once they began moving they would not stop for many nights. This was the last raid until they got over the mountains and the horsemen would want to put plenty of distance between them and avenging tribes.

~Present Day: Watchers Institute~

Faith lay in bed with Raya, listening to the tall woman sleep. It was like this a lot lately…she would stay awake and mull over what had happened to Buffy. She couldn’t get it out of her head.

She was convinced she was alive. But no one not even Red could find any trace of her. She would say that the same thing that happened to Raya had happened to B but B was from here.

Sighing she leaned up and kissed the sleeping wolf’s cheek softly before getting up and deciding the start her day.

Pausing outside the twins room long enough to make sure they were still asleep she continued down the stairs to make herself some coffee.
