Always On My Mind,Always In My Heart

The hooded figure watched with great interest as the slayers waved goodbye to the girl. So this was the girl, the daughter of the
immortal and the slayer without a doubt,it was unmistakable even to someone who knew nothing. He felt his eyes sting,he wanted to
go over there and break the slayers' scranny little necks with his bare hands and laugh as he felt the bones snap.

But he wouldn't. He would put a leash on his desire because his partner in crime wanted it. The slayers would be crucial to the
bigger picture being painted. He would resist the urge to go over and kill them right now,and in the end the cosolation prize
would be so much grander.

"That's the girl huh?"

He looked over his shoulder meeting a set of cold hard eyes. A beautiful face void of any emotion before him. Long black spiked
hair flowed about wildly in the morning breeze, casting shadows that left a shiver running down his spine despite the warm sun that was shining brightly. He took in the black leather trenchcoat that covered from neck to ankles, worn like a second skin.

"Yeah. But you know that. The slayers are over there." he motioned across the street where the slayers were embracing each other.
Out of the corner of his eye he watched intently over his staring partner. A tiny inaudioable gasp escaped his throat, for a
fraction of a second he saw regret and sorrow flash through those dull eyes, but only for a second because as quickly as it had
come,it was gone.

"Keep an eye on her." Cold concrete like voice. He wondered if he were ever close enough he could feel the chilly breath.
He nodded, not even bothering to answer, there was noone there any longer but himself. He knew who 'her' was. From his spot in the
shadows of the overlaying house he monitored as the two slayers went inside the white house.

Faith sighed, plopping on the couch. She'd known Kristin was bound to find out one day. It was just too weird that she looked nothing like Buffy while she claimed to be her mother. Buffy was blonde, had green eyes, was chipper and mean sometimes, and was
usually spasing with the first expresso she had. Kristin was very calm (sammy),was really laid back (sammy),had almost angelic
gray eyes (sammy),a deep throaty voice (me or sammy),and was usually really nice and outgoing (definately sammy).

She tossed her head back, fingers absently drumming on her jean clad leg the way they always did when she got nervous or was
thinking really hard, her eyebrows furrowed, and staring into oblivion. She was so lost in her own head that was completely oblivious to Buffy sitting in the couch across from her until she cleared her throat rather roughly.

"What is it B?"

Now it was Buffy's turn to sigh. She leaned foward and rested her elbows on her knees, her head held in her hands. "It's nothing
I'm just-"

"Mad?" Faith finished for her.

"Faith why would I be mad at that? Kristin is a young adult, and Sammy is her mother...I just wish-"

"You wish what B? What's the problem then?"

Buffy gestured with her hands. "This. This is the problem."

Faith raised a brow,"You don't like the furnisher?"

"There! That's exactly what I'm talking about."

"More specific please."

"You. You're acting like, you know you're acting like that again."

Faith felt her walls slip up again, she knew what Buffy was talking about,it happened everytime so her defenses went shooting back
up in place. "I'm acting like what?" she said a little to harshly, instantly feeling bad when Buffy's eyes flashed with pain.

Buffy got to her feet, now pacing in front of her,her arms crossed over her midsection but a hand holding her chin, her head bowed
as she sought the right thing to say. "You know Faith,it hurts me so bad that you won't let me in. I've been with you for five
years now,I know you by now,I can read you easier than a first grade book."

Faith uncermoniously scrambled to her feet, anger rising in her. She caught Buffy's eyes looking long and hard, neither backing
down. "What's your deal?"

"My deal is that it hurts me so bad that even her name gets you to react like that. That's something I can never do is it?"

"So you're jealous now is that it?"

"Maybe." Buffy bit back, witnessing Faith's eyes glaze over with guilt. "All I know is that I can never be what Sam was in your eyes."

"Well she's dead. There's no competition here." Faith spoke softly. "You can't possibly know how I feel."

Buffy fought the urge to slap her, only because she knew Faith was about to cry. "That's not fair Faith." Faith did not respond,
rather headed up the stairs to Kristin's room, her safe haven."FUCK!" Buffy slammed her fist into the wall, resulting with a large
hole in the tile. "Double fuck!" Her highs heels clicked loudly on the oak floors. "Why do I always do that to her?" she asked the empty living room.

Why did she always do that? She knew how bad it hurt Faith to think about Sammy, she knew she would eventually remind herself that
she was dead. Sam was dead,Faith was here with her,and she had the opputunity to raise a beautiful young girl that loved her
unconditionally, what more couls she possibly want? So why was she acting like this? Was she jealous of the dead girl? Jealous of Sam? Jealous of the girl who had died to save her life?

She was about to head out when the ringing in the breast pocket of her jean jacket caught her attention. Using shaky fingers she
pulled the cell out and placed put it to her ear.

"Hello?" She asked into the reciever.

"Hi. Is this the parent of Kristin Olivares?"

Buffy recognized the voice as belonging to the school nurse and she had a minor panic attack. "Why? Is she okay? Is she hurt?
What happened to her?!" she was shreiking into the phone.

"Calm down um Ms-"

"Summers." Buffy supplied. "I'm sorry. Is just that, what happened?"

The nurse laughed, her chipper voice carrying throughout the line. "She was heading into the classroom and the teacher opened the
door and hit her on the head."

"Is she alright?" She was alredy heading out to Faith's green and yellow Mustang Shelby.

"Just a minor concussion. You should see the door."

"WHAT!?!" Buffy felt bad, listening to the nurse hiss, she could practically see her wincing.

"I'm sorry. That wasn't the most considerate thing to say. Usually we call an ambulance when something like this happens, but Kris
was very stern about having her parents called instead. I would suggest you take her to the er just in case. She can stay home
the rest of the week,it's already Thursday."

"Okay. I'll be there in five minutes." Buffy tossed the cellphone into the passenger seat, looking up to Kristin's window. Faith
would be very upset with her for not telling her."No,she's ganna be pissed." Buffy started up the engine figuring it was better
not to beat herself up about it right now,Faith would take care of that later. Pulling out of the driveway she headed down the
street into the red light ditrict and down to Sunny High.

AN: How was that? Sorry about the first short chapter. It's just that it was like ten minutes before school started,I was trying to get my essay ready,I was combing my hair,I was getting changed, and I was making out with my girlfriend while typing...life is
hectic, like seriously. But oh well all's well that ends well right? Don't forget to review.
